AKDY Convertible Kitchen Wall Mount Range Hood in Stainless Steel w/Tempered Glass, Touch Control and Carbon Filters (30 in.)

Just spare a few words first: Amazon rocks, I don’t have to confess that I will be a customer forever, as long as Amazon continues its top notch service, they don’t have to ask you, you will beg them to be the loyal customers. Out of the 3rd party seller’s return timeframe, with the help of Amazon, I did return the Az668as75 range hood to AKDY. Thx, Amazon. You’re No. 1!Now here is why I returned the product, plus my limited review of the hood with a only a few hour of hands within 2 days of opening the unit.In browsing the prior reviews, there’re two elements most frequently mentioned: sound level and aesthetic appeal:On my first test run after installation, I noted both.1 this product has very elegant design; it is very decorative in the kitchen. I bought it because of its sleek, clean, modern appearance. By this alone, I would give the product 5 stars. Plus the price is extreme lower comparing to other brands, such as Nutone.2 it is very noisy in all 3 speeds (not just the high level), don’t argue that because it has 760 CFM. I understand that the 300 CFM or less is much quite. The noise it produced is not the usual high power motor whopping sound, it’s sort of dry, lean or crackling sound. I originally thought it may be caused by my installation, such as not very tight end connections. So I checked and sealed everywhere with 3M mask tapes, but it is still the same. Then I thought it could be caused by the included wrap-foil -thin aluminum flex pipe. So I removed the whole flexible pipe, the noise sound is more or less same, and it’s coming from the main unit itself. Then I put small thin sponge adhesive tapes between the wall and the unit trying to eliminate any potential vibrations (as a matter of fact, there is not much vibration at first place since the motor is not very powerful as I imagined)3 It does not have a strong suction force to circulate the air as you expected from a 760 CFM unit. If you put an A4 paper under the hood, near the front part, it will hold the paper, but may fall down if in the rear half. I spray a bit of perfume on a hair dryer and turn it to low blowing and placed on the oven below the range. And I ran outside to my wall outlet. I did smell a bit and felt bit warmth. So it does moving the air, but not strong, you can’t feel anything with your palm on low and medium speed level, but if I turned it to high ( F3). I did feel a weak blowing on my hand. (BTW, the distance between the wall outlet and the main unit is less than 3 feet in my case, likely the shortest distance in all the reviewers). Yes, 3 feet, no typo.So with above high noise and very low power inherited in this product, I decided to return it. At very first, I attempted to ask the seller for a motor swap, but it’s hard to reach them by phone.There are several minor things and thoughts I wish to share with viewers:1 the touch panel looks great, but tricky, (I only test run limited times) sometime some buttons are insensitive, even you touch firmly, it doesn’t work, randomly it will work. I thought it could be due to the fact I didn’t remove the protective plastic cover of the panel, or other reason I can’t tell.2 the two LED lights are surprisingly pleasing, (unlike other reviewers’ remarks), daylight bright. (With such low 5watts bulb, it’s really bright enough,) and the location are still in the rear , which I preferred and I disagree with other remarks, who wish to move them to front. Isn’t that true the darkest area under the hood is the rear corner, but in upfront behind you, you would have enough light from your kitchen ceiling light or windows.3 there are quality lags between the parts of this brand product. On one hand it represents the deluxe high end and trendy design, each part, the glass top, the fine edge of the stainless steel units are all perfect and well-made and welded. On the other hand, the assembling is really rough; I have to remove the 4 bolts, (which holds the glass top on the unit, because I was very careful and don’t like scratch any of them, either the glass or steel face/panel. So remove the heavy glass, make you easy to install.) And I found 2 of their rubber rings were crushed by the factory installers. Plus the LED connectors were lose, and my first run, they didn’t even light up.4 so if the product goes to the hi-end direction, they shall pay attention to the total manufacturing QC/QA process (simply clipper to fix the LED electrical cable along the inside rim), not just initial, or the design. If it goes the opposite, it would be better for them to lower the consumers’ expectation, price cheaper with lower CFM motor.5 It may worth more attention on the motor design, such as the blade/fin shape and material used to improve power and reduce sound. Plus adding a thin layer of sound deafening insulation will not only reduce the noise, but also contain the heat generated by the motor and exile them out rather than dissipate to the metal hood covers (of course you may argue that in winter they want warmth in, not out, so designers of this hood, please make it a condensing type hood, super deluxe, cool in summer and hot in winter, j.k.!)My views are very limited and based only on my initial several test runs, I didn’t use this hood in real day life and make the more long run observations. I love this hood and I hate this hood as well.Potential buyers of any AKDY products shall make their own judgments, esp. pay detail attentions to the series models. They have so many models for different markets. (Could be USA, UK or other EU?). It’s unique, elegantly designed and well made (mostly), it makes you kitchen glowing and attractive. You cannot buy this type of products elsewhere, esp with such low price. You don’t have other choices if you favor this type of range hoods.

