That is totally up to the user if they wish to remove the Velcro.

Can this be used on a garage door that is 9ft wide and 8ft tall?

Can the garage door opener still work?

Yes the opener will work. Magic mesh mounted on outside frame of door. Sometimes the magnets get caught on garage door(if metal) when opening.I wont be purchasing another garage door magic mesh.I dont believe that the one I installed 1 month ago will make it to September.

Can a car go through it or only people sized?

Only people. A car might snag and rip it down.
