I Love This Awesome Fan :-)
This is an extremely powerful "blower" type fan. It is not really intended to be used in a home, but I do. It's target market are large areas such as automotive garage and such. But I have special needs and use it in my home. TLDR: Very Powerful High Velocity Fan of Totally Unique Design, Not as Noisy as Some Say, It's Powerful Air Stream When Pointed At You Has a Great "Wind Chill Effect" That Will Turn Sitting in An 80 degree Room Make You Feel Like You Are Outdoors On a Windy Autumn Day. I live in a midrise building in the Metro D.C. Area. It is constructed very well with cinder block and brick that retains heat very well, which is great in the winter but not so great in the spring. Rather than an individual heat-pump for each unit it has a central HVAC system that creates either heat or A.C, but has to be "changed over" from one to the other according to the season. While the management is pretty good about changing over from heat to A/C early, there is always at least a 3-4 week period before the heat is turned off while the temp outside during the day ranges from 70 to 80. This coming Monday it will be in the low 80's and all week will be in the hi 70's, but the heat will still be on (hot water will be running throught a large nine story building which brings heat to my unit even if with my HVAC convector unit turned off. Because of its solid construction the building will retain that heat within my unit.). The temperature in my unit is usually 10+ degrees warmer than the outside air while the heat remains on. This fan will not lower a room's temperature, but have it pointed at you and it's wind chill factor will literally act as an airconditioner within a narrowly focused degree range (Wind-chill is the perceived decrease in air temperature felt by the body on exposed skin due to the flow of air.) The fan is able to throw its airflow for long distances. My living room is only 25' long so am not able to tell you its maximum air throw ability. I sit approximately 7 feet from the fan. It is so powerful I only need to run it on low where the noise level is a surprising low level and not irritating, pleasnt white-noise. But even on high, it is not that loud, condsidering it is a high velocity fan. And the wind speed it generates at high will literally blow stuff off your table or desk, so it is unlikely you would use the fan at the high setting without the fan being relatively far from you, thus reducing the noise you hear. The fan has louvers that allow you to adjust the direction of the wind flow vertically. It also oscilates. On/off/speed/and oscilaiation all can be set via the remote. It also has a timer function. Once the A/C is turned on in my building I will use it to bring cold air nore efficiently from my living room, where the HVAC convector is located, to the adjoing dining room area and use the oscilation feature I have been using Lasko products for years and have found them to be reasonably priced and problem free and durable.

One word describes this fan: POWERFUL!
This fan will blow you away literally! I like loud and powerful fans... and if you're anything like me you'll like this one. In the past I would just have a desk fan sitting like a foot away from my face, while sleeping. But in my current place I don't have an end-table by my bed so I have to resort to a standing fan that is about 15 feet away from me. Now, I've tried out quite a few pedestal fans and most of them will give you a slight breeze that doesn't quite give you that tornado ripping through your room feeling that I was so dying for. This one definitely delivers on the airflow... and if you like a noisy fans, this one will definitely excite you. THE POSITIVES: - Extremely powerful airflow on HIGH. Feels like you have an F5 tornado in your room. (Even on LOW it has great airflow. Probably around a F2.) - Extremely LOUD... This is either a positive or a negative for you. On HIGH setting though it does sound like a JET is outside of your window. THE NEGATIVES: - Extremely LOUD... This is a negative for those that don't want to go deaf by age 40. - The remote is basic... Not like you really need an LCD screen on your fan remote or anything. ;) The remote does get the job done though. FINAL VERDICT: It's a great fan for people like me that want a powerful and loud fan that makes them feel like they're in a wind tunnel. You can also use this fan in large rooms in which you want to keep cool in the hot summer. The Lasko 4930 is definitely a home-run. P.S: You might want to sleep with earplugs if you plan on sleeping with it on HIGH setting... because I wasn't kidding about the deaf by age 40 part. :)

Loud and Proud
Use this in my home which does not have Central Heating and Air. We have a window unit and then fans set up around the house to circulate it. Sadly, if it isn't Winter, it's Summer (and almost no inbetween) so this gets used quite often. It has been quite the blessing. It is a high powered fan which has no problem moving air from one end of my living room to the other and has been instrumental in getting our home to a good temperature. If you enjoy white noise, it's a dream come true. It is loud, there is no doubt. Not quite jet engine (though I've joked about it a few times) however it is noticeable and you will be raising the TV volume a few extra levels or opting for headsets. Power wise, very few other tower fans come close, and if there were only one single tower fan that I could continue to use, it would be this one. The two grates on the bottom do a great job of capturing dust/cat hair and unscrewing them to clean further has not been an issue. It's loud, and it's proud, and it does it's job. So far it's been a year and still roaring strong. All I can ask. Hope this helps.

