Al-Ajniha al-Mutakassira (The Broken Wings) is a poetic novel written by Khalil Gibran first published in Arabic in 1912. It is a tale of tragic love, set in turn-of-the-century Beirut.A young woman, Selma Karamy, is betrothed to a prominent religious man's nephew. The protagonist (a young man that Gibran perhaps modeled after himself) falls in love with this woman. They begin to meet in secret, however they are discovered, and Selma is forbidden to leave her house, breaking their hopes and hearts. The book highlights many of the social issues of the time in the Eastern Mediterranean, including religious corruption, the rights of women (and lack thereof), and the weighing up of wealth and happiness. It's the usual descriptive and reflective Gibran style. He is more interested in stopping at every detail and reflecting deeply on youth, love, and life than in entertaining the reader with fast moving events and suspense. The kind of book you can just relax to and reflect with the author. So, if you enjoy deep reflection, it's quite soothing.

Arabic book but it opens from the left like English books
Because arabic writing starts from the right then the book should opens from the right not the left!!! I dont like it it opens from from left like English books but writing inside is arabic

Printed wrong way
The pages were printed wrong way . Arabic language start from right to left but the book was started from left to right

The printing is poor and it is printed from left to write so the beginning of the book is like a beginning of a book written in English.

this is an Arabic book, but it is assembled as if it is an English book. The page turning should be from left to right, but in this book it is right to left as if it is an English book!
