Really impressed!!
This is an awesome microscope - really surprisingly good even if it was twice the price. Way better than a mono scope for capturing kids interest - much easier to focus and get a clear & wide field of view. My eight year olds like it much more than the more powerful mono scope that really requires well prepared slides to get a good view of anything. This lets you pick up anything, drop it on the plate, and get a great view quickly. I'm very impressed with the value on this.

Perfect for reading electronic component values
Besides getting older and slowly going blind, I still like to work on electronics, but trying to see the values of some components like small capacitors is very difficult; and was not that easy when I could see better than most of my peers. This tool takes care of that. It is comfortable to use, easy to set up, and the light is more than bright enough to see the subject part. It comes with a thick plastic cover (more like semi-clear rubber), batteries, rubber eye pieces, and two sets of lenses; 20X and 50X. I'm not sure if I will ever use the 50X, as the 20X is more than enough for my applications. The overall quality is acceptable, and it should last a long time.

Great little microscope
I wanted a microscope that so my son could look at anything, not just slides, this works perfect. It is fascinating to see things close up. The magnification is great, I know it's not the best, but for the price, you can't beat it.

Excellent except for the 25x eyepieces
I think the build quality is excellent. Does not drift when focused. Beautiful clarity and illumination when using it at 20x, but when you switch to the 25x eyepieces which gives you 50 power magnification, the clarity and illumination decrease dramatically. Kind of like looking at something inside a plastic sandwich baggie. If I held a small led flashlight (6 LEDs) up to the specimen, then that helped considerably, and even using two of those flashlights helped more and gave a nice view with illumination and clarity similar to the 20x magnification which uses the 10x eyepieces. Since the glass lens portion of the eyepieces is much larger in diameter for the 10x eyepiece than the 25x eyepiece, I imagine much more light can pass thru it explaining the differences. I'm keeping the unit since it is of high quality other than the lighting issue. Would give it 5 stars otherwise. Maybe any unit would be this waywhen increasing the magnification....I don't know.

Great for a curious youngster!
We purchased this microscope for our granddaughter's 8th birthday. She is curious about the world around her and we wanted something that would encourage that interest. This was the perfect gift! Shortly after opening her present, she was examining rocks, cat hair, and leaves. The best thing about this particular microscope is that the object can be studied whole, as opposed to on a slide. We anticipate she will get many hours of enjoyment from her microscope.
