An Illustrated Treasury of Grimm's Fairy Tales: Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Hansel and Gretel and many more classic stories (Daniela Drescher Anthologies) Review: Illustrations are great - Book is great the illustrations are great love the details Review: Beautifully illustrated & true to the original fairy tales - We are very pleased with our copy of Grimm's Fairy Tales. The illustrations by Daniela Drescher are gorgeous & evocative. Each fairy tale has one full-color illustration accompanying the text. Some of the longer tales also have simple black & white drawings to go with it as well. The paper is exceptional & the book feels wonderful in the hands. All the stories are carefully selected & all are appropriate for as young as the Kindergarten age child & some even for younger children, depending on the sensitivity of the child. We've found some gems in there that I had never heard of before, but have completely charmed all of us: One-eye, Two-eyes & Three-eyes; The Goose Girl at the Well, among others. I like that there isn't a picture on every page. My children lean back and listen to me read the story with all their ears & make the pictures with their imaginations. The fairy tales come alive more for them this way. I also think that because the book is more text than pictures that my children will enjoy it for many more years to come, as they step away from picture books & step into the world of reading. It won't be put aside by them for being "too young" but can be something they might come back to later, again & again.

Could use more pictures
Nice book, pictures are beautiful but when reading on FaceTime to small grandchildren I would appreciate a few more of them. Only one per story! She loves scary fairy tales and romantic tales.

Beautiful book
This is a solid book with beautiful illustrations. I wanted a quality fairy tale book for my 6 year old granddaughter, and this fills the bill.

Lovely illustrations and nice stories
I contemplated purchasing this collection for quite a while. I hoped that this book would be worth adding to our collection, despite us knowing most of the stories, and we were not disappointed. Overall, the fairy tales are well-written, and fun to read, even if you are already familiar with the stories. They keep the attention of both of my children (currently nine and five years old). I would recommend this to someone looking for a beautifully illustrated collection of fairy tales.

Great for older kids
Amazing stories and graphics but some stories a bit too vulgar for younger kids.

Ordered for my daughter's child. My daughter says that the binding, printing and pictures of the book are good

Traditional collection of tales, with old favourites and some less well known stories. Stories read well - fluent lively language and a beautifully produced book. Daniela Drescher's colourful illustrations, as always, are hauntingly expressive and lovely, with closely observed natural details accompanying the action - her birds! her flowers! the forest! - and there are many black and white silhouette images scattered throughout.
