I've been wanting one of these lamps for a long time. I promised myself as soon as the price got within my range, it would be mine. So many people had good things to say about the WBM brand as well, I kept looking at those lamp options. I am SO glad that I bought it. It arrived today. The box had a tear in the lid. The lamp had a chunk broken off of it as well. (A fairly substantial piece, yet I did not feel it mattered enough to return the lamp. See photos.) The lamp is MUCH heavier than I had expected, so that was a surprise. You would definitely not want to place this where it could be knocked off or tipped over easily, or over a glass shelf. In our case, we have curious cats, so its final place will need to be where the cats cannot rub on it and tip it over or knock it off onto something else. The base is very sturdy and looks nice. Mine is a medium brown tone and would fit in about any décor. I love the natural look of the lamp. (I have photos of the lamp both on and off - please check the additional photos in the item description.) I really look forward to seeing how it looks at night in a dark room. Some of the things in the tiny print in the usage manual include not using it outside, and to always use a placemat or coaster due to the salt "sweating" and possibly damaging furniture. Right now, mine is on a surface that won't matter, but it is worth mentioning, in case you might have plans to place it on a good end table or bookcase. In my case, this is going to be in my bedroom, and I already have an orange bedspread, so it fits right in. However, I would love this no matter what colors I had in my room. The height and size varies naturally, so no two lamps will be alike. Mine is approximately 8.25" tall (including the base), and fits well into the bedroom. It seems to be about 4.5" wide. I love all the natural crags and crevaces of the lamp. The backside of mine is flat, but that's okay too. I am using the original night light (which is replaceable either to change colors or replace a burned out light), and the lamp gives off a very pleasant orange/peach glow. I like just looking at it too, and will probably stare at it a little more in the dark! Ha! As far as freshening the air with the negative ions - it is too soon to tell, so I'll update my review once I feel we've had time to feel a difference. Our bedroom is not huge (maybe 10x11), so 2-3 weeks should be enough time to feel any breathing differences. Both my daughter and I have asthma and allergies. The cats are in and out of here all day long as well, so anything it can do to help is going to be great. I've read both good and bad about the negative ion thing and asthma, so I have placed it away from where my head will actually be in bed. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase, and will probably be buying more as the money allows. The look alone is enough to please me, and I do hope the salt lives up to the claims on the air freshening. UPDATE AUG 2011: We now have THREE of these lamps. Yes, they seem to do that much good for the air quality. We have a very small place, and despite changing the filters monthly, is the most dusty place in which I've ever lived. Since using these lamps, I no longer experience that burning in my sinuses that I had before. Each lamp received has been very different, with the last one being the lightest in color. However, as long as they are all a chunk of the salt, and they do their job, I can live with that. I want to get a smaller one for our bathroom as well. NOTE: When replacing the bulbs, they use a bulb just like a Christmas tree light. HOWEVER - most holiday lights are only 4 watts. You will NOT get the air purifying effect with that - it will be a decorative light only. The salt has to get warm to help filter the air, and that only happens with a 15-watt bulb. They are available in 2-packs at WalMart, and I am sure many other places. Just check on your wattage if your lamp does not seem to be doing much.

It's a beautiful lamp that is very pleasing to look at, and its heavy. I like the dimmer switch which allows you to make it as bright or dimmer, this is a great added bonus. Its important that air can circulate under the lamp, and it should be placed where it can't fall over because it will break. If you have children, or pets place it where they can't knock it over because it could cause injury or death due to the weight of it if it falls on your child or pet. Accidental injury can also be caused if a pet or child can get to the cord. I came across this item while I was looking at other items on Amazon, and I did a lot of reading on salt lamps that are suppose to be beneficial for a variety of health issues. I read ALL of the instructions which I recommend everyone do, and its suggested that you clean the lamp, and keep it wrapped while not in use. Its very easy to clean, and NEVER should be immerged in water. This is a dust collector, and does get dirty. I clean it by holding it sideways under water to rinse it off, and I use a soft cloth. The directions enclosed with the lamp said that in order for the lamp to work it has to become heated. The price of these lamps jump significantly as you increase the size, and there are several styles to choose from, and enclosed with the lamp was a brochure and several pictures of various lamps. The weight, and size of the lamp is printed on the bottom of the box which is very easy to read, and the lamp was carefully packed, and wrapped. I'm planning on keeping the box which has a huge picture of the item on the outside of the box. The instructions also clearly explain how many lamps you need for the size of the room that you have. I plan on buying several more of these lamps which can be used for meditation. I read some of the reviews by other buyers, and this is a pretty bright lamp, its not meant to be used like an ordinary lamp, nor is it dim as one person wrote. There are smaller lamps than this one but the cost to buy the little ones didn't make sense to me. No two lamps are alike, so its like owning a little piece of artwork. I love unusual, and unique items, and this is certainty one of them. I will update this review when sufficient time has passed to let others know how effective this is as far as cleaning the air. Even if it doesn't do as stated. I'm very pleased with my purchase, I'm going to use it in the bedroom, and turn it on every night before I go to sleep to see if helps my sleep. I haven't decided where I'm going to place it yet but I plan on putting it where I can easily adjust the dimmer, and see it especially at nighttime.

