Maui Jim Men's and Women's Stingray Polarized Wrap Sunglasses

After a visit to the eye doc it was presumed that my "fave" sunglasses may not be up to the protection job they might have had when new. I was told that many brands of glasses only lightly "coat" the lenses for UV protection especially the "plastic" lenses. Cheap glasses may not have any UV protection at all despite the claims...who tests them?? Nobody?? What apparently isn't told is that these coatings may/do deteriorate over time AND using alcohol lens cleaners and dish soaps may also remove coatings. My research indicated that the more expensive brands have higher quality and more durable UV coatings (impregnated or baked into the glass) that are important to protect your eyes from sun damage -- not just shading. Although my "Faves" were not inexpensive, they were 4 or 5 years old and apparently had inferior to perhaps zero UV blocking abilities today! Long story short, I researched the MJs and found that these glass lenses have superior harmful UV blocking. my Polycarbonate "faves" lenses...less so and were (only effective when new) likely "coated". I did a side by side comparison between these and my old "faves" and I was blowen away by the superior clarity and color crispness of these Maui Jim glasses. You only have one set of eyes...treat them with respect and invest in quality eye ware...not for fashion but, so you don't lose you vision acuity in later years when it's too late to undo damage. Suffice it to say....these are GREAT sunglasses and even look good...a bonus!!! My eyes deserve the investment. Yours do too!!

I purchased these in July of 2014. I paid $189 for the black frame/netural gray Glass lenses. They have held up very well. No scratches, and the temple springs are as good as they were when new. I take good care of them, keeping them in their case when not in use, and clean them regularly using a bit of dish soap. I love the clarity and weight of the glass lenses, as they are superior to any of the composite lenses I've had a chance to compare them to, including their own brand's plastic lenses. (I spent some time in a Bass Pro Shop comparing these to Costas, Smiths, and Oakleys) These are my everyday casual and business wear glasses. These are great for driving; the polarization on these lenses is superior to Oakley in my opinion, and I love how well the polarizing lenses cut glare. These also work fantastic for cutting glare on watery surfaces like lakes and rivers, but honestly I am too fearful of losing these in the water to wear them near it! I would not wear these for any activity requiring a lot of movement, such as playing sports, since they are heavy, and because most of the weight is in the lenses, they are likely to fall off. During every day use though, these are secure enough that them falling off your head is a non-issue (unless you try to "store" them on the top of your head when not in use - DON'T do that!). My only grip with these is that after wearing them continuously for more than an hour, they do become a bit uncomfortable on the bridge of my nose.. taking them off for a brief period helps with any discomfort, but this is the sacrifice I'm willing to make to wear glass lenses. I will admit I keep a pair of Oakley flak jackets around for outdoor activities, and for times when I worry about scratching the lens (such as bumming on the beach). However, the quality of these are fantastic and I am glad I purchased them... I will buy another when the time comes. Couple of tips: - In my opinion, I would NOT suggest purchasing these glasses in a composite lens... the glass lenses are so much clearer. In my opinion, these frames are designed to hold a heavy glass lens in place. I would prefer to purchase a composite lens in a "frameless" or "semi-frameless" option to take advantage of the lighter weight of the composite lenses, and the ability to swap lenses on some brands of frames. - The shiny black frame, on the inside of the frame actually reflects light at some angles, and can be distracting. Wearing a hat eliminates this completely, but if you're looking for a frame that completely blocks the sun due to the way it wraps and fits your face, this probably isn't going to be sufficient.

