Perfect for kids
Perfect for the purpose. Well built, clear image, easy adjustment for kids; large focus knob. Relatively low price compared to lab-quality stereo microscopes. But, this is no lab microscope. Plastic construction, better and more optics could be wished for, better lighting. My 4-year old find it easy and intuitive to use. Maybe straight oculars is better for him than inclined ones, the company also make a model with 45degrees tilted oculars.

good value for kids
Very good for the price. Good choice for a first microscope for kids - they will get more use from a top-viewing low-magnification stereo scope like this than a high power slide microscope. Not the highest quality construction, and not the best field-of-view - but if your kid really really likes it and is careful with it, you'll know that it's worth investing in a more advanced instrument.

It's a small world after all!
This scope exceeded my expectations as far as build quality and function. I bought it for my 9 year old daughter for Christmas and we were having a blast looking at things like part of a dollar, and gnat from the window sill, and the difference between salt and sugar crystals! I was showing her how to sketch what she sees, hopefully combining her two interests - art and science. It's good enough that I might be getting myself one as well :)

Nice Microscope
This was a pleasant surprise. Very good performance for the price and my 5 year old grandson (scientifically advanced for his age) loved it. It was perfect for examining his fossils and various items from the backyard. It comes with 2 different power eyepieces to give you 10X and 20X. One problem, the white base insert doesn't stay in when it is put back in the styrofoam box insert. It would be nice if it snapped in more securely. Another problem with the one I got is that one of the eyepieces doesn't fit down in the hole all the way. It stays up about 1/8 of an inch. While it might affect a grownup's viewing, I doubt a child will notice at all. I would definitely recommend purchasing this for a child.

Takes some getting used to
I bought this to aid in working with small, electronic parts. The magnified image is sharp and clear. However, you may have a period of adjustment while learning to use the product.
