3D Granny Squares: 100 crochet patterns for pop-up granny squares

The book contains several projects, seasonal, cute, practical ideas. The patterns are in both forms (written and designed, with symbols). Acronyms and symbols are explained and at the end of the book there's a chapter with stitches explained. I love the book but I'd not recommend it to an absolute beginner. Most suited for intermediate level.

A really good crochet book - every design is unique and interesting! I made all 100 squares. I loved how it is split into themes - animals, food, flowers, seasonal, sea, and special stitches. If you slip stitch two squares together, you can create blankets, perfect for baby showers, or wall hangings! Make sure to single crochet a border, about 2-3 layers deep. Put 3 single crochet into each corner as a turning stitch. Very clear instructions, and good photos of each finished product. I’ve knocked off a star, just because some of the instructions had small mistakes, meaning the square wouldn’t be symmetrical, or there were a couple of stitches left over. Still, I was able to correct those. All in all, an excellent book, providing many hours of crochet fun. Great value for money.

Lovely book

This is a brilliant book, with lots of lovely squares to make. Don't be put off by some of the negative reviews regarding print size. I didn't have any problems reading the patterns, and I have to wear glasses. Each square fits onto one page, which is great when crocheting as you don't need to keep turning the pages over. There seem to be lots of complaints about the book being written in US terms, but that shouldn't put you off either. It's very easy to convert to UK terms in your head as you work if you need too. It really is an essential skill to master as so many patterns are written in US terms. Other people have commented that not all the squares come out the same size. That's true if you follow the patterns exactly as written, but I very easily made some slight alterations (using a different size hook or different stitch) and was able to produce squares which were all the same size. I was able to join them very easily to make a baby blanket as shown in the photos. This book probably isn't ideal if you've only just started to crochet, but if you are reasonably experienced then you can produce some beautiful items from it.
