Review: Excellent book of ur still deciding on falconry imo. - Full of information for only 145 pages. He hits the high notes for beginners imo. If ur on the fence trying to decide if falconry is for you he outlines the cost, the hours daily involved, the cleaning retinue, the fact that it is a blood sport, you will need to kill the prey ur raptor catches if they don’t. He plays it all bare. Zero disillusions. He has the glossary you will find on tests. He lists the state websites where you can find out about licensing. He lists state and international clubs. He goes over husbandry, anatomy, raptors in captivity, etc. I’m glad I purchased it. He also lists other books you should add to your falconry book collection if you decide falconry is for you including a medical type book if ur not near an avian vet. Best $10 I’ve spent on knowledge in years. I have access to some of this online, but it’s great to have it in one little portable book I can take with me. The only negatives I have would be these two- 1) I would have loved color photographs & 2) the link to the videos is no longer active. I’m sure it’s expensive to keep a website going tho so I completely understand that and there are so many available on YouTube that it doesn’t really bother me. I’d just take that out of the next printing, but I’d definitely add more pictures even if in black and white. Some pictures of the equipment would be nice too. He does an excellent job of telling you what the prices were at the time if the book’s printing tho and the price of a total kit (around $1500 if you go whole hog). I was at a VA appt in Loveland, CO the other day and got to hold two of three raptors. I’ve volunteered with them before and saved some before. And I think I might be ready to try falconry. They are starting a program. I’m a disabled veteran so anything that gets my head out of chronic pain is welcome. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and bc it’s packed full of information it’s the type that the more you read it the more you absorb and if ur like most ppl- reading before bed lets you retain it better. Learned that in a psychology class in college. lol. Hats off to the writer bc I think he did an excellent job. He kept it short and sweet. Just the facts. Review: Very Informative - Exactly what I expected - Falconry is a topic I want to learn about and possibly get into in the future, and this book is a great start to learning all about it. Definitly a good pick-up if you are interested.

Awesome book!
I greatly enjoyed reading this title, you can tell how much the author loved writing this book. I wish the links still worked, but that cannot be helped, its ok. The author has no control over the internet, lol. But i really enjoyed the glossary and appreciated the straightforward approach.

Interesting
This was an interesting introduction to falconry. I have been intrigued by this sport and wanted more info. My guess is that it is pretty basic for someone already involved in it.

Great book. Gives a great deal of information to anyone interested in falconry, yet does not over inundate you with information. Well written and easy to follow and understand. Also the free videos are a very cool addition. I finished the book last night and registered through the link provided and received my first video tonight. A definite must have book for anyone looking to get into the sport of Falconry.

Great book for beginners
Great book for beginners. It has a big glossary that can be quickly access to check on "falconry language" when one encounters unfamiliar term or a phrase..Also contains a link to a free video library. The material covers the basics. For in -depth course I would recommend " Understanding the bird of prey" by dr Nick Fox plus his set of 8 dvds

Easy to read and navigate
Basic knowledge covered , and not the first book I've read. Easy to read and navigate. Essential terms defined. Entering into a world beyond photography and raising baby bluejays..who are loud and demanding. (Left on my porch step by a hawk). After two years of enjoying the free bluejay returning at will, thinking I may take the next step. Wishing for the next step...

Libro en copias
Solo son copias fotostaticas del original y eso no lo dicen en la información

Not recommended
The book is shallow and seems more like a sort of half-motivated diary than a conclusive introductory book. If you really want to take up hawking, you should look at other books.
