I liked the Characters in the story so much I was sorry when it ended ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Underbelly of the Star Wars Universe *by T***5 on Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2011* This novel features the well-known bounty hunter characters of Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back in an adventure that occurs alongside the events of the original trilogy. The author focuses on a plot hatched by Prince Xizor (of Shadows of the Empire) to undermine the Bounty Hunters' Guild in order gain leverage over Palpatine and Lord Vader.For those curious about the further adventures of the bounty hunter characters, this book will be a real treat. Jeter is a fine writer who takes great care to develop each of the bounty hunter characters -- Zuckuss, 4-LOM, Dengar, Bossk, and others -- are all interesting and play important roles in the story. Jeter also introduces some of his own characters into the mix, and they are at home in the dark, shadowy universe of the Star Wars bounty hunters.I suggest beginning with the first book in the series before this one if you can. There are many things introduced in the first novel that are important to a thorough understanding of this novel.Jeter's prose is terrific. He is one of my favorite of the authors that I've been introduced to through reading the Star Wars expanded universe novels. This book continues the almost perfect depiction of Boba Fett as an iceberg-cold individual. Ordinarily, the writing would be over-the-top, but Mr. Jeter keeps it realistic.Characters are introduced with care, and not just throwaway units. Each is given a meticulous outline, parsed for value, and utilized in the capacity for which they were designed.