Truly is a high velocity fan!
Quick background: I moved to San Antonio back in September just barely missing out on the hot summers. Because of this, I have yet to worry about high AC costs that are bound to hit me. Now that it is March, I felt it was about time to start looking for a way to keep my living room cooler. Also, I am just a huge fan (pun intended) on having windows open and a fan on me. The constant air flow is a lot more comfortable than stagnant air at the same temperature. When starting my search, Lasko was a name I was willing to take seriously. While their products aren't always the best looking nor the best feeling (tons of what seems like cheap plastic), their products do some to work as expected and last a long time. When I came across this model while searching, "High Velocity" caught my eye, enough though I was willing to bet it was no more than a marketing term to grab eyes (it got mine right?). Then I starting to read reviews. Once after another talked about how this unit put out more air than any other floor fan they have used. Plenty of users also said it was louder than most fans, even at the lowest setting. I am not nearly as sensitive as some, so I thought I would give the fan a try. Wow! People were not lying when they said this floor fan is powerful! Even on setting 1 (there are three levels), this fan is more than enough for most apartment room sizes and just about any bedroom. Mine is about 10 feet from my couch and provides plenty of flow. It also rotates far enough in either directions to cover seating areas around a TV. So far, I have only used setting 3 when blowing air out of the apartment (getting out the smell of cooked bacon). It did a decent job at spending up the process. The noise is a little loud. It could be a bit much for those that depend on music/sound coming from phones, tablets and bad laptop speakers. Most televisions shouldn't be a problem, though movies with a lot of quiet dialogue will have to be turned up a bit to compensate. I do have one main complaint The loudness isn't too bad for the amount of air that is flowing, but I would have preferred if Lasko would have included a setting that was not as strong. I occasionally would like to have it on and barely be able to hear it. Given that I read the other reviews, this wasn't exactly surprising though that it wasn't included. A minor complaint would be the placement of the remote receiver on the top of the fan. If you are sitting down, you have to hold your arm up and point the remote downward. It can be a bit annoying. I also wish that the fan beeped every time it received the signal from the remote. It takes a second or two before the fan starts rotating after pressing the remote. This can make it a bit difficult to tell whether the fan received the signal. These two issues combine to take away from the experience a bit. Would I recommend this item? Most definitely. It does exactly what it is advertised to do, and does it well. I would only look at a different fan if my couple complaints are serious issues for your personal situation.

Cooling air!
Long story lol...We decided to buy this type of fan and the lasko brand after seeing a similar model at the inlaws house. Theirs is still working after having it for a few years now. We were always fascinated about how a fan can blow cool air. During this recent September Jersey heat wave, we proscrastinated (end of the summer mind you), and couldn't find any decent fan to buy in person. Every store was sold out or had the traditional fans that we needed to avoid. We became so hot and desperate we order this fan for the price. We are very particular with spending money since we are on a tight budget. After a couple of days realizing the standard free shipping was two weeks and we were melting we upgraded the shipping to expedite $19.99 (not a prime item).the shipping company It was definitely worth it when it arrived the next day. Now of course the heatwave had passed for the most part but once we plugged it in it we were refreshed by the cooler air. The temperature was 72 with 79% humidity. We have AC in the living room but it doesn't reach the bedroom on most days. We had a regular old school standard fan that blew hot air on us. Now as I'm writing this under the covers because the fan is blowing cool air, I put the timer for 4hours because I can sense that we will not need it running the full time. Also we are only needed level 1 at the moment and it has 3 levels. It has a remote control which if we don't lose it will come in handy when being lazy. The oscillating is about 40 degrees by looking at it so it can reach a lot of the room depending how you place the fan. The noise on level 1 is not bad at all. Its white noise. It is a high velocity fan so level 2 and 3 will have noticable wind noise that may battle the TV for your ears attention. The blue light on the fan is noticeable. Its not really bad but having eclipse type curtains it's like moon light atmosphere. But I'll keep it uncovered for our daughter as a night light.

