AWESOME and SHOCKINGLY loud
The best thing about this is that if you hide the alarm, it guarantees you will have to remain awake long enough that you are unable to go back to sleep even if you tried, because at highest setting it is so loud it is impossible to pinpoint the location. It seems like it comes from every direction at once, and moving around trying to sense how the loudness increases or decreases is nearly impossible in close-quarters environment. Probably easy enough to track outdoors on a football field, but inside. . . .no it gets me up, believe me. just don't set it on a lower setting than maximum, because at low or medium 70 or 90, instead of max 120, I get no difference from other alarms. highly recommended. worth the money. I hate this blasted thing but it does get the job done. I'm wondering what would happen if i put it beneath my pillow. I think i'll try that tonight. so, yeah, it's definitely loud enough to trigger the fight or flight reflex of the sympathetic nervous system, and that's gotta be why other people's descriptions so vividly describe heart-pounding, anxiety, movement and hyper-alertness. ADDENDUM [LATE ENTRY 06/18/14] Just wanted to add that turning it off is not nearly so difficult as it seems. Now that I've had it a while, it seems absurd that I ever thought of it that way. All you do is press one button in the lower left on the front panel, and simultaneously depress both keys on the side with your right thumb. If you have a thumb and at least one finger on each hand, you can do it. NOW it seems TOO EASY to turn off. Also, I would like to say that this is no longer a miracle alarm. If you, for example, take a powerful mood stabilizer such as seroquel (quetiapine), or a CNS (central nervous system) depressant such as xanax or sleeping med like ambien or lunesta, this will not KEEP you awake once you have turned it off. If you are groggy or sleep deprived enough, it will wake you up unless you are literally comatose. It will aways be the user's responsibility to stay awake once up, and resist the urge to go back to sleep. Even if it jacks your heart rate up, the pulse will return to normal, the body relax, and if groggy enough you can go back to sleep within a few minutes. It does not change a night owl into a morning person.

1st review i have ever done
****i am adding a video, but do NOT know how well the sound will come through. It WORKS (so far)!!!!!! I have only been using it for 2-nights. To say i am a deep sleeper is at times the understatement of the year. I am single mom that works two jobs and some night i take a 45-min nap before going in ALL night :( this actually wakes me up!!! THE BEST way to describe the sound level on HIGH (there are 3-levels) is to compare it with a Home smoke alarm. Your smoke alarm that has that ear piercing shrill, that is this!!! Couple things I was not aware of when I purchased this. It does work exclusively off of a 9 V battery. In saying that it is 100% completely portable. It also has a built in panic button. The “low” volume is PERFECT for a timer for anything, cooking, taking pills, laundry, kids time-outs 🤣 etc. this alarm also a built in clip. Making it easy to clip onto yourself, clothing, bag etc. My only concern if I had to list one is the alarm is so loud I worry about my neighbor. And getting annoyed…..she is already a bitch. Although not sure how to fix that and keep the noise level? Cons: (if i have to add something)…..the buttons and pic are very small and hard for me to see. The directions on the back, while very explanatory and detailed, are also small making them hard to see. The buttons are close together, making the “snooze” / turn-off a Challenge. If you are a sound sleeper and need something loud this IS the alarm clock for YOU!!!

Ear-shattering, not as tough as advertised
TL;DR: Outstanding customer service, definitely as loud as advertised, not as tough as advertised, terrible ease of use and accuracy, but I'm still buying my third one today. Five stars only on the basis that the alarm actually wakes me up. I'm also a cheapskate who's used a fully-functioning, but busted, alarm for almost 5 years. Customer Service: I bought my first Screaming Meanie in 2014, which was replaced by the company for apparently some defect that mine didn't even have that I knew of. First time I've ever gotten a warranty replacement on a product that hadn't broken yet, so I give customer service absolute top notch. A few months later, and sure enough, my original quit working, and I moved to the replacement. Loudness: I'm a ridiculously heavy sleeper most of the time. My baby cries and I'm up instantly, but I swear a car could crash through my bedroom wall and I wouldn't notice. This thing (most of the time) wakes me up. I've slept through it going off, which it does for a whole hour, a few times. This results in a headache that won't go away for hours, and a ringing in your ears that's really, really terrible. So, the product does absolutely perform the task that I bought it for, and does so quite well. Toughness: Unfortunately, the "built to withstand a 30 foot drop" claim is pretty overstated. I knocked mine off my desk onto a wood laminate floor and quite a bit of the plastic around the battery compartment shattered. Because the alarm worked so well, I've used it with the battery flopping out of it for nearly 5 years now. It took about 4 years for the wires to finally start breaking on the 9V battery plug, and I've slowly chewed away at the wire over the past year, pinching it to the battery to keep the alarm working. The alarm finally officially died last night. The board with the buttons for activating the alarm finally broke loose from the face of the clock, and sunk into the inside of the device. I'm considering rehousing it into a custom-made container and continuing to use it... I really like that this thing wakes me up, and it's the only alarm that I've ever found that does so as well as it does. Ease of Use/Functionality/Accuracy: All complete crap. Easily the worst functionality, accuracy, and ease of use in any device I've ever used. The clock slowly loses time and is never accurate. The alarm never goes off when you've set it, but goes off some arbitrary number of minutes prior to when it should - some time within 15 minutes before the time you set. The two-button combo required to activate the alarm only works if the switch is also set to "Alarm" instead of "Clock" and sometimes activates "Beacon" mode instead of activating the alarm, which just instantly sets off the alarm, which wakes the entire house if you go to bed later than your kids and stuff. The three-button combo required to turn the alarm off is equally unreliable, and often has to be pressed multiple times to get the alarm shut off, while your entire family yells at you to turn it off. The alarm time has to be reset from the current time every time you want to use it, it doesn't save the last time you had the alarm set for.

I bought this product like everyone else I needed to get up! And nothing else would, mechanical alarms, digital alarms etc etc. When I found this product I knew it was fine be the solution and trust me it was always reliable until one day when I must've damaged it by pulling the battery out morning after morning. But I'll not make that mistake twice and I'm happy to pay in total £100+ to be able to wake up reliably in the morning :)

I’ve used many of the alarms claiming to be the loudest but this one is genuinely loud and it will wake you up always. It feels like you are waking up to the purge but that’s what’s needed these days. Otherwise it’s quite good the battery lasts about 6 months before it needs replacement from my experience, the alarm gets a little quieter as the battery runs out as well keep this in mind. OTHERWISE, amazing product and a must have for heavy sleepers.

I bought this because I am working at 3 jobs and I have to wake up at 7. The product is not very fancy, but it is effective. Everyday I woke up feeling like I am in the war zone. The instructions were very clear to use it. 10/10 recommend

I bought this alarm because it is nearly impossible to wake me in the morning. I have purchased bed shaker alarms, clock radios, old style bell alarm clocks and this one comes the closest to doing the job. It is not as loud as I expected but that just be me because my husband and kids tell me it will wake the dead! It is only battery operated tho (9v) but I'm willing to go along with that because it is the loudest alarm I own. The only other thing that is kind of a pain is that you have to go and set the alarm daily...if you go to bed without setting the alarm time and turning the alarm on you're screwed. However, it is handy for travelling and is small in size, but the display is not backlit so is impossible to see the time in the dark, so not suitable if you want to check the time when you wake up in the middle of the night. But all in all, it is a very powerful little unit - surprising considering it's battery powered - and is a good value for very heavy sleepers like myself.
