Nice kit for the price.
There were a lot of reviews that complained you had to paint the kit. Well, that's the whole idea, make it the way you want. I don't have a train layout, just wanted to try my hand at building and then weathering a kit like this. When I was younger we used to build a lot of model cars kits so I had a good idea what I was buying. I have to say I'm impressed with the quality for the price. I finished my kit with acrylic paints, don't forget the glue. I used testors model glue.

LIFE-LIKE TRAINS Western Homestead Honest review from someone who painted and built it. Could have given a 5 star review except for the misleading sales pitch. Even on the box it says: "Small amount of painting may be required" "Plastic model cement needed - not included" EVERYTHING needs to be painted, and EVERYTHING needs glue. I built car models as a kid...1:12 scale. HO is 5+ TIMES smaller. Tiny. 1:87 So... $18.97 for the kit. $60+ for material and supplies. I'm very pleased. Once I got used to the tinyness, (cheaters and strong light recommended), all was good. Tiny parts were very precise, with little/no cleanup or flashing. LL Trains has a great product for a model. I will buy others now that I have all the supplies and paint. Nicely detailed. SMALL. Worth the effort.

Easy and Lifelike
Excellent product for easy results! I bought this for my 12 year old son to add to his HO scale train set. He had it together in a matter of hours. Easy directions, and looks great even without paint! Perfect for young builders.

Great for train enthusiasts!
I bought this for y dad, as a Christmas gift, and he loved it! It fit well with his vintage HO train set, in his train room. Very happy I found this and its on he didn't already own. Great price too!

Tiny pieces to assemble
I like the finished product, but you have to be a fine watch repairman to handle the tiny pieces. Plus, only special modeling glue will work. Definitely not standard “super” glue.
