Welcome to the jungle! Make your own collection of botanical watercolor artworks—from an out-of-this-world looking begonia to a cute spiky cactus. Once upon a time, a vase of beautifully arranged flowers was the perfect subject for a watercolor still life. Today, indoor house plants reign supreme and palms have replaced peonies as the botanical of choice for artists. With clear step-by-step instructions, illustrator and plant lover Nikki Strange shows you how to paint a range of lush, leafy plants. Learn fundamental watercolor techniques as you recreate the glossy leaves of a monstera. Master the art of mixing delicate hues by painting different succulents. Duplicate the intricate leaves of a fern with a variety of brushes. The instruction book is printed with light guidelines for each project. With Nikki's beautiful artwork to follow and photos of dreamy interiors to inspire your decorating, this book has everything you need to add a botanical touch to your space. Review: Great book! - This is a fun book! I enjoyed working on the projects. The instructions are good the subject matter is what I like which is botanicals. She teaches you to do wet on wet and wet on dry techniques. It even comes with a watercolor book with all the sketches done for you. I used a separate watercolor paper so when I am better at painting I can go back and paint them and they will look good but for now I trace them or free hand my own. The book is fun for those times you want to paint but don’t know what to draw. I love it! Review: Wonderful set, geared towards beginner painters. - I liked the combo, and would have given it full stars, but unlike the image posted, the books come fused together. Good points: perfect for a novice painter Immediately start creating art, unlike so many other books that beat the fundamentals to death. TOO DEATH!!! Great illustrations of the techniques, and helpful hints in realism, and brush strokes.

Best watercolor instruction book!
This book is amazing! I’m trying to teach myself how to watercolor and this book is so helpful. I’ve challenged myself to go through the book and try each print at least once. The practice has improved my watercolor technique, and I’m getting Nikki Strange’s other watercolor book once I finish this one. The book comes as a set of the instruction book and the sketchpad. I was able to separate the two easily to make two independent books (book and pad). There’s a section of recommended materials in the book. The only disappointment I have is that the author doesn’t suggest specific brands of materials. You can make out a few of the brands (Dr. Ph. Martin’s watercolor inks, Molotow masking fluid), but I wish she had explicitly stated what brands of the materials she prefers to use. Overall, this book is great. I’ve enjoyed using it, it’s improved my watercolor technique, and it makes practicing watercolor fun and approachable. I’d definitely buy this again, especially as a gift.

Easy to follow and paint on.
Very nice book. Love that there are pages with faint lines to paint.

Good instruction but terrible paper for painting
I bought this primarily for the preprinted sketches on supposedly decent watercolor paper. Disappointing, because it is decidedly not good quality paper for watercolor. Even tautly taped down, the paper buckles with just a little application of water. If you want instruction, this book is ok, but if you also want to paint on pre-sketched paper, you’ll be unhappy with this book. if you don’t mind transferring the sketches to good quality 140 lb paper, however, then the book is fine.

Helpful tutorial for the watercolorist
For the watercolorist, green can be a challenging color. What comes out of the tube can look contrived. In each of the 20 exercises, the author tells you how she mixes colors to produce the greens she wants. The simple, pre-drawn botanical sketches take the worry out of composition and let you concentrate on mixing and brush technique. While the author's style is loose (and consequently very forgiving), I'm still finding this book a helpful tutorial on technique and mixing and like the finished work. My 4 stars (instead of 5) are for the quality of the color printing - when you're dealing with color, the printing process can only deliver so much.

Many compliments
My cousin and I have been completing this workbook together long distance due to the virus. It is a pleasant distraction and something to look forward to each day. I have convinced many others to join us on our painting exploration! Thank you for the great tutorials! I would gladly like to learn other types of painting this way.

Loved this book, comes with its own predrawn watercolour pad. Great book for beginners very achievable. Watercolours I used were dr PH Martins & Winsor & Newton but you could use any watercolours. ❤️❤️
