Love them - they DON'T look cheap!
I'm not a makeup brush aficionado, but I thought these were really nice. I was primarily concerned about quality, especially of appearance, when I bought these, but don't worry. The bamboo handle is sturdy, has a clear grain, and is coated in a nice, thick, hard, clear varnish. It looks very authentically wooden. The metal parts of the handle look real and are pretty thick - not super cheap aluminum foil-looking junk. The bristles themselves are synthetic, so they have a shine similar to Barbie hair. They don't feel like barbie hair, though. I was worried about this before I bought them, but in person it isn't an issue. The shape and coloration of the bristles make up for any sheen-they don't look cheap. Like everyone has said, the bristles are SUPER soft. They aren't the greatest with picking up product, but they're magnificent at not wasting any. I'd prefer to have to swipe a few times rather than swipe once but waste lots of my makeup. My makeup went on incredibly smoothly- better than with other brushes I've used. The brushes are all pretty dense- I was pleasantly surprised. The small Kabuki isn't very dense, but the big Kabuki really is. I think that was on purpose so you could have a really light finishing brush. As far as the smell goes, I didn't find it overwhelming unless I practically stuck the brush up my nose-which I don't suggest you do. They came with a tiny manual that suggested soaking the brushes in warm water and shampoo for ~30 minutes to get rid of any lingering smells from the factory, which I did. The baggie they come with is a simple cotton drawstring. It isn't really sturdy, but is effective. Plus, you aren't buying this set for the bag, you're buying the brushes. Additionally, these were shipped from Kentucky, not China, in case you were worried about that kind of thing. I've only used these a couple of times, but I really like them and they seem built to last. Plus, you can't beat this price!

Makeup brushes
Came in a bright orange pouch, with each brush in a separate sleeve for shipping. Brushes definitely have a strong smell when you first open them. I'm hoping a good wash and some time to air out will help. The brushes feel really soft, and the handles seem solid. I didn't notice any immediate fallout either. One thing that made me laugh were some of the suggested brush uses. They give you a little insert with a picture of the brushes and then provide descriptions for each. The one was marked as a "Big Eye Shadow Brush" (picture included) but would literally be as big as your entire eyelid. Probably better for concealer or foundation. Also, the one they designate for blush (also pictured) is so tiny, I can't imagine you would have good results with it. Overall, I'd say this is a decent set if you're looking for more options at a low price. Just maybe use the brushes for whatever makes the most sense to you, not what is written in the insert. :)

kabuki brushes are so much better than the kind you find in drugstores/supercenters;)
I am on a budget so I cannot afford to spend a lot on makeup brushes. Last week, I was at a super-center and spent a lot on ELF products. Then I saw these and thought I would give it a try. The price is crazy good for how many brushes you get. Order this and you will not regret this. These brushes are really nice, soft, delicate and smooth on your skin. In comparison to the ELF brushes, the ELF brushes were hard and gave streaks.... definitely did not give me a flawless look. These kabuki brushes make your makeup look much better. I returned the ELF brushes. The item came fast and looks like the image. I gave it 4 stars because I wish the shorter brushes were longer. This is a minor issue since they work fine and are lovely. Another reason for the 4 stars is that I wish they offered more brushes. I would be willing to pay a few dollars more if they added more eye brushes and concealer brushes. They give what you need and it is good but I like to have a specific brush for a specific use. I would definitely buy again. In fact, after receiving these, I ordered another set of kabuki brushes...not this brand but another to mix it up a bit. Kabuki brushes are lovely in general. I highly recommend. They came in plastic wrapper in a sack-like bag. The bag is ugly and your basic drawstring but it does fit all the brushes. You are buying for the brushes. This bag is an afterthought. Buy this. You will really like them.

Worth the Purchase!
I purchased these brushes for the 1st time in 2017 and just purchased them again in 2025! I love them! For the price theyโre definitely worth the purchase and get the job done just as well as high end brushes!

Love this set A+
EmaxDesign 12 Pieces Makeup Brush Set Professional Bamboo Handle Premium Synthetic Kabuki Foundation Blending Blush Concealer Eye Face Liquid Powder Cream Cosmetics Brushes Kit With Bag I own over 60 brushes ordered this set on the lighting deal and ordered another set on their way! I absolutely love these brushes and so glad I caught them when I did. I am a shopaholic when it comes to makeup and makeup tools. I called a store I order from all the time the lady asked as she was looking at my orders. "May I ask why you ordered three setting powders and as I always say I have it if I need it. I am the same with makeup brushes. I wanted a Bamboo wooden handle set and I feel in-love with this set of my first use of the eye shadow blender. I actually had three sets out and put away my other two having two more in a drawer. Thus far and I know makeup and beauty tools so far these are the best brushes I own so far! I strongly recommend them for starters and pros. Very easy to handle and blends very well. No hair fall out as I have already washed them and used a makeup brush conditioner on this set. If you're looking for a nice Bamboo set to go in your makeup station area this set is it. Of course I will mix each others up but I am really pleased with this set. And for the price can't beat it. I may order a backup of these, we can never have enough!

