Excellent humidifier, Works with a Variety of Bottles, Auto Shut Off
I did a bunch of research, because been stayng in a hotel for the last 4 months and now that it has gotten colder, it has gotten even drier. I wanted it to be something small so that it would be easy to travel with (so the ones that would work with bottles of water were ideal), and something that had minimized risk of being knocked over by my cat (or a boyfriend) when traveling. I settled on this model because it fits on top of the bottle, not the other way around. After I received it, I grabbed a liter bottle from the grocery store, plugged it in following the directions (simple), and went to sleep. It was off when I woke up and I started freaking out, I did everything I could think of and then noticed on the box that it has an auto shut-off after 8 hrs. After the auto shut off, you have to unplug the USB plug from the wall (or computer, or whatever). unplugging it by the neck of the bottle doesn't reset the timer. While people say it only uses a little water, I thought I would give some perspective. I replaced the liter bottle with a 20 oz Dasani bottle, and the filter extends about halfway down (just shy of halfway). Using it overnight took the water halfway down the filer - however the top of the bottle is angled up and contains less water. I could use this without refilling for 2 nights. Ideally, this could be paired with a shorter, wider bottle so that it didn't need to be refilled as often (one that was as deep as the filter, but wider around then the traditional bottle). I know the point it to pair it with whatever is handy, but I also like the idea of maximizing the amount of time between refills (especially since I plan on refilling with tap water). Great item, I'm glad I purchased it.

Works as advertised, but for the money, there are a few things that I'd want to be changed
It is a small, portable humidifier that can attach to water bottles. So far, so good. Pros: Small, portable Extra Filter 8 hour auto-shut off Tight seal to bottle (at least for Poland Spring bottles, I can lift the device and the bottle stays attached, though you definitely shouldn't carry like that) Cons: The moisture isn't very long reaching, but it is perfect for a desk (which is where I use it). If you don't move it around every so often though, you can get a buildup of moisture right around it depending on airflow wherever you're using it. (This isn't so bad and is pretty much expected from a portable humidifier, but it's still a slight annoyance) The USB head is pretty thick, making it difficult/impossible to plug in with other USBs on either side. The USB cord is proprietary, meaning if you want a different length or this one breaks you have a problem (I'd really like to see a micro USB port). While it can fit many bottle types, it'll only take water up until the water drops below the filter, meaning it only uses ~50% of a regular water bottle. I think this problem could be solved if it had some kind of flexible tube/straw that could be attached to the end of the filter to reach all the way to the bottom of the bottle. Even though there is a power connection right at the humidifier, the 8-hour shutoff is built into the head of the USB. I didn't realize this and it makes it more difficult to use if you have to unplug/plug at the back of a computer. Plug/unplug at the connection right at the humidifier doesn't reset the auto-off function. I'd also like to see a way to change how much is being produced, like a variable twist head or something

Great product, super portable, just the setup is a little wonky
Overall, works very well, now that it's working. But out of the box the instructions were not clear. Instructions said to insert the filter, etc etc. However the filter ships attached. Anyway, it was confusing because out of the box the filter did not turn on. Was completely dead, even though I let it soak for 30 minutes. So I wasn't sure what was attached, what was the filter, etc. Disconnected the unit from the USB and let it sit for 15 minutes. Detached the filter and re-attached. After that, reconnected the USB, unit has been working like crazy and very pleased. It went thru a whole 8oz bottle of water during the night. Attached via USB battery pack and works great. Works great when attached to USB to power outlet. It's great, just the out of box experience is pretty confusing. Packaging is good, not wasteful, was surprised it came with an extra filter (2 total ship with unit).

Back to the drawing board
It sounded great and the concept was awesome, but the execution failed miserably. The device worked well for one day and then it petered out. No vapor, no nothing!! You can put it atop any bottle of water; however, unless the length of the filter goes all the way down to the bottom of whatever bottle you are using, the humidifier stops with over half of the water still in the bottle. It needs to go back into production with a different approach. Meanwhile, the portable bottle cap air humidifier I purchased with its own little bottle (by Acoustic Audio Tek) is AWESOME!!

