After damaging the blade by accidentally cutting through staples, I took it to a local sharpener. Trying to sharpen the original blade, it became obvious that, because of the design of this type of cutter, the newly ground blade wouldn't drop far enough down to cut through the last sheets of paper. Much effort had produced a poor result. I bought the blade kit, installed the new blade in about 20 minutes, including actually doing it twice because I didn't do it right the 1st time. The cutter is like new. If you have a QCM 1200E that no longer cuts, this is the only way to go. Sharpen the old blade? Forget about it! This one is the real thing and went right into the cutter.
