Humidifier Crystal Gel HX10 Rectangle Humidifier

I've bought two of the Humicare humidor humidifiers. I do not use distilled water in the humidifiers, because they release too much moisture into the humidor. This will cause the cigars to mold. I use the "Life Style Basics Cigar Humidor Solution". This is an excellent solution to use with the Humicare beads. This combination keeps the humidor at about 70 to 72 percent humidity. When I first received the Humicare humidifier, I could easily shake the beads. I poured about 3 OZs of the Humidor Solution and let sit for 30 minutes to an hour. After the beads have soaked up the solution, then when shaking the Humicare, you can tell the beads are much larger and tighter in the humicare humidifier. This will last a couple of months before needing an infusion of humidor solution. Thus far with this combination, the Humicare Humidifier is an awesome product and well worth the money spent to keep and protect my cigar investment and enjoyment.

The only problem I have had is soaking the crystals too long and expands the crystals too big and the case breaks open. The crystals spill out! If that happens just let it dry out and snap the case back together

Would have given this 5 starts, but you'll want (read: need to) to put a drop of superglue on each end and on each side (just a drop) so that once the gel beads expand with water they won't put pressure on the two pieces of the case and pop apart. After the drops of glue you'll want to put a weight (3 lb. dumbbell) on 'em to hold the pieces together. So far, so good with the 'sticky magnet' as I've been checking it daily in my humidor.

Humi-care products have always been reliable and priced right. I've owned many of their products and am always satisfied.

I've used others and this is the best by far. Perfect humidity control and no worries. Protect your investment!

I've used Humi-Care products in all my humidors. Upon moving to a larger humidor, I opted to stay with that brand. I bought the larger unit (here) and started the process of soaking it. Let's just say this thing absorbs a lot of water. So much that it exploded and the beads were all over the inside of the humidor. This is not a defect, this is a measure of quality. I must have soaked it too long. I believe this unit will work great for my humidor. I just have to get used to its needs and how much water it can handle. It's a good product as are all Humi-care products.

If this is just a source of humidity, OK, but if it's supposed to help maintain consistency, it fails. My relative humidity is up and down and rarely stable, even while I seldom open the humidor door.

KEEPS 50-60 CIGARS AT CORRECT HUMIDITY FOR WEEKS BEFORE RE-SATURATING.

Placed in my humidor and it holds my moisture around 65%, may have put to much water in as the balls expanded and broke free of the unit but that may be on me.

Works great, but I’d recommend removing 1/4 of the beads. Otherwise it can over fill and actually split the container. Not a big deal and the container just snaps back together.
