Definitely a must have for snowy climbs
I held off buying these for a long time because I never thought I needed them for the few snowy hikes I do early season here in the PNW. I ended up getting them for a super steep hike that I knew I would have trouble stabilizing on the way down and my knees had been having issues. If you are on the fence, BUY THEM. They are worth having even if you do one epic climb/hike and end up using them. It was SO much easier to make it up, but really saved my knees and legs going down from potential injury because they worked so well. The only time I would say none of this type of gear works is low elevations where the temp is well above freezing and you're starting to get melt out, then really, nothing works and you might slide a little but even these held up for a good amount of slush at some points. Easy system to get on and off for varied terrain! Compact and light to fit in a jacket pocket. Great traction. WAAAy better than something like Yaktrax.

Finally! Confidence on the ice
I walk two or three times a day which, in New England means dealing with changing snow conditions that can easily become ice and stay that way. My first pair of cleats were more like an old man's galoshes, easy to put on but on a crunchy trail, easy to come off, not fun when a downhill step can cause a hard tumble on ice crusted snow. I use them in town because of the easy off feature. The next pair had bottoms more like caltrop beads on stranded wire, ok for ice but easily clogged in a skiff of snow and the wire barely lasts me a winter. They stay on until the wire breaks but are so hard to get on that they squeeze my boots. I've worn out my second pair in two years. But now I have tap-dancing confidence up hill and down, on our glassy driveway and through the crusty snow. These won't come off unbeknownst, the spikes gouge nicely into the ice so I can walk or run with confidence and even go off trail, up hill, to track down the recalcitrant, overzealous guard dog. The cleats go on easily enough but sit on my boot in a way that will not come off accidentally.I bought small and there is plenty of room for my size 6 Sorels. I can, with effort stretch them on to my bigger Sorel Glaciers but I think a medium would be better for those. These so far seem great but I've only just got them. TIme will tell if these have any longevity. Still, they have an awesome, aggressive grip that will make my hikes in the hills, even at night with my headlamp, trouble-free.

Too hard to get on
I purchased these to replace a pair of Kahtoolas that had seen better days. The design on the new ones are different, the rubber material wrapping around much more of the foot of my hiking boot. I'm not a fan of this new design as the rubber is super tight and very hard to stretch onto the boot for a proper fit. It was an unnecessary struggle on an otherwise beautiful winter hike.

These are great!
I wear a size 8 boot and shoe and got these to wear over my hiking boots for hikes through woods and dog trails this winter. I bought a Small size, which is right on the line of the sizing chart for size 8 shoes...and they are a little snug to put on. My husband bought a size Medium for his size 9 1/2 hiking boots and they fit him well. I tried his on and that size would have been too big for me, so the Small was the right choice. You want to have them so there's no rattle of the chains, and if they're too big that would happen. I always worry about size charts and how one makes the decision to choose a size, that's why I'm going on about it. I love these crampons. I feel secure walking on sheets of ice out on the trails, on hard packed snow, slick cold patches of snow and small amounts of layered snow. You wouldn't want to wear them in high snow, because they would have no effect. The red looks really nice, btw!

A MUST for Winter
These microspikes are a MUST-HAVE for icy, snowy winters. It is like night and day walking on ice with and without these. I enjoy walking even during the cold and very precipitous winters, and these make it possible for me to stay on my feet! The spikes provide excellent traction and they are comfortable to walk with. They are relatively easy to slip over boots and they stay put until you take them off! I love these and recommend them to everyone!

Great Product! True to size!
I order these in a small to fit my woman's size 6.5 hiking boots. They fit perfectly! I used these for the first time while hiking down Mount Eisenhower in NH. The path was iced over and very slippery without microspikes. I'm pretty confident if I didn't have these i would have hurt myself sliding down a very steep and slippery mountain.

Like magic for walking on ice
These are like magic for walking on ice and slippery snow. Previous attempts at devices like this were not successful. These work. Easy to add or remove from boots, but we just leave them attached all winter, and most importantly they do not fall off in the middle of the woods. The only thing more stable on an icy trail is a pair of snowshoes. Minimal clumping when walking in plain snow.

If you climb mountains in the winter / spring thaw ...
If you climb mountains in the winter / spring thaw you need these. I bought these for my wife because I have them and she was using a cheaper pair that she slipped and skidded with. Defiantly worth the extra money. I have had mine for 4 years and they are showing no wear yet and still grip the ice expertly.
