have owned dickies in the past, but for some reason I always owned the larger, baggier versions, and so I stopped owning them as I grew out of that look. I currently work in a restaurant where I am required to wear black pants, and I used to wear cheap walmart slacks everyday, but these have become my new favorite. They have a good straight leg shape that also gives an indirect recognition that you do indeed have a butt, but without over announcing it like a pair of tight jeans would. The waist felt slightly snug the first time I wore them, but since then they have felt very comfortable. Depending on the pants, I wear either a 32 or 33 waist, but as 32s, these have a nice slim fit to them that won't allow them to sag, which is perfect for running back and forth at work. I'm 5'11" and 175 lbs, and the fit feels great on my legs as well. The material is very sturdy, as anybody who has worn dickies before would know, and therefore can withstand a good amount of abuse. I've used Dickies for 35 years and they always deliver a quality product. Recently, I have purchased RedKap and they are great but I decided try Dickies again and as good as RedKap are Dickies are better. I purchased one size larger after reading on line comments but it was unnecessary. One note, some pants save cost by eliminating belt loops; not RedKap and certainly not Dickies. These pants had enough belt loops for 2 pares of pants.

I've had 5 pairs of these pants for over 2 years. I wear one pair each day of the work week. I'm a Pest Control Technician and often find my self climbing on rooftops and sitting on them while doing exclusion work. Before I wore Dickies, I'd wear normal dress pants which lasted a good one visit on top of a room before holes were forming. The Dickies are tough, I've been on my knees and behind on roof tops and never had a hole. I go under houses and have to crawl around in rocks and dirt but have yet to find a hole. After two years of wearing these and washing repeatedly, they are finally starting to fade a little and start to get the fuzzies or "Pilling" on the fabric. I also love the range of waist and length sizes. If you're short and fat, you can get pants without hemming, if you're tall and skinny, they've got sizes for that frame also. Its great. If you do any sort of labor and need quality work pants, don't hesitate to order these. My only complaint is the fit, they always run a little small. I have to buy one size up just to ensure they fit. It's not flattering when you're picking your size but keep that in mind. Update: Its May 2017 and I still have these same pairs of pants I originally ordered. They each get worn/washed about once a week, a pair for each work day. I have a couple of pairs that are finally getting thin in the crotch from rubbing but no holes or tears anywhere.

The fabric pilled within 1 month with 2 washings inside out cold water. After 6 months of wearing two pairs of Dickies, the one bought in Nov 2025 pilled and the one from Oct 2025 did not. I wear a size 30 in ANY other brand (and I don't buy any of the elastic/stretch bs). I tried on the Dickies before washing them and they were very tight and barely fit. I thought maybe they needed to be broken in a bit because there's no way they would intentionally make a waist of 28 on a size 30 pants. I had to check the tag to make sure I was sent 30x30. Pants did not break in after a week of wear, I had purchased two and washed the second pair to see how much it would shrink. It didn't shrink much which is great! The issue are these pants at least the 874 line are much too tight at the waist and when measuring the actual waistband they are not sized correctly and are actually a size down. Buyer beware! You may need to purchase a size up in order to actually fit in the pants. The pants are of great quality otherwise besides the fit at the waist being inaccurate.
