Swagman Fat Basket

The baskets are good and well constructed. It did take me about 40 minutes to install them and having access to my entire toolkit was helpful as I had to bend-out the mounting flanges to get them over the rack and the basket and then had to squeeze the flanges back into alignment to get them bolted-on. I used a bunch of hand tools, allen keys, 1/4 driver, etc to mount them. The zip ties are good quality, very thick. The baskets are big enough to hold two standard shopping bags (paper kind). My insulated shopping bags fit right in them. Good purchase!

This basket works fine for a middle schooler commuting back and forth from school. It was fairly easy to install on a bike rack, but hasn’t held up super well after a year. The metal links/hinges that hold it all together are made from a weak steel that deforms easily and lets the basket fall apart. It’s only been used for a year and already shows signs that it may not last another full school year under daily use. Definitely consider getting another product with beefier hinges if you’d like this to last for the longer term. In contrast, I had similar folding baskets (from another brand) that lasted me many years without failures like this

I bought 2 baskets for my E-Bike. The baskets are awesome! The metal brackets are universal as they can’t expect to match every application. I bent them to work. I could have used the supplied zip-ties and that would have worked. The metal latch to keep them closed is wonky, but I got them to work. I read a review by a “mech engineer “ that couldn’t figure them out. They weren’t that hard. You need to be patient with opening and closing, but I love them. I carry a soft cooler w/12 beers on 1 side and beach towels/misc in the other. I also bungee 2 beach chairs on top. It transformed my bike into a hauling machine!

Great value for the money, they work well, but the installation hardware doesn't fit all use cases. I've have a similar basket which I've used for a long time but don't use that frequently. This basket seems very similar but maybe a little sturdier. So I'm basing part of my review on the positive experience I've had with similar baskets. I haven't had this one for very long so I can't comment on the durability of this particular version but they seem to operate identically. The baskets don't rattle at all when they're open or closed. The main problem I had was the attachment hardware is kind of crap and didn't fit my slightly large pannier frames. I bought some hose clamps which were easy to install but about a quarter of the cost of the baskets! Their suggested method of using nylon ties doesn't seem very good although the ones they provide are thicker than most.

They worked great for me. Others complained about the clasps. It is folding wire panels...they must be manually aligned and held by hand while locking the clasp. Found it to be simple, easy, and nothing to complain about. Such criticisms is kind of like complaining how difficult it is to zip a cloth duffel bag. Holding it and zipping it is just part of the deal. Love them. Recommend. Why I bought them is pannier bags or saddle bags must be removed when the bike is mounted to my car's bicycle rack. Because solid bags hide the tail lights of the car. These are permanently mounted to the bike. They are see thru for my car's tail lights, and fold out of the way when nit used. The rubberized coating is nice. However, I presume it is bare untreated metal underneath. So I expect trying to treat and paint rust will be more of a challenge. Compared to if they were powder coated metal like most others.

You have to be careful of the way the bottom hinges or it blocks the top from latching when you fold these up. You also have to pull/bend the outer wall out when unfolding or the bottom will catch halfway up. I'll probably return these for another set of wald panniers that just seem to fold better even if they are more expensive.

Perfectly sized for a grocery bag and folds up when not in use.

Pros; folds away, slim silhouette when folded for excellent agility. Fits exactly 1x 18L insulated shopping bag (generic ones from woolies or Aldi) Cons; used my own zip ties to tie it to my rack, needed to use extra loops as pull loops otherwise it's super tricky to unfold. unclear instructions, fiddly install Still bought another one because it remains built for purpose

Es buena, me gusta mucho la posibilidad de doblarla cuando no la uso. El único problema que tuve es que los aros que envían para colocarla no fueron lo suficientemente grandes para mi portabultos.

My partner loves using the E-Bike to run errands. This is just one of the Swagman products that were recommended to us, and have been incredibly useful. Installation: 4-5 heavy duty zip ties, and done. Use: the folding nature of these panniers is super user friendly. Are they pricey, yep, but quality can cost, and based on all those that personally recommended them, they have earned their reputation for quality.

dachte bei der Bestellung, dass von der Beschreibung her es ein Korb sei, den man von oben herab zusammen klappen kann. Bei Lieferung stellte sich heraus , dass er seitlich angebracht wird und dann zusammengeklappt wird . Daher war ich enttäuscht und nutze das Teil ohne zusammen zu klappen vorn am Fahrrad. Produkt selber ok.

You do need to change the position of the clip to fold it closed. But it's easy to do with needlenose pliers. Just use zapstrap or metal pipe clamp to secure it to the bike rack. Can hold heavy stuff such as 4L jug of milk and/or beer. Happy to support Canadian company.