Filter too short...
This portable humidifier works great and I've had success travelling on the airplane with this, preventing dried out sinus, mouth, and face skin pulling. However, one annoying thing about the filter is that it is VERY SHORT. I've used the same mini bottle shown on the picture and still, the filter is short, so I'm constantly having to refill the water. I had to refill the bottle 4 times during my 14hour nonstop flight and I'm constantly filling up the bottle in my office, where I normally work 8-10hours a day. Otherwise, it's good. I'm not sure if it's just me, but I thought the advertisement was little misleading/lacked detailed information because there are two version; mini and the regular. I thought the "mini" meant narrower spout, but also a shorter filter. So with that assumption (yes, it's my mistake for assuming), I ordered the regular filter thinking that it'll provide a longer filter that reaches almost to the bottom of the regularly sized water bottle. Another caveat is that US water bottles, e.g. Dasani or Nestle to name a couple are bigger and taller than the Korean water bottles (where Satechi is made), so when I'm using the US water bottles, I feel like I'm wasting more water, meaning, when there's a significant amount of water left inside the bottle, I have no use for them since I'm not going to drink the left over water. Since I only use filtered water (most of the time, spring water), the cost is another factor too. Hope this helps the next potential buyer. Update: November 2016 I purchased this humidifier in March of 2016 and have used it often while travelling (both inside the airplane and at hotels) and I use it at the office on a daily basis. After going through about 4 filters, it is now not as effective as it used to be. At the end of the day, I make sure the filter is out of the water bottle and dried out for the next day use (at the office). Sometimes, it will not run if the USB charger gets too hot or if it's plugged in for a long time, which at that time, I will unplug it and then plug it back in, which seems to get it working again. I need to contact the seller and see what they can do for this because I've used the brand new filter for less than a week, but it's not working and it appears to be the humidifier, not the filter that's the problem. Hope the item isn't going bad on me already. I've only had it for 7 months now. UPDATE: MARCH 2017 So here's an update using this product for quite some time now. A few months back, I had to contact the CS department because it stopped working. They advised to clean the inside of the humidifier, where the filter touches the output, with a Q-Tip soaked in vinegar. I tried this, but it still didn't work, so patiently, I gently cleaned the area as advised by CS, thinking that it will improve the output of the humidifier, but this was quite difficult because the Q-Tip doesn't have much space to move around since it's designed to secure the filter and the plastic filter holder is long and narrow. At the end, the aluminum part of the output cracked when I applied little bit of more pressure. It's kind of hard to apply that much pressure inside the little limited area when the length of the Q-Tip is covered mostly by the plastic portion, so you're left with very little toe grab on the Q-tip. Anyway, baffled by this, I decided to unscrew the top portion to see what's going on (since it's no longer good) and once I realized it really died on me, I poked around to see how thin the aluminum part was and it completely tore apart. I am adding a photo for your visual in case any of you are advised by the CS to do what I did.

Terrific!
Outputs a surprisingly high amount of vapor. Works really well. I bought this to use on long haul flights. Tried it on a flight last week - made a huge difference in how I felt during (and after) the flight. After that test, I bought two others for family members. One tip: if the wick is very dry when you first put it in the water bottle, it will take a few minutes for it to suck up water, and during that time, it will seem like the humidifier is not working. After a few min, unplug it and then plug it back in again, and if the wick is sufficiently wet, then it will start working (NOTE: it will not start working automatically when the wick is wet enough. You have to unplug/replug it). Also, one other tip: one of the units that I received still didn't work after half an hour of being in the water bottle. I found that I needed to remove the wick and then reinsert it (it had become dislodged during shipping, I'm guessing). Once I reinserted it, it worked right away. BTW - one of the units that I purchased arrived with the USB plug slightly out of place. I sent it back, and was issued a credit before it was even received back at amazon. Great service.

5+++++ stars!!! It deserves them all!!
I have been using this product for two three weeks and if i can give 10 stars i would! Before we had Crane drop humidifier which we paid around 45$ and first off -- too much mist, it made our room unpleasantly humid and second thing -- started making a weird annoying noise. Also its huge and bulky and i really didnt enjoy the cleaning. I saw this little fella and i gave it a try and bam! Love at first sight! Works perfectly! Silent yet working, misty yet not to fog up ur room, and works on a dasani bottle :-) i will order another one here pretty soon. I use it in or living room and its perfect. Sometimes i add few drops oif essential oil and it smells devine. Thank you Satechi!!!!

Works well, but not as practical for plane rides as I expected
I bought this because I thought it would help me be more comfortable on the long flights that I often take. I usually feel really dried out after a long flight. I bought this before my most recent trip, and I found that I didn't really use it as much as I thought I would. One reason is that it doesn't come with it's own power source. It comes with a USB adapter, so you must bring another power source with you that will last the duration of the trip (or however long you want it to last). It works well, and does what it's supposed to, but I found that I had to keep it really close to my face (within 12 inches) for me to feel the effects. On a long flight, this isn't really practical. It was also slightly broken when it arrived. That silver bottle cap-looking thing on the top was completely off. It looked like it was just glued on and the glue didn't last. This was purely aesthetic and did not affect the functioning of the item, so I didn't think it was a big deal. Also, this was mentioned in other reviews but it was not in the instruction manual that came with the item (but it should be!) - if at first, your humidifier doesn't work, wet the entire filter and try again. This fixed the problem for me. Although this product isn't quite as practical for plane rides as I expected, if you're planning to use this at your desk or next to your bed at night, I think it would be a good product.