Love these
These brushes are all I'd hoped they'd be: quality, soft as heck, and useful in their variety. I've had a lot of fun trying them out and not necessarily for the purposes listed on the sheet that came with the brushes. In fact I got a kick out of the one that was said to be a blush brush and it has a tiny head (it's the 8th brush on the left in the picture)--haha. But that aside, I knew what I wanted to do with each brush and hands down every one of them has performed beautifully. I usually use the flat topped brushes to put foundation on, but I can see using the smaller domed brush for that too. I use the large domed brush or the shorter one to apply loose or compact powders. I use the soft smaller brush heads for different concealer type products and the one very firm small brush (5th from the left) to apply a small amount of shadow close to my lashes (though that purpose isn't working so well as it doesn't go on smoothly and some of the shadow drops onto my lashes--I'll have to try another brush). I really like the shorter brushes to take when I travel. As far as bristles coming out, so far I have seen only 1. I've washed these brushes several times with dish soap because it really cuts the grease that is in foundation and concealer well. In between washing them, I wipe them off with an alcohol wipe especially after using foundation and concealer for sanitary reasons. That's a tip I got from another reviewer and it works great with these brushes. After washing, a couple of the brushes weren't completely dry the next morning--not a big deal as I still could have used them cuz they were 90% dry. These brushes feel really great in my hands. They are lightweight and sturdy feeling and I especially like the ones with the thicker than usual handles. The only one I haven't used and never will since I don't use mascara and eyebrow powder is the eyebrow/eyelash brush. I also won't be using the first brush on the left (the typical foundation brush) since I much prefer the flat or domed type for that use and I already have three of that type anyway. I can also use either the flat or the domed for blush. It's fun to try different things with these brushes and I've been a little surprised, such as with the 8th brush on the left that I tried with concealer, at how well they can work even if I didn't initially think of it at first. IMO these brushes are every bit as good any more expensive brushes I've had and I think I'll get some more to give as gifts for Christmas.

Hoping for the best
Delivery was fast two of my brushes were not sturdy. They came apart, but I will be testing them out. I will post an update in a few months.

10/10 winner!!
I bought these brushes a year ago when my backpack was stolen in Europe, which included my make up bag! The only brush I had at the time was a $30 Mac brush. I know it's outrageous. so I decided that I want a whole set, and I wasn't looking to spend hundreds of dollars. I found this on Amazon and I fell in love with the bamboo handles, it had really good reviews so I decided to go for it! spoiler alert, I made the right choice. When these arrived, I was so impressed by the quality and how solid it felt in the hand. The bamboo handles were beautiful just as I hoped and the bristles were really soft and nice! barely any fallout happens with the bristles, but it still happens once in a while. it's just a thing you can't really avoid. it's been a year since I've had these and the metal part has not came loose and everything is still intact and feels just as new as they came!! The best part is just the brushes overall for the price. these are EXTREMLY affordable (as if it weren't a steal already!!) if you were debating on buying these, buy it!! don't hesitate, these are the winner!!

AMAZING! The only brushes you'll ever need!
Holy cow! These brushes are WONDERFUL! I couldn't believe how soft they were and what a difference they'd make to my makeup application, but they made applying cosmetics a dream! The handles are lovely to hold, the bag they come in is lovely too and there are more brushes than you can shake a stick at! In particular, the eyebrow comb/brush is great for me because I have eczema on my eyebrows and the stuff bristles of the brush get rid of the flaky skin, while being gentle enough not to make my skin red. My daughter has a set of brushes she paid about ยฃ30 for, and she ignored them and used mine because these brushes kick the ass of hers! The foundation brushes and kabuki brush are as soft as the softest animal fur and feel lovely against your skin, and the eye shadow brushes and blender are super effective for easy, controlled application of eyeshadow and for smudging eyeliner. This bag of brushes is all you'll ever need, and the ladies in my family are probably all going to end up with some for Christmas! For the price, you'd be crazy not to buy them and honestly, they are easily as good (if not far superior) to brushes at quadruple the price!

Love it!
Ordered: January 26 2015 Received: February 26 2015 Delivery Estimate: 19 Feb - 9 March 2015 Price: 11.99 + free shipping Destination: From China(facility) to Canada(my home) Seller: MY LIFE Bristles: synthetic taklon Very soft, no animal hair Smell: -before wash: It smelled a little bit like plastic and glue but I personally don't smell my brushes so I don't mind. :) -After wash (used diluted Dr. Bronner's magic soap in Lavender): No longer has a scent + with makeup it will kinda smells like makeup haha bamboo handle: -some are a little bit bulkier -steady and glazed -different sizes -yellowy light wood looking color Outside packaging: -Came in an off-white colored pouch, great for traveling Powder brush: oval shape, great for blush, setting powder, bronzer, blending... Pencil brush: round and pointy, great for bottom lash line, highlight on inner corners, other detailed areas Flat paddle foundation brush: liquid or cream foundation, my favorite paddle brush!! All of my other paddle brushes leave streaks, even my Real Techniques one! But this one is very soft, flexible and great for blending! Fluffy eye blending brush: Great for blending eyeshadow on the crease. It kind of has an awkward length, it has long bristles so it's very flexible. So I would use this to create a wash of color and to blend. Bigger fluffy blending brush: Great for contour, concealer, maybe a little too big for the eyes but you can try :) perfect in between size. Small flat brush: great for concealer, very flexible, great to pat eyeshadow onto lids... Short powder/blush/bronzer brush: very dense, perfect for loose makeup too. Angled Shader brush: great for eyeshadow on the lid, crease, brow bone, conturing the nose, etc. Flat top Kabuki: dense enough to blend foundation, great for buffing in loose powder, foundation, etc. Angled brush: great for eyebrows, gel eyeliner, eyeshadow on bottom lash line... Smallest flat top kabuki: less dense than flat top kabuki, great for blending, great for touchups. General rating: I would really give this a 10/10 because there's barely anything wrong with this kit! My favorites are the angled eyeliner brush and the paddle foundation brush. I know this was a long review oups ^.^ Thanks for reading, have a great day :)

Long lasting brushes
I've had these brushes for almost four years now, and they were a great buy. The cost was really reasonable, and I use them regularly. The little chunky one is a great size to fit in my mobile makeup bag and gets a work out with liquid foundation every single day - it's gone through countless washes with no loss of brush hair, and always cleans up like new. Recommend.