Brightness & Color The light output is soft and relaxing rather than overly bright, making it ideal as ambient lighting. The natural salt crystal produces a beautiful warm amber glow that looks exactly as I hoped. Assembly & Stability There is virtually no assembly required. One thing to note is that the salt pillar simply rests on the wooden base and is not physically secured to it. Initially I expected it to lock into place, but the crystal is heavy enough that it remains reasonably stable during normal use. I would still recommend handling it carefully when moving the lamp. Reliability Unfortunately, my particular unit arrived with an issue affecting the touch switch/dimmer control. Because of this, I wasn't able to fully evaluate long-term performance. However, a replacement is already on its way, and the exchange process has been straightforward. Overall Aside from the defective switch on my unit, the lamp itself is attractive, provides a lovely warm glow, and feels like a quality decorative piece. I'm optimistic that the replacement will deliver the experience the product is designed to provide. For now, I'm giving it 4 stars based on its appearance, lighting quality, and overall design. I returned the faulty one and received a replacement the next day

I just got this today. I bought it for my mother for Mother's Day but of course I had to plug it up and see how it looked before I give it to her on Sunday. It is beautiful!!!!!! It is a lot bigger and heavier than I thought it would be. I am thrilled and I know she will be too. I will be ordering another one... for myself of course =) Update: My mother loves this lamp. She has COPD and after 2 days and nights of using the lamp she said "I am feeling really good today. For some reason I am breathing really well today and I feel better than I have felt in a long time. I am not sure why." I told her to look over at her lamp and she said "Ooohhh". She has been feeling better ever since she started using this lamp - no joke. I am going to order one for myself. This company has the best price of anyone on Amazon or on the Internet and free shipping, which we know we all love that free shipping. I absolutely cannot recommend this lamp enough. I think everyone should have one. I think I will put one in every room of my house. Update #2: I ordered one for myself and I absolutely love it. This one is just a beautiful as the first one. The base was dinged in a few places and was not as nice as the first one but I just sanded it and stained the base and used a little hand rubbed polyurethane on it and now it is just gorgeous. I think I like mine better because it is darker salt than the first one. A nice plus is both lamps have a dimmer switch so you can turn the light all the way up or just barely on. Highly recommend this salt lamp.

I'm very pleased with the quality of this lamp and will purchase more, for other areas of my home. It arrived on time, packaged appropriately and securely, and in prefect condition. The weight indicated on the box is 7-11 pounds (because they are all different), and mine weighs about 9 lbs and is 9" tall and (approx) 5" wide, feels heavy and sturdy, and looks symmetrical, although somewhat flat on the back, which is perfectly fine because if I want to turn it around, it actually has 2 different looks. I've had it lit for about a month and there is no "sweating" or moisture on it. That may change when our weather becomes humid. If necessary, I'll put a coaster under it, as recommended. The information pamphlet packaged with it says this size is suitable for an office or cubicle. I use it in my bedroom, which is larger than a "cubicle", so my next purchase will be a larger lamp, and I'll use this one in a smaller room. The instructions for replacing the bulb, should I ever have to, are clear and it's a simple process. The bulbs can be purchased separately here on Amazon. Each lamp is a bit different. Mine is a beautiful amber/peach color; looks very much like the one pictured, and produces a warm glow, rather than bright light. It can be dimmed very low for use as a night light. I leave mine fully lit 24/7 to ensure that I get all of the health benefits it offers. (I'm not sure if that's necessary, since I can't actually SEE the negative ions that it emits, to know if it's working right or not. :-) ) But the light is pleasing and doesn't bother me, so I do it anyway. :-) Since I purchased this lamp specifically for the health benefits, (and was pleasantly surprised by it's beauty and quality!) I should mention that I have indeed noticed that I am much less stuffy when I wake up in the morning. The base is exactly the same as pictured and is very nice hardwood, sanded smooth and clear coated. The cord is extra long, sturdy, and heavy duty. The dimmer switch is also nice quality and works very well. I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty and quality of this lamp, given the price, and look forward to purchasing more of them.