Love the Hood but wasn't able to use it 😔

Great looking fan. I like the multiple exhaust (including none) options. For the money this is a steal. Everyone that comes to my house compliments.The display looks really nice with the touch activated buttons including 3 fan speeds, light on/off, Clock on/off, and power button.I love the glass section, modern look and really easy to clean. The led lights underneath are just the right amount of brightness.I would recommend this purchase if you can live with the following 3 ...hiccups if you will: these 3 reasons cost this item a star1. The clock is 24 hr format. I was positive that the other reviewers before i purchased mine were just not able to figure it out. I was wrong. ;)I spoke to AKDY and they informed me that this was "European style" and therefor only had the 24 hr time format. I very well could be wrong but i thought everyone pretty much used 12 hr time format except military. And irregardless, this is something that should have been clearly stated on the page.2. It is on the Louder side. Hi setting sounds like standing on a boeing runway. But it Does move massive amounts of air also. med is tolerable and equivalent to hi on the hood it replaced. lo's sound level is what would be expected and probably enough for everyday cooking.Outside of those. This is a great looking range at half the price of comparable units found at your local big box store.

Actually this is my first time buying items from amazon, it is a very good experience! This seller has the super fast shipping process. I receive the hood in only two days.the hood has very good protection out side to avoid physical damages, when I take it out, it is really a beautiful hood. $200 to buy a range hood, I have not think to much, just trying to get a hood that is okay to use, but this hood just too good, way better than my expect. Nice stainless steel and clear glass, there is a little curve on the front of the chimney makes the hood a good looking. My contractor told me this hood use very good filter, it's all made with stainless steel, very easy to clean, he told me those filter was using on commercial use, it is much easier to clean than the regular aluminum filter. This hood is also very powerful, my old hood that purchased from home deport is only 400 CFM which is really too weak for a heavy cooker. This new hood can reach up to 860CFM which is double the power of my old one. Finally can keep all the cooking smokes away. Vey installation, I think I can install it with our my contractor's help, you can do it by yourself if you want to save some money! Well will highly suggest ppl to buy this hood, I am also remodeling my bathroom, will definitely come back to buy shower panel and tub from you guy! Good products!

I can't complain for the price this hood seems pretty well made and it's fairly easy to install. For the price it's a very sharp modern looking range hood that's fairly easy to clean. The controls to set the time are a bit confusing but other than that it's pretty straightforward. The instructions are terrible but it's fairly obvious how it goes together. We haven't had any trouble with it, the LED lights are reasonably bright, it functions as advertised. It is loud though. Some other reviewers compared it to a freight train but I wouldn't go that far. It's loud on the highest setting but it's not so bad that I'd return it or anything. Overall we're happy.

Received the item. It had a defective circuit board but the seller sent a replacement right away - swapped it out and works fine.Build quality is ok but not the finest.You get what you pay for. That said its ok for what it is.Install was a bit tricky. But once you figure it out it's not very complicated - just take your time.

The fan is very loud, even on the lowest setting. The clock doesn't keep time correctly. But overall, it does it's job.
