Excellent set up for some fun home photography.
Its a light weight studio. It works perfect for our fun photo shoots with our kids. Don't expect this to be some professional set up. I bought it as a lightening deal for a great price. Definitely worth the $ I paid but I don't think I would pay more. The whole set up is very light. The lights will get knocked down because of this. The muslin is really lightweight as well. I was thinking of buying a canvas to hang but it would probably be too heavy for the polls that came with. Others have said that the instructions aren't clear. This is true if you need step by step instructions. We have some engineers in our family so it was an easy set up for us. Overall, I would recommend this if your looking to just play around, especially if you've got kids. Studio portraits are $$$. With this set up, you can take your kids pictures monthly, provided you have a proper camera and know how to edit. So many apps can do that too.Hope that helps.

Great setup for those on a budget
The amount of stuff you get for the price is awesome. Was able to do a quality corporate interview type video using this setup both in house and on the road (both indoors though).Light is bright and consistent, good intensity and balance. All of the stands are of good (not excellent) quality and sturdy enough for the job. Backdrops are great, wrinkled but whatever, there's ways around that. All in all I would highly recommend this for the amateur professional on a budget, just keep your expectations in line with the cost of this setup versus other much more expensive setups.Align you expectations:-Setup and take down (after the first time) is easy except for the light boxes themselves, I just leave them assembled when transporting. Figure out what you can leave partially assembled before you go on an assignment.-The bag they give you is very handy, straps don't seem super strong, but it keeps everything together.-Invest in sandbags for every stand if you are thinking of shooting outdoors, the boom stand obviously need weight regardless of location, I don't really care for the bag they provided so I used a grocery bag with a rock in it because I'm high class.-Leave time to iron the backdrops (or use clip to pull tight) if they are going to show. I have just used the black so far, and I spaced my interviewees so the lighting just showed pure black, so wrinkles didn't matter.-I did get one broken light bulb which is annoying more than anything. New ones cost in the neighborhood of $30 at places like Calumet.-Boom stand: this is the one challenging part of the whole bit for me. The articulating joint that holds the boom arm came with a broken handle and the second handle on it broke immediately on first use. The unit is still perfectly functional, I just have to keep track of these 2 handles and use them more like wrenches now. Again, still works, just annoying.

Great deal for the price
Cheap stands, but it works, and it can last for a long time if you're gentle and don't over tighten them or do anything too crazy. I wouldn't bring these to an outdoor shoot. The picture makes the screens look much longer than they actually are, but they measure as described and are still a sufficient size for most cases.Great deal for the price.Slight annoyance that the counter weight bag for the boom stand didn't come with anything to put in it for weight. I suppose it's easy to get some sand from home depot or even your backyard, but I mean come on...

Definitely disappointed and not nearly enough light...
The first thing I noticed was that the backdrop was dimly lit and the shadows from all the wrinkles were dark. I am looking at this new set up I have all together and keep double checking that there are not hidden switches somewhere that make the lights bright...The instructions were horrible and left out most of the steps especially the light boxes. The backdrop is nothing more than a very thin sheet that wrinkles very easily. The stands are fine to me but definitely are meant to be permanent not transported.Definitely need three more lights. Two to light the back drop and one to light you up from the center. I would buy the back drop separately and get a 5 or 6 light kit instead of three or something that has 6 or 8 lights or different types of lights in the light boxes. If you are wondering like I did, if the $ $178 light kits that look the same are comparable, I am pretty they are the same. I thought these would be better because they cost more but I doubt it.

Only for Beginners
I have to say this is a low quality kit but gets the job done! I would recommend this kit for beginners only that are on a budget. It is a waste of money if your looking to purchase lighting and backdrops that will last a while. The screws are tiny that hold the stands together they eventually fall out and its complicated to keep it together because its low quality. I had this a few months now and iam looking to purchase new medal stands already because they break easily I don't want anymore trouble. I gotta say I love the soft boxes.and the lighting is perfect I wish it had a knob where you can adjust the lighting from high to low but it doesn't.The backdrops are fine its worth the money. The bar that holds the backdrop is perfect because you can adjust it to any size.If you want high quality don't buy this. Like I said perfect for beginners and tight budget It's not extremely bad but its okay.