If I could give the WBM company where this Himalayan Salt Lamp comes from a ZERO star review, I would! They do not care about their customers at all! I bought 2 of these Salt Lamps, a Himalayan Salt Chunk Basket, and 4 Himalayan Tea Light Candle Holders from this company all in one day! The Himalayan Salt Chunk Basket came first. These items are EXTREMELY heavy.......a lot heavier than I thought they would be. Anyway, after opening the box and unpackaging the item (which is packaged in many different layers), I set out the lamp and plugged it in. Much to my dismay, the light did not work in my Salt Lamp. I turned the dimmer switch up and down a couple of times and it turned on for a minute and then turned off again. I found that if I had the dimmer switch in just the right position, it worked. But, as soon as I moved it just a tiny bit, it would turn off again. I do not want a plug/dimmer switch/bulb that works some of the time, I want one that works ALL of the time! Then I looked at all of the salt chunks in the basket. All of the WBM products claim to give off an AMBER glow. For the few minutes that my Salt Lamp was on, I noticed that the Salt Chunks were mainly white with a few pink chunks thrown in. Those were my two main issues with the Himalayan Salt Chunk Basket. Then, the next day my 4 Himalayan Salt Tea Light Candle Holders and 2 of the #1002 Himalayan Salt Lamps arrived! The box was so heavy.......I would say at least 30 pounds. I got everything out, unpackaged the products for about a half an hour because of how many layers they are wrapped in and looked at everything. The two Salt Lamps looked beautiful! Two of the Tea Light Candle Holders were pink and two of the Tea Light Candle Holders were a dirty white color like you would see in the snow in the winter. One of the white ones looked like it was nearly cut right in half. Now, I understand that Himalayan Salt is a naturally occurring substance and that each product will be a bit different, but these tea light candle holders varied not only in color, but in weight. I would say that they can vary by up to a pound or two. Yes, they are that different. I put tea light candles in all four of the tea light holders and 2 of them were a beautiful amber color (as stated on ALL WBM products), and two of them looked like salt that was put on the road after a heavy snow......DIRTY WHITE! I was happy with the two pink tea light candle holders but VERY UNHAPPY with the other two! Then I went to plug in the two Salt Lamps. Well, one of the plug/dimmer switch/bulbs was smashed at the dimmer switch and did not turn on at all! I plugged in the other Salt Lamp and although it's plug/dimmer switch/bulb was not smashed, it did not work either!!! OMG! I ORDERED 7 PRODUCTS FROM THIS COMPANY AND ONLY 2 OF THE TEA LIGHT CANDLE HOLDERS WERE AS DESCRIBED! The other 2 were dirty white in color and one was carved practically in half. NONE OF MY HIMALAYAN SALT LAMPS WORKED BECAUSE OF THE DIMMER SWITCHES!!!! I was VERY disappointed! I called Amazon and told a Customer Service Rep. what was going on and she provided me with WBM's Customer Service Number. I called it and talked to one of WBM's Customer Service Reps. He said that I had to email WBM after he took down notes on every single issue that I had with my WBM products. So, I wrote to WBM. I waited a couple of days and received NO RESPONSE. I resent my original email to WBM again........STILL NO RESPONSE! I wrote to WBM a third time telling them that I needed 3 new plug/dimmer switches/bulbs, a new bag of salt chunks for the Salt Basket Lamp, and 2 of the 4 Tea Light Candle Holders replaced. I was expecting all of these FREE OF CHARGE because I was clearly sent DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS! I got a response stating that I would receive the 3 plug/dimmer switches/bulbs free of charge, but that they did not replace Salt Chunks (Even though they were mainly dirty and white) and they would not replace the 2 Tea Light Candle Holders free of charge! I was asked for my address and told that the three dimmer switches would be sent to me. AT THIS POINT, I AM JUST FUMING MAD! I PAID $75 FOR DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS AND WBM WAS ONLY GOING TO SEND ME THE 3 DIMMER SWITCHES FREE OF CHARGE! I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT WBM DOES NOT HAVE REPLACEMENT SALT CHUNKS! REALLY? WHERE DO YOU GET THE SALT CHUNKS FOR ALL OF YOUR OTHER SALT CHUNK BASKETS? AND THE 2 TEA LIGHT CANDLE HOLDERS THAT ARE DIRTY AND WHITE AND CARVED INCORRECTLY COST $10.00 FOR BOTH OF THEM TOGETHER AS I BOUGHT THE TWO PACK! SO WBM EXPECTS ME TO SHIP BACK THE TWO DIRTY WHITE TEA LIGHT CANDLE HOLDERS THAT WEIGH SO MUCH THAT IT WOULD COST ME MORE IN SHIPPING THAN I PAID FOR THEM! WHAT A JOKE! IT HAS BEEN TWO WEEKS SINCE MY ORIGINAL EMAIL WAS SENT TO WBM AND I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY 3 FREE PLUGS/DIMMER SWITCHES/BULBS!!!!! WBM SELLS DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS AND CLEARLY DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS! The one good thing I can say is that Amazon went ahead and replaced my two dirty white Tea Light Candle Holders FREE OF CHARGE and did not make me send the ones that I have back! I bought 3 of these for my home. I love the warm light, that can be adjusted to your preference. It feels like the warm glow of a fire. It promotes relaxation & a calm inner peace. I have one in my bedroom that I use every day, starting when the sunsets (or earlier if it's a gloomy day). It provides great light for reading, if it's positioned close to you. It gives the entire room a warm feel to it. I turn it down when I go to bed & use it as a night light. I'm an adult with disabilities & need a nightlight so I don't trip or fall when I need to get up at night. Plus I can't sleep in the dark due to PTSD. This is so much better than your typical night light. It gives me a warm, cozy & calm feeling. I have been sleeping so much better with this light. I fall asleep faster & stay asleep longer. As far as it cleaning the air, I can't comment because I do not know how to tell if it does that. I have a cat who sleeps with me, but I do not have allergies. I use one in my living room at night when I want to curl up on the couch & watch a movie. I find normal lights to be too harsh for me. I always use a low watt bulb, but I still get headaches & find the lowest watt light too harsh. This light is perfect for me. When my daughter (who has allergies & asthma) comes home from college, I have one ready for her bedroom. I am anxious to see if it helps her allergies while she is here & will add to my review about the air purifier aspects after she visits. I never expected it to help PTSD issues & that has been a major plus. I was going to add a picture, but the picture doesn't accurately show the light. It is a soft orange glow & the pictures come out showing the light as bright white light.

