Anyone know why these are illegal in California?

California has implemented their own requirements for light bulbs that is not only limited to efficiency, but also dimming, color quality, and several others. It is not related to recycle fees or health warnings. These added requirements drive the cost up on the light bulbs. So, many manufacturers sell a "California" version, sometimes called Title 20, Title 24, or CEC compliant. The remaining 49 states get the more affordable version. It is also not illegal to possess these lamps in California, they just cannot be sold there.

Can you use these in a completely enclosed glass ceiling fixture?

One answer says yes one answer says no I just received my order and nothing on the packaging says they are suitable for enclosed fixtures. Guess I'll be contacting Amazon.

What is the warranty on these bulbs?

They are fully guaranteed until you put them in a fixture.

Lightbulbs are becoming more efficient, but as I often wonder, the USA went from rockets blowing up on the pad to men actually walking on the Moon in nine years, yet we are told clean energy is just too difficult. Windmills are carcinogenic, "REE-OO REE-OO REE-OO". Oh, boy...got to take my pills, now...