Best fan I have ever bought! *UPDATE 2017, 2019, 2021*
#1 they are not joking when they say 'high velocity'. My room is pretty large and the wind hits the back wall, and back through the room. Talk about a nice cool down. #2 No moving parts that my 15 month old can get into. He has stuck his fingers in the slots with no initial worry from me he would get them chopped off like with a standard circular fan. He knows now not to stick his fingers in there, even though he wouldn't get hurt. #3 remote control of the fan is a plus. #1 con- the other reviews shared about the oscillation turning no more than 45 degrees. Well that's true, and it kind of sucks. I feel the room could be better cooled if the fan had better oscillating range. This is my only mechanical complaint. The fan came Fully assembled, as it states on the box. So it was easy plug- in- play. I recommend this fan if you don't like moving parts for safety reasons (small children) and you like a fast cooled room. UPDATE 25 Apr 2017 This fan is still going strong after 3 years! It was worth what I paid for, as we use this off and on all year long; to cool or to circulate the air. You do have to clean the dust bunnies every now and then, just like any other fan, but I put this up there as a best Buy! UPDATE 2019: Still have this fan. Itโs taken a beating all these years. The only thing that has happened is the oscillation now has a โthunkโ sound when it comes back from the left. Itโs not too loud but loud enough to notice. It still going strong though. We clean it (use compressed air) to get the dust bunnies out, when needed. No other complaints. We also bought an updated version of this fan for another room. Best fans out there imo. We will only by this brand. ๐ Update 2021 This fan is still going strong. The oscillation knocks, but other than that, it still works. We clean it on a regular basis with canned air. I bought other for another room 2 yrs ago and today Iโm buying another. I will not buy another brand.

Very Powerful, Somewhat Loud
At first, I couldn't decide between this fan and the Lasko 4924. After all, the pictures looked identical and I could not tell the difference. I called the company and they said the 4930 is a newer model, with a remote and a timer. Besides that, it is virtually the same as the 4924. This fan is VERY POWERFUL. It can cool a room instantly and blows a significant amount of air. It blows loose papers around so if using it an office, that paperweight will come in handy! I own several fans, including a Vornado and this is much better than the Vornado (and cheaper). I feel that this blows more air than the Vornado, and the temperature of the air that it blows is cooler. The timer is a great feature, it uses a lot of energy so I always turn the timer on so if I leave the room and forget to turn it off, it turns itself off. The only downside to this fan is that it is rather loud. If you have it in the same room as your TV you will either need to turn the setting on the fan down or turn the TV up. Since this is such a powerful fan, you get a lot of cooling just on the lowest setting. Remember, it is a high velocity blower so I guess the noise is a trade off for the amount of air you have blowing. The recessed handle in the back makes it easier to carry from room to room, and the directional louvres do help direct the flow of air. I recommend it, but the noise can be irritating at times. Other than that, I feel it is the best fan on the market, and the price is very reasonable.

Not recommended for home
The Lasko 4930 35-Inch Remote Control Oscillating High Velocity Fan indeed moves air. However, without an air conditioner turned on in the same room at the same time, your body will not feel cooled unless you were within 2-3 feet of it. With an air conditioner, the fan will cool a large room in 10-15 minutes, but won't a proper size air conditioner do the same without a fan? In addition, the Lasko fan is windtunnel LOUD, even on its lowest setting. It may be OK used in an area that is equally loud, but not so much in a small to medium size room in which you want to hear the TV without using the loudest volume level. Also, the remote the control is very cheap and doesn't work consistently. In most cases, I have to stand within 2-3 feet of the fan and even then it does not work sometimes. This fan does work, but is not as home-friendly as I would have liked. Still, I kept the Lasko fan because it was not worth the return costs and I no longer have the box. Previously, I owned an Enviracaire EFY-045 Digital Tower Fan with Ionizer and it worked great for 5 years. The Enviracaire was nearly whisper quiet, provided COOL air (without A/C) within 6-8 feet at its lowest setting and its remote worked well in that range too. It could also cool an entire room quickly with an A/C on. To replace the Lasko, I bought the Seville Classics UltraSlimline Tower Fan & 17" Personal Fan Combo at COSTCO for $60. The tower is similar to the Enviracaire in function and is working wonderfully for now, providing cool air with minimal noise and a reliable remote control. I haven't tried the personal fan yet.

Need to keep cool?
High powered fan. Has 3 speeds, lowest is quiet, but the other 2 settings are loud. However this fan does a great job of cooling the room down, & with its higher settings you can have it blow from far away, this helps with the noise & covering a larger space. The box it came in was crushed & in bad shape, due to the very thin cardboard, I felt lucky the fan wasnt damaged.
