Can I leave one side open or unzipped to fit a 155cm board?

I think you can leave a side open in orden to put a bigger board, but I think it won't protect the board as it should if you buy a smaller bag. I dont know if the bindings will fit in the space provided for them if the board is bigger

Is this bag okay to put a check-in lugguage when I fly?

I realize this isn't the purpose, but any chance this bag could fit a 48 inch x 20 inch surf board?

It would probably fit, but not be ideal. I bought a surf board sock for my surf boards. The socks come in different sizes. OBTW, the Grayne wakeboard bag greatly exceeded my expectations. I researched for months and was hesitant to buy Grayne due to the low price. That was a waste of time.
