A great boot at a great price
I am normally around size 9 to 10 shoe. I bought a size 11 boot, which fits me very well. I had absolutely NO problems with blisters. As you can see from the photos, I wore these boots in snowy conditions in Scotland and my feet were perfectly warm with double socks. I really liked the "cinch" lace hook which basically holds the lace under tension so that you can get a tight fit when lacing up. However, after 60km of walking over 3 days, my one ankle was tender (nothing to do with the boot I don't think - more my prominent ankle bone!), I loosened up the top part of the boot and still had no issues with movement of my heel in the boot. So a big win from that perspective. They were also totally waterproof, even when I walked into streams etc. I have now done around 40 hours of walking in them and still perfectly waterproof. The water just beads off the boot. I suspect this will eventually wear off but for now, it works very well. The only issue I had was that they felt hard underfoot. The soles of my feet felt rather battered by the end of the 3rd day. I did put in my own insoles (nothing fancy - just a set I had with me) that may have helped, but I do think I will invest in some decent insoles before my next big outing. There isn't much cushioning in the boot sole. All in all, I am pretty happy with these boots and they certainly offer great value for money. I give them 4 out of 5 (losing 1 star due to the underfoot comfort).

No compromise hiking shoe
Summary: These are the best hiking shoes I've had, completely waterproof, comfortable, grippy and they keep your foot and ankle very secure. Fit: True to size, also I struggle with ankle injury and these basically enable me to hike, they keep joint secure, yet mobile enough to walk comfortable. They are not very flexible - but that's a feature, they are suitable for crampons. Sole: Vibram sole is very grippy and number of times I was amazed how well it kept me on the track, in fact few times I expected to slip and they kept me upright! Waterproof: Waterproof is complete, not just grass, but you can dunk them in the water and stay dry - I tested this not just in action but also in the bucket when cleaning shoes. Comfort: Blisterfree guarantee just works - there's not a single area which would rub or chuff, even when I lace very tight to keep my ankle safe. Lacing: Easy and secure, quick to lace and unlace, once again can't stress enough how secure ankle feels in these. Recommended!

Quality boots
Got boots 0.5 size up , I usually wear UK 9.5 but bought UK 10 on previous buyers advice. Perfect fit . Well constructed boots with hi spec materials. Very similar to early Scarpa Rebel lite boots that I wore to destruction in the Scottish mountains. Got these to replace newer model Scarpa Ribelle HDCL which didn’t suit my foot shape. The Salewa boot is a good fit with customisation possible with different footbed options. It has a great Vibram sole for precision rock climbing/scrambling. The tread pattern and heel design are adequate for loose scree and soft muddy ground and snow. Crampon compatibility and light weight combined with Gore-Tex lining make for an excellent boot for Scottish winter outings. Will be buying these again .

Good, but too heavy
I wore this shoes hiking in Svalbard, the temperature was -28 degrees. My feet feel cold even I wore the thickest merino wool socks. So I think this shoes may be suitable for the temperature above -20 degrees. This shoes can prevent breaking my ankle. The weakness of it is weight. It is too heavy, so I don’t think beginners can wear it walking for long distance. It is very slippery when I walking in the wet mountains. Shoes are very hard, not comfortable, and not suitable for everyday wear.

So far so good
Done 10 hours of hiking, so far waterproofing is solid, nice stability on the ankle, comfortable and an accurate fit, and seemingly good quality. One thing to note is that the insole is very hard - your foot does acclimatise but it may be worth getting softer insoles on longer hikes.

Seem like really great boots
These seem really comfortable, with a great sole and seem able to take anything. They are super stiff so great for climbing in technical terrain, and crampon compatible. I did have to return them due to a slight squeeze of the pinky toes (a problem with my weirdly wide feet so wouldn't put this down to the boot) which became worse when I tried on with thick hiking socks, and would have got the next size up but none were in stock. Will put on my watchlist

Good customisable fit, slightly larger volume compared to Rapace boot
after approx.100 miles, these are very comfy boots, however the right foot is no longer water tight! Very disappointing, I’ve owned Meindl and Scarpa over the years and neither of these brands have ever let me down Further update, after contacting Salewa directly regarding regarding the leaking boots, I got the following response: ‘Please take note that the waterproofing membrane is not produced by Salewa, therefore leakage problems are not always due to a manufacturing defect. For further information on this, please contact the membrane manufacturer directly through the following link:’ I’m astounded that Salewa will not stand by the product quality and hide behind or blame materials manufactured by their suppliers! Having worn Meindl and Scarpa for many years and receiving fantastic customer support when needed I will be avoiding this manufacturer of ‘mountain footwear’ as clearly they do not value their customers.

My past hiking footwear has often resembled a reluctant truce. My previous boots were either overly rigid, resembling miniature concrete bunkers for my feet, or possessed waterproofing capabilities akin to a colander in a rainstorm. Navigating anything more challenging than a well-paved sidewalk typically resulted in suboptimal kinetic performance and a high probability of developing localized epidermal friction anomalies (blisters, in layman's terms). A significant upgrade was necessitated. My search protocols, prioritizing robust construction and advanced moisture ingress prevention technology, yielded the Salewa Crow GTX Hiking Boots. Upon receipt and initial inspection, the units presented a formidable yet aesthetically pleasing profile. The upper construction, a composite of what appears to be durable suede and wear-resistant synthetic textiles, suggests a high degree of abrasion resistance. The integrated GORE-TEX membrane, a critical component in the moisture management subsystem, promises a differential permeability – allowing water vapor efflux (sweat) while preventing liquid water influx (puddles, unexpected stream crossings). This is a significant functional advantage over passive hydrophobic coatings which often degrade over time. Field testing commenced on a moderately challenging trail featuring variable terrain and intermittent hydration hazards (mud puddles of questionable depth). The multi-directional lug pattern on the outsole provided exceptional traction across diverse substrates, exhibiting a high coefficient of friction on both damp earth and dry rock surfaces. Ascending inclines felt secure, with minimal heel lift observed, a testament to the lacing system's effective foot lockdown mechanism. The semi-rigid midsole provided adequate torsional stability, mitigating excessive pronation or supination on uneven ground, thus reducing the biomechanical stress on my ankle and knee joints. My feet, previously prone to complaining about minor topographical variations, remained remarkably stable and comfortable. Analytically, the power transfer from leg muscles to ground propulsion felt more efficient compared to my previous footwear. The boot's structural integrity maintained foot alignment, allowing for a more direct application of force. The GORE-TEX layer performed as specified; despite intentionally stepping in a puddle that could rival a small pond, the internal microclimate of the boot remained within acceptable parameters for thermal and moisture regulation. My socks concluded the hike in a state of dryness previously only achievable under laboratory conditions. The weight per boot, while noticeable, felt appropriate for the level of protection and support provided, a favorable mass-to-utility ratio. Subjectively, the experience was transformative. I felt more confident navigating technical sections of the trail, less concerned about footing or moisture intrusion. The boots felt like a natural extension of my legs, rather than cumbersome external attachments. There's a certain humorous satisfaction in striding through conditions that would have previously resulted in soggy socks and existential dread, all while your feet remain in their own perfectly regulated micro-environment. If your current hiking footwear is a source of operational inefficiency or discomfort, you require reliable moisture protection, and appreciate a boot engineered for performance across varied challenging terrains, the Salewa Crow GTX is a highly recommended investment. Its technical features translate directly into enhanced trail performance and foot comfort. My feet are happier, my hikes are more enjoyable, and I am thoroughly impressed by this piece of technical footwear.