I’ve been using the Maui Jim Stingray Polarized Wrap Sunglasses for a few years now, and I’m seriously impressed. Right off the bat, the polarization is excellent—there’s no glare, even in bright sunlight, which has been a game-changer for me, especially while driving and out on the water. The clarity of the lenses is top-notch. Everything looks sharper, with a slight boost in color contrast that makes my surroundings pop without feeling unnatural. The wraparound design offers great coverage, protecting my eyes from light coming in at the sides, which is something I hadn’t realized I needed until I started using these. They’re also very lightweight and comfortable to wear for long periods. I’ve worn them on hikes and while driving long distances, and they never felt heavy or like they were pressing into my temples. One thing I appreciate is the build quality—it feels premium. The frame is durable without being bulky, and the hinges are smooth. Plus, they look great! I’ve gotten compliments on the sleek design more than once. The only downside I’ve noticed is that the price might feel steep for some, but given the durability, protection, and how comfortable they are, I think they’re totally worth it. This is actually my 4th pair as I have always appreciated the quality of Maui Jim and see this as an investment. If you’re outdoors a lot or need high-quality sunglasses for everyday use, I’d highly recommend the Maui Jim Stingray.

They maybe little bit pricey but you get what you pay for. The quality of the lenses, softness of the frame and the strength of the hinges are unparalleled. I own both the black and the brown. I damaged the lenses and sent them to Maui Jim for repair. I paid around $50 if I can recall for two new lenses. After couple of weeks they mailed me a new pair. I just love doing business with Maui Jim. They are a customer centric company. Unlike my experience with Ray bans customer service….that’s a story for another review. To be clear I did not receive any compensation or free product for this review. It’s my honest opinion based on my experience with Maui Jim company.

This was my first pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. Feeling them in your hand you will feel like they are a solid pair of glasses, not made of cheap materials. The lenses are glass and add to the weight. A little too heavy in my opinion, but they do offer the non glass lenses that I assume would drop the weight. The frames are sturdy and the springs make the arms of the frame pop closed. It is a satisfying feeling/sound. The lenses are incredible. They look as natural as you can get. Looking through them is like high definition. I use these for everyday driving and outdoor activities. I have not used them out on the water. They come with a nice Maui Jim carry case and cleaning cloth. I wouldn't recommend these for people who would like a nice pair of driving glasses. If this review was helpful please vote. Thanks.

I recently purchased my 3rd pair of Maui Jim’s. Love how they fit and the clarity of the lens, especially when driving. Very disappointed in Maui Jim’s decision to downgrade from the quality protective case to the cheap cardboard “sunglass case” that was sent. The previous pairs I have purchased both came with very solid cases. The first pair came with a hard case that had strong hinges that snapped closed and kept my sunglasses safe and I never worried about it coming open on its on and my sunglasses being damaged. My second pair came with a case that had zipper closure with a latching hook at one end. I was able to attach the case for easy access. Great case that made it easy to grab my sunglasses from my bag or off a belt loop always providing a safe place to keep my sunglasses whenever I took them off. That sunglass case was even shown in a photo on the Maui Jim website when I was scrolling through the photos and specifications for the Stingrays I purchased from their website. I thought my sunglasses would be shipped inside that case as the previous pair. I was happy when my sunglasses arrived but very disappointed in the folded cardboard “case” that came with them. I don’t feel confident at all tossing it into my bag as I was accustomed to doing with the two previous cases that my Maui Jim’s arrived in. Cutting corners over there?? Why not just tack on an extra $10 to the purchase price and keep your customers happy and our purchases better protected?

I have owned 4 pair and I love the product and the company. They fixed my last pair after I took a spill and broke them. One pair went into the Gulf of Mexico... Maui Jim's are on me every day that I'm alive - How's that ! Wallet, keys, phone, Maui Jim's, lets roll.

Beware the unisex design if you are a male. I tried on these sunglasses and the arms barely reach my ears. I have an average sized head - cap size is either medium or large. But the size of these (very expensive) sunglasses would be more suitable for a teenager than an adult.

I am thrilled I found these!! I had the exact same pair for about 10 years & they finally met their demise. I honestly didn’t think I’d stilll find them. These are the best sunglasses I’ve ever owned! I love the fit - they are perfect! I don’t like big sunglasses and these fit my face like a glove. Arrived in less than 24 hours after purchasing.

J’aime toujours la qualité de Maui Jim sur la matière nylon légère et la polarisation de mes lunettes. Mais ces lunettes sont trop larges pour moi, pas de support au niveau de nez pour ajuster et elles sont lourdes. Ça tombe sur mes joues. Livraison le lendemain. Super rapide 👍
