90541 Survivor 175-Lumen Alkaline Safety-Rated Firefighter Right Angle Flashlight, Yellow

So once upon a time I was sitting around reminicing about my old school army flashlight I had as a kid, and I wondered if anyone still made L neck flashlights like that, except with modern LED technology like my Maglite had. After much searching, I found this. This light is no joke. By long and far the greatest flashlight I've ever owned. Puts that dinky little GI flashlight to shame First off, it is BRIGHT, way brighter than my Maglite ever was. And not only that, because of the depth of the parabolic reflector inside, the beam goes SUPER far, and cuts through just about anything, heavy rain, snow, smoke, whatever, it just goes. It's also nice to just be able to clip it to my jacket and forget about it. That nice big button has an amazing feel, so I never even have to look at the light to find it, I can just hit it like second nature. It has a good sturdy feel to it as well, like it's not gonna pop off like other lights I have The construction as a whole is rock solid. You can tell this thing can take a beating, even though it's made of plastic. I toss this thing around because I know it can take it. And it works in any weather like I mentioned before, it is AMAZING in snow in particular. I loved going out on adventures at night during all the snow we got up here in the northeast this year with this thing. It was like day time practically. A feature I love in particular is the fact that it uses double A batteries. First off, I've owned this thing for 6 months now, and have yet to need to change the batteries (though it looks like it might need them soon). Second, unlike my Maglite, which needed D cells, which always seemed to get weak right around the time a hurricane or blizzard is coming and everyone is running around buying up all the D cells. But no one ever buys the AAs in those situations, and you get more for cheaper than the D cells, so thats where I think this thing really pays for itself. Sure it's pricy, but in the long run it'll save you in batteries Another feature I love is Moonlight mode, so I can use this thing inside instead of blinding myself at full power trying to peak into a dark corner of the house where we need a little more light or something. That is probably why the battery lasts so long, having multiple power modes like this, which is really just a convience you never knew you needed. I think I knew I made the right decision when one of my buddies who's a firefighter saw my new light and was like "We have those on our truck, they are amazing, where did you get one!?" At first I felt a little bad spending this much money on something like this, but with all that stuff combined, now I don't regret it one bit. I haven't touched that maglite since I got this thing. It is the ultimate flashlight, and the last one you'll ever need.

I'm an explorer for my local fire department and we always have our meetings during the night. The issue many of us have is that we do many of our activities and training in the dark and many of us have no flashlights, making things difficult. About a month ago, I was told that I was accepted to go to a local week long fire explorer academy. As soon I was told about this, I knew already that I needed a reliable flashlight to help me succeed and went on Amazon. I spent an hour comparing and reading reviews of multiple Streamlight models, and I decided to buy the 90545 Survivor model. It's cheap, reliable, and I bought it because I've seen some firefighters that I know use the Survivor models. I arrived at academy on the 10th of July, and it wasn't going to end until the 16th. Everywhere I went, I carried this flashlight with me and it helped me a lot. At academy, 7 training fires were done, 4 of them structure fires. While I was in the training structure fires, I had this flashlight clipped onto my chest pocket of my turnouts so that I can work and handle the hose. But before using the flashlight in it's first fire, one thing that I was confused was how the Smoke-Cutter plugs work. This model comes with 2 Smoke cutters, a yellow clear Smoke-Cutter and a black one. The Smoke-Cutters are used on the flashlight to "cut" smoke. I honestly didn't know how this would work, but as soon as I crawled into the structure, I saw what the Smoke-Cutters can actually do. It actually "cuts" the smoke, and you can see clearly because of that. There is only one instance where the Smoke-Cutter won't work, in really dense and heavy smoke, as stated by Streamlight. When I was surrounded by dense and heavy smoke in a training fire to understand how to read smoke, the Smoke-Cutter was not able to penetrate the smoke, thought when I looked down at my turnout coat, I can still see the faint glow of light. This flashlight is extremely reliable, and when I used it for the training fires at academy, I was really surprised on its performance. When you hold down the button used to turn the flashlight on, if you hold it for a few seconds it activates an "Emergency" strobe. The light will turn on and off repeatedly until you turn off the flashlight or the batteries die out. This was extremely useful and I never thought I was going to use this strobe, but unfortunately, I had too. During the last day of training (the 15th) I had an asthma attack during a training fire while in a structure. As soon as I started having difficulty with breathing, I started tapping on my helmet (a signal telling a firefighter that something is wrong). As I tapped on my helmet, I realized none of the instructors noticed, and I started to panic and feel anxious. While this was happening, my flashlight was still on and I decided to use the strobe to get an instructors attention so he can pull me out. As soon as I activated the strobe, a firefighter immediately knew something was wrong and that I was having an asthma attack (I informed them before the training fire that I had asthma). 2 firefighters pulled me out and I was given medical attention. If I had never had the flashlight, things could have ended up very badly. The strobe feature saved me. I highly recommend this flashlight, it was able to withstand extreme conditions/heat and even managed to save me during my time of need. I don't think there's any other company that can outperform Streamlight and I'm glad that I bought a flashlight from them.

Highly recommend this search light for fire fighters and first responders. Lightweight and well build. The color lens insert works well for focusing the light beam in smoke conditions. Good light strength for search and rescue operations. The on / off switch is big enough to use with fire gloves. The light also holds up well in wet conditions.

I am a full time firefighter and have used this for about 2 and a half years. I love this light! It is incredibly bright and reliable. It is much lighter than it's predecessor that had a standard light bulb and is tremendously brighter. This has seen some decent fires and still looks new. The battery lasts a long time and seems to stay at full brightness until the battery is too low. The only problem I have had with this is when I overtightened the lens, the plastic cracked at the threads. I contacted Streamlight and they sent me one at no cost to me. I have seen newer models and it looks like they have corrected this issue by not allowing over tightening to occur so don't worry about that. The Good: -Lightweight -Super Bright- has a nice focused beam. -Long Battery Life -Durable- smoke, heat, dirt, water, or impact has not affected my light at all. -Easy Operation -Great Customer Service That Back Their Product The Bad: -No Low Battery Indicator- none of the competition has this either that I know of. -Lens Cover Issue- seems to have been corrected in the newer models Conclusion: If you are a firefighter in the market for a new right angle flashlight, feel comfort in buying this one. It is battle tested and works great. I have had no real complaints with this light in the years I have had it.