I've bought 5 of these!, fast shipping, & exactly what I wanted! I gifted one and that friend loves the dimmer switch, is sleeping better, these are the true Himalayan Salt Lamps from Pakistan, the price is Great Value!, Great to have the dimmer switch, as I & my friend use it, just enough light, & saves on electrical bills!, I love the soft lighting amber glow these lamps give, I'm not one for high lighting, I like the soft lighting these WBM 1002 lighting give,, I believe in the cleaning of air, I have them near my plants as well. they're safe comes in proper packaging, every section is well wrapped separately, I'm extremely pleased with mine, everyone has a different shape, stands very well on it's neem wood base!, Looks Fantastic, Very Impressed! as is my friend I bought one for!, I believe in the health benefits, as said I've bought 5 now! Primo:j'ai commandé cette lampe en même temps que ma lampe Verilux vendredi soir et j'ai eu les deux samedi matin! C'est un record, même avec Prime! Secundo : soigneusement emballées, les deux sont arrivées impeccables, prêtes à être utilisées tout de suite. Tertio : cette lampe est unique, faite à la main, de très belle forme, exactement comme je l'ai désirée. Elle diffuse la lumière douce et chaude, qui fait du bien et declanche un sourire intérieur. Je me moque de preuves scientifiques, si sont valables ou non, je ressens tout simplement qu'elle me fait du bien et m'apporte l'apaisement et de la joie. A souligner aussi, que la possibilité de réglage d'intensité de sa lumière est très, très très appréciée! C'est une lampe magique, à recommander à 100%!🤗

I bought this because my mother recommended I have one or two in the house. While I can't entirely comment on the effects of the product, I can for the quality. I was very excited to get this because it would be a surprise as to how it looked. And I was not disappointed. It has a beautiful shape. Nice and natural looking. The light reaches all the way through with no overly dark patches. The cord is long enough and has a dimmer knob which I find fantastic. Nice night light at dimmer settings. The salt part doesn't get hot and neither does the cord.

Purchased it. First arrived in a beat up box wrapped in a black plastic bag. The lamp itself seemed to have a wiring connection issue as indicated by the dimmer not working and any bumping of the wire caused the lamp to dim all the way, or flicker, or go out completely. Requested a replacement. 2 days later a replacement came - this time with no internal bulb nor plastic base below the wooden base to keep it from slipping (the first iteration had that as part of the bulb housing); the product is advertised as including an LED bulb. Going to request a refund and will not buy again.
