Great value for your money. I shopped around for weeks to find an affordable insert and this one exceeded all of our expectations. We’ve had it for two years now and it still works great. It emits great heat, it’s easy to light (keep in mind it is a manual start), but it is a bit on the loud side. Even on low, you can hear the hissing sound of the gas, but it’s not too bad. The logs look great, too. I’ve had numerous people ask if it’s a wood burning fireplace when it’s not lit. Overall, really happy with it.

Had to buy an inexpensive copper tubing to reach my gas outlet on the opposite side of the heater but hooked up very easy. Continues to work efficiently, turns on easily, keeps me warm in my older home. Did have a strong smell like other reviews mentioned but was gone after 2 days of about 4 hrs use each time. My cat loves the warmth! His bean bag is close by. It has the hissing sound of gas but not a problem when it keeps you warm & can watch the fire ambiance. Haven't used the central heat since getting this. I love it!

Hubby had this hooked up in minutes after buying a 3/8" 36 inch flexible gas line, needed due to the gas line coming in on the LH side of the FP. We are using this is in the prefab FP that was installed when the house was built in '87. This Majestic fireplace has never drafted well; has smoked terribly no matter what we tried (reduce the opening with a shield, leaving a nearby slider open, even trying a cutom grate and fireback that was touted to eliminate smoking in practically all instances (not in our case :-( ), so we resigned to not be able to burn wood in it. We've had this on, as ventless (damper closed, FP external air feed flap open), in our 2900 sq ft open floor plan two story home with vaulted ceilings and it has warmed the whole living area like the FAU never has. We started it today (mid-50 degree, damp weather) on the lowest setting @ 69 degrees for the lower house level @ 12:30 and two hours later, it was 74 degrees on the bottom floor and 80 upstairs! The FAU would have been belting away all that time and it never gets that warm. There was a little smell in the first few hours, but that seems to have diminished a lot; wasn't all that bad. It is important to position the logs correctly so as not to have the flame hitting them directly. We've also tried the FAU fan to distribute the warm air throughout the house, as the return it located in the second story open ceiling where the warmest air accumulates. When considering the excellent price, free Prime shipping, great perfomance, this is an excellent purchase.

Nice log set for the price point. Pros: Easy assembly, nice look, vent less, price. Cons: really intended to right side gas supply (when viewed from the room looking into the fireplace), constant sound of gas flow regardless of setting, the gas components are noticeable) I'd buy this again in a heart beat but not for the house I plan to spend the rest of my life in. There are enough logs to make it look nice but the burner and controls are obvious when completely assembled. The gas sound is a little obvious but quickly becomes ignored background/white noise. I purchase an accessory installation kit that had a flexible hose and alternative fittings then removed the elbow adapter they want you to hook onto the tubing they include with he kit to make my left side gas supply work. This bad boy puts out some heat. We got it for when we loose power during the winter so it doesn't get run very often.

I waited to rate the product wanting to see how the unit performed throughtout the heating season. The unit adequately heated my 1300 sq ft home with no problem on the low setting. Performance wise I would give it 5 stars. However there where some initial issues. The first set I got stopped working after 2-3 hrs. I had no problems accessing factory reps and they advised I send unit back to amazon, which was painlessly arranged online. I did have to repack the unit and take it to ups center to reship which required time effort and gas expense on my part. The new unit arrived within a few days and with a few adaptive fittings was up and running without too much difficulty. With the burner ignited, initially the logs emitted a strong kerosene like odor, which took roughly 12 hrs of burning at the high setting before it dissipated. The unit doesn't look like accompanying picture as the control knob is visible on the front lower right side and does diminish the overall appearance. Putting aside the initial issues and knob location, for the money, I believe the unit to be an excellent value, as it does perform well in heating my home beyond my expectations .

I have just arranged to return this set to Amazon. Despite repeated attempts by ourselves and later by a plumber, we could not get the burner to light. We checked the gas line to the fireplace and the gas pressure. No problem with either. We also checked all of the fittings. The pilot lit okay and burned with a steady blue flame, so we know that gas was reaching the burner. The problem was likely the regulator, but I refused to pay any more money than I already had to try and fix it. Amazon will refund my purchase price, but the initial savings on the item was eaten up by the extra cost of a plumber. I considered asking for a replacement, but really don't want to take another chance on a product from this manufacturer. The picture looks nice. Shame I can't tell you that it actually looks that good when burning in the fireplace.
