Review: Stellar Iron, excellent value. - Update: Two years later, and this iron is still awesome. I still use it nearly weekly, and it hasn't failed me. Original review: This is a great iron, way better than I was expecting for $40. It has some heft to it, which I like as I find it makes it easier to iron. Don't get me wrong, it's not heavy, it's just not a light crappy plastic piece of trash. It genuinely gets really hot on the higher settings, and puts out lots of steam, making it possible to iron jeans, and obstinately wrinkly heavy cotton shirts with ease. I really can't say anything bad about this iron. Also, the controls are easy to understand and use. I picked this iron by sorting my search results by customer review, and then picking one that seemed like good value for the money. I was tempted to get one of the fancy Rowentas, but after reading reviews decided to give this one a shot. It has totally exceeded my expectations. My ironing experience has been what I would have expected from the Rowenta, but for half the money or even less (and some of the Rowenta reviews aren't so hot, which gave me pause). Anyways, in case it's not clear: buy without reservation. The only caveat is I've only been using it a few weeks, I'll update if anything goes wrong.
Review: So Good I'm Tempted to Buy a Spare! - I've had a few bad iron relationships and was ready to break-up with the current one that enjoyed throwing up on everything, leaving water stains that required washing before wearing. It's been so long since I had an iron I really liked that I began to think it was me, not them. I did a bit of research in the desertcart reviews and was all ready to buy an expensive iron by another manufacturerer that was twice the price until I saw recent reviews that indicated a product decline that came after they moved their manufacturing to another country. I decided to try this iron based on the many favorable reviews - thanks to all who contribute - and it being listed as their #1 Best Selling Iron. When I saw how well the iron was packaged, I had a good feeling about it. I don't think I've ever had an iron that was wrapped in tissue and the plate had cardboard attached to protect it. There were also cardboard inserts that prevented the iron from moving - simply awesome protective packaging. Then I encountered something amazing - an instruction manual! The last few appliances we received had none, so this was absolutely impressive. The iron has the largest water reservoir of any I've seen and I was able to iron several man's shirts with the steam setting in the mid-range without using half the water. It even comes with a little container with a small spout for filling the reservoir. The iron has multiple steam settings and is effective even at the lowest steam setting - and the higher settings produce such plentiful steam that you can almost give yourself a facial (OK, so I exaggerate, but only a bit). While the weight of the iron is a bit more than my past few irons, I quickly adjusted and the glide of the iron across clothing was so smooth it actually required less effort than the lighter weight. The iron has a digital display and you press a little button to increase the temperature settings. At each setting, the display shows the numerical setting and the type of fabric it is appropriate for. To turn the iron off, you hold the button in for a few seconds until the display darkens, indicating it is shut off. I love this iron and am almost tempted to buy another to have a spare for the day when this has met it's shelf life. At half the price of the one I was contemplating, it's a real bargain and I don't think you'll be disappointed by the ease of ironing you'll find with this iron.

## Features

- Variable Temperature and Steam Controls - Independent steam and temperature controls give you the ability to customize each setting separately for the best results across all fabric types

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the advantage of digital??**
A: It is faster and more true to desired temp for appropriate fabric(s). The 'auto off' isn't necessary for me as I am old and was brought up to shut things off when I have finished!

**Q: I don't see the wattage anywhere in this description. Anyone know the wattage of this iron? Thanks!**
A: I was going to give the same answer as Jeanette Peterson. Love my iron! I've had it for about 5 years and use it daily for quilting. I am also a seamstress doing wedding gowns etc. It has never failed me.

**Q: Is it lightweight**
A: Not really lightweight but not too heavy. I think it is a really good iron for the price. I use it almost every day.

**Q: What is the weight of the iron**
A: With water in it it weighs 3lbs, its a little heaver than my last iron but if you ask me it works better with a little more weight to it....I have some carpel tunnel and it doesn't bother me at all...I really like this iron.....

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good, solid iron with no major issues
*by B***R on February 1, 2015*

This is a man's iron. Big, bulky, somewhat heavy in the hand. Frankly, out of the box it didn't strike me as the pinnacle of beauty with its gray, translucent plastic water reservoir. I got over that fairly quickly. It has been a great iron so far. Some background: I recently started a new job with a relatively strict dress code. Ironing has become a real, important part of my life (I'm still coming to terms with that). I figured having a good-quality iron would save time and take care of my clothes, which has proved to be the case. My biggest concern before making this purchase was whether the lid to the water reservoir would break off and render the iron useless at worst or inconvenient to use at best, as other reviewers have noted. I don't know if the design has changed on the lid, but I was glad to find that the reservoir system is well-designed: It takes a lot to get water out of the iron once you put it in. Basically, there's a big hole that you pour water into, and no water comes back out of that hole. There's another, smaller, hole above that lets water out, and even then, you have to tilt the iron at a steep angle (almost upside down) before the water starts flowing. I haven't tested it extensively, but it appears you can use the iron normally (horizontally) without ever worrying about water coming back out, even with the reservoir lid open. So, I'm no longer concerned about the reservoir lid. Even if it does break off, you almost don't need it. And if you do happen to have a problem with water leaking out of the small hole, it would be trivial to plug it while using the iron. It's a small hole. With that concern out of the way, I'm happy with the iron so far. The sole plate is smooth and shiny and glides easily. The iron puts out a volume of steam that would make Thomas Savery (inventor of the steam engine) proud. The weight of the iron, combined with good steam output, makes it easy and efficient to press out wrinkles and make nice creases. In fact, the last time I used it I had a heck of a time ironing my slacks, because I kept creasing them in all the wrong ways. You know what they say: with great power comes great responsibility. Thankfully, I've since gotten better at it, and the iron makes sharp creases where I want them. In terms of features, I don't have many complaints. There are two buttons near the thumb, one for spraying water (works well) and one for sending out a big puff of steam (also works well). I don't even know what I would use the steam puffer for yet, but it's way more fun to use than it should be. The digital selector works well, and the iron heats up quickly. I haven't had any problems with the auto-off feature kicking in while I'm ironing, but I also don't let it sit still for long (I'd rather not spend my whole day ironing). The iron comes with a handy pouring container, so you can fill the reservoir without spilling. The cord length has been fine for me. There have been a couple small issues that haven't been showstoppers. I echo the sentiments of some other reviewers, who have said the steam output dial is poorly placed, under the handle and up near where the thumb is when holding the iron. Several times I've unwittingly dialed down the steam and then wondered why no more steam was coming out. It's not a big deal, though. I just crank it back up. Not a dealbreaker. Another thing: When I first turned the iron on, straight out of the box, a thin stream of smoke starting coming out of the top. It didn't exactly smell like burning, but it was a little concerning. I haven't had any issues since, so I'll chalk it up to some kind of residue left over from manufacturing burning off. Overall, it has been a good, solid iron. I've only had it for a couple weeks, so I can't speak to any long-term issues that might crop up. Fortunately, it comes with a 2-year limited warranty. One last thing: I found the same iron for the exact same price ($44.99) at Bed Bath and Beyond in my area. If you need some additional peace of mind, it would be easier to return it to a store if you didn't like it or had issues with it for some reason. I ended up buying it from Amazon, with no issues so far.
