My Utmost for His Highest

You know how you search and search for a devotional that really speaks to you and the struggles of your life that you think only you go through? I bought so many devotionals that were gonna be "the one" that just ended up sitting on my desk. Then my pastor friend who had given me awesome book suggestions in the past just said to try his out for a month. I never took a test drive like that before. I think it was in the fall, maybe in October, and the series of daily devotionals and bible verse readings really built one on top of the other. It was real easy to read, and also easy for me to apply to that day I was facing. I first ordered the wrong version and as I spoke to my neighbor he shared with me that he really only likes the KJV. I'm not a fan. Interpreting the intent of the Bible is hard enough. Also interpreting the old English way of writing is needlessly complicated in my opinion. Anyhoo...I gave that version to my neighbor. I ordered the newer version that I now use every day. It's fantastic, remarkable, and connects me further to God's Word. I've recommended this to many many others and I doubt that any of them were disappointed.

I bought this one for a friend. I received this book two years ago as a gift. Last year, I couldn't understand every devotional, and highlighted passages from the ones that I was able to understand. This year, I've been able to understand some of those that I didn't last year and gained new insights from the ones I could understand. I'm positive this book will be an integral part of my study of and devotion to the Word of God for many more years to come!

The one star is not for the content, it has its own reputation. But this printing is full of errors in binding. I have 3 full months of July within my copy. The photo I attached isn't even all of them, it was just as many as I could hold with one hand. And the paper is very thin, almost like a thinline bible, too thin. Maybe if the publisher didn't over-print every month they could have used thicker paper. Bottom line: not a good quality edition of a classic.

WOW. ... this book is so uplifting as you read the words of Oswald Chambers. We know the Bible is our true book of encouragement through the good and bad moments, but Oswald Chamber as such a gift of sharing in such an uplifting way. This is a must buy. The book is very quality made, bound like none other than the Bible, and is easy to interpret even for me -- a simple minded person.

If a person needs a little 'kick' in their Christian walk, this is the daily devotional...it is a MUST!!! I 'almost' jump ahead sometimes, but more often, go back and re-read, because I need the reminders. I like Oswald's manner with words...He is as current as NOW!

An all time classic! Love this devotional. Smart wisdom for today's time and very much needed. I was given the mass market smaller blue book and loved it so much that I decided to buy the same book but with better cover. To my surprise it comes with a built in marker for your pages. Thanks! Amazon for making this book available.

The old hard cover I have is laid out better and easier to read...for those of us without perfect vision. The content is still the Best! Chambers calls your heart and mind to better your relationship with God.

A classic and a perfect gift for young adults to start their day in the stressful world of today. Brief and to the point.
