IT WORKS VERY WELL AND U NEED A KEY TO GET INTO YOUR GARGE AND IT IS GERAT TO HAVE IT.

House built in 1990. Standard two car garage door. Last week key would not unlock door—key turned with no resistance. Cam inside lock probably shot. Ordered this. Came in 2 days. Installed in less than 2 minutes. Perfect. Note: the lock comes with the keys and outside piece for key entry. But to install you must remove the deadbolt from the inside first. (4 sheet metal screws). I removed deadbolt and inspected lock. The design of original lock and outside key entry piece seemed identical to my original equipment. So I slide the new deadbolt over the existing blade that key turns, used new sheet metal screws in the package and it worked Perfectly with my original keys. No need to switch out keys. Worry about hole size. Etc. Literally less that 2 minutes. Can’t comment on durability. But appears well built. Save yourself a $300 service call. Good luck

I never had a key for my old garage that was built in the 50's and needed to start storing some power equipment in it. I wasn't comfortable leaving the garage door unlocked. I found this lock here on amazon and by the pictures, it looked the same as the original. For the twelve bucks it cost and the generally good reviews, I decided to give it a try. The result is that it was an exact match for my 1950's era lock that depot and the other stores had never heard of. Installation took about 10 minutes including removing the old lock and it worked perfectly. Matching up the parts, it's almost an exact match on everything. Luckily for me, the screw length was fine, but I had my Dremel with me to shorten them if needed as some other reviews mentioned. The quality of the hardware is fine. I don't see any real difference in quality between the original and this one so none of the worries about cheap foreign made products seem to apply here. The keys look like standard schlage style keys. I'm going to get copies made. If they have any issues finding a compatible blank, I'll state that with an update to this review. I would definitely buy this lock again in the future.

the center bolt garage door lock was a great replacement, the reason for a 4 star instead of a 5 star is because the guts need grease inside so it will last forever. Great quality. The reason I say that because I work as a QC

Fit like a glove and easy to install. Works perfectly and was very smooth. So far so good as I've been using it for a few weeks now and no issues. My wife was pleased with the outcome as before I was the only on that could get the door open...as long as my son was there to do it when I told him. Now I can open the door with one hand. I highly recommend it.

I have installed my fair share of door locks over the last few years so this is a fairly straight forward process for anyone who has replaced a deadbolt. However the instructions could still cover details like you may need to trim the screws and bolt tab since garage doors are more likely to vary in thickness? I followed the instructions and when done I noticed the worryingly cheap and thin face plate was dented. Worse, the key will not go in all the way to unlock from outside and feels like it will snap off if any sort of pressure is applied. Will have to find a higher quality product to replace this....which shouldn't be hard to do.
