The Sharp EL-1801V is hands-down one of the best printing calculators I’ve used in my career. From the moment I plugged it in, I was impressed by its crisp, two-color printing and the large, easy-to-read 12-digit LCD display. Whether I’m calculating margins, reconciling accounts, or preparing reports, this calculator keeps up with my pace thanks to its fast 2.5 lines-per-second print speed. The dedicated cost/sell/margin keys are a game-changer for quick business calculations, and the One-Touch Change Calculation function is a thoughtful addition that saves time. The keys are well-spaced and responsive, making long sessions of data entry comfortable and error-free. It’s built like a tank—solid, stable, and clearly designed for heavy use. I appreciate that it uses a standard Victor IR40T ink roller, which is easy to replace and keeps maintenance simple. While it’s AC-powered and not portable, that’s a fair trade-off for the performance and reliability it offers. If you need a dependable calculator for your desk that won’t let you down, the EL-1801V is a fantastic choice. Perfect calculator for me! I have had this for a few months and I use it daily with no issues. The keys are big enough for my fat fingers and it feels very well made. It is easy to clean with a wet wipe or Clorox wipe also. No complaints from me.

This is my second purchase of this calculator. The first one I bought in 2019 and it died about 7 years later, as a tax professional I love the layout and feel of this calculator, since I use it on almost a daily basis. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if the quality of this unit is going to be the same. The new unit only weighs about half of what the old unit did, the screen instead of being dark with green numbers, is now backlit green with green numbers, the upper row of buttons (cost, tax, etc) are in a slightly different layout, and the power cord, instead of being permanently attached, is now a removable one.

Sharp EL-1801V Adding Machine I was looking for a fluorescent display because they are easier for me to read. This "calculator" operates just like what we used to call an "adding machine". You put in the number, then press the function (i.e., add or subtract, etc. the number), and repeat again for the next number...then hit the total button and you get the total. This unit works exactly like adding machines have worked for many decades (but this one is faster, lighter and smaller than the old machines). Some folks (my wife included) were disappointed because this adding machine does not function as a "calculator". With "calculators", you enter a number, then enter "add or minus" button, then the second number and there is your total. You do not have to tell the machine how to handle each number you enter, beginning with the first number. Even so, this is an excellent printing adding machine. This one is suited for folks who do taxes, business folks who need cost, sell, average, margin buttons because it has dedicated buttons for those functions. It is also great because you can read the lighted display n any lighting situation. On top of that, you get a bonus feature because this machine can tell you how much change the customer is due. You put in the price of the item, subtract the currency the customer gives you, press the blue "change" button at the top left of keyboard and "Viola", the amount of change that the customer should get is displayed. This machine takes standard size printing paper and prints fast in 2 colors (red and black). You also have the choice of selecting whether or not you want the machine to give you a count of the number of items you have added, plus another button that will add the date (and time) the paper tape was run. It has an internal battery that keeps track of the date and time. The date and time are not constantly displayed, but one press of the "clock/calender" button will give you the date and/or time (after you set it up of course). The instructions for setting it up are easy to follow. This is a wonderful device for us mathematically challenged folks. The Amazon 3rd party vendor "Best Source Stationer" (in Monroe, NY) is excellent. Best Source gave me an order confirmation, shipping notice confirmation, and very quick delivery. I highly recommend this product.

I wish I would have found this little gem before I bought 3 other adding machines. I was able to return the others but this one is a keeper. I used my bosses the other day and had to have it. It is small but big enough for anyone that is 10key by touch. It has the bells and whistles that I need and it is not loud when I need to print. Definitely not the old type sound of a ribbon machine but for sure not noisy like the new roller machines. It’s a ton quieter than the last 3 I bought! Will be keeping this one.

This replaced a canon which I had for over 30 years. It’s perfect and easy to use. Would highly recommend. Love the green display

This calculator worked great for the 10 months I've had it. Now --- and as several others have pointed out -- the printing motor does NOT stop running. It doesn't matter if you turn off printing, the motor keeps running. The calculator still functions, but the printing mechanism just keeps running, even when not printing. Did I mention it KEEPS RUNNING! Even when turned off!!! It only stops if unplugged. You can still use it, so long as you don't mind it sounding like a hair dryer even when NOT printing. This turned out to be a poor quality machine and a waste of money for having it less than a year. It's only warranted for 6 months. Do yoursel a favor and AVOID this calculator. UPDATE - I increased my rating to 4 stars. I called the company and told them about this issue. They responded by saying that they were aware of a small number of defective units with this problem and they sent me a brand new replacement. The new one is the exact same model but it now has an A/C adapter which you need to plug into the back of the calculator. The display is also a bit different in that it is more green and the numbers are larger. Not a big deal, and I'm happy with the end result.
