Before I did, I reached out to Presto's customer service, gave them the Model Number (they also asked for the Series Number, both found at the bottom of the unit). Their reply was this: "The part on your dehydrator that has BPA in it is the lens in the front of the appliance. There is no food contact with that part." Just to be double-sure, I asked them specifically: "So to confirm, there is no BPA in the trays themselves, the lid or the center/core of the unit that heats up and moves warm air through the food, is that correct? The BPA is isolated just in the front lens?" to which they replied "Correct." I guess they can't label an item BPA-free if it is contained in any part of the unit.
