I love love this butter bell. I have left butter out on the counter my whole life. It was always unsightly and messy looking. This item stows the butter neatly and keeps it safely enclosed. I lit keeps the butter at a PERFECT consistency for spreading. the sturdy handle doubles as a nice base when open. I would recommend this item a million times over. A great value!

The matte black ceramic matches my Pfaltzgraff Midnight Sun pattern really well, which is how I came to the product. So far the bell works great; if you appropriately push the room temp butter into the bell and fill it up with 1/3 cup water as directed, the butter stays fresh, soft, and there isn't really excess water on the butter itself, just the rim of the bell. The handle is easy to grab and the bell can stand upside-down on a table when opened. So this is better than hard fridge butter, melty or dusty exposed butter, or a large oblong butter dish lid that doesn't have a handle and requires you to have Shaq hands to palm it. My one note is that I agree with the person who said that a marker/line inside showing you how far to fill the water would be helpful so that you don't have to guess or use a measuring cup. I also have not used this in the summertime yet, when the butter might be more prone to slipping. If it works then, that will be the full test.

attractive butter bell- easy to clean and use

I got this to replace a butter bell I had bought several years ago but recently broke. The one I had had a glossy glaze finish and I was frustrated and disappointed to find that that option has apparently been discontinued. So, begrudgingly, I bought the matt version since I can't do without a butter bell. When it arrived I was surprised how much I liked the matt look. it's not truly dull or flat and does have a little shine to it. I'm still sorry my original bell of many years got broken but I do like this new matt option and it goes well with the rest of my kitchen. As for product itself. I've used the Butter Bell for years now and I can't imagine living without one. It keeps the butter at just the right consistency for spreading, and keeps it nice and fresh. I go through butter pretty fast so I've never had it go bad in the bell, but even if I didn't I'd feel confident that the bell could/would keep butter fresh for a reasonable time. It did take a little experimentation to learn how to best pack the butter in so that it stays secure, but once I mastered that, well like I said above, I really can't imagine not having a ready, convenient, source of spreadable fresh butter on hand.

I use my butter bell ALL THE TIME. It’s so cute and easy to clean. It holds the butter very well. I learned to only use salted butter in a butter bell. It lasts much longer than unsalted butter. The butter spreads so soft and is great for morning time breakfast

I bought this butter bell to make butter last longer while keeping it soft. It works. The principle is simple: pack the butter into the upper bowl of the lid, pour a small amount of water into the container, and slide the upper bowl of the lid into the container. The water creates a seal -- the butter remains soft (room temperature) and lasts much longer. The butter bell is not just a simple solution for keeping a small quantity of butter ready for use, it is the best solution.

I purchased this as a gift for my daughter who requested one for her birthday. I had never heard of them before but what a great idea. Been around for decades! It keeps butter fresh out of the fridge. I want one for myself now.

This little butter bell is awesome! Beautifully made, we keep it on our counter and it looks sharp. It keeps the butter soft whereas other ceramic butter dishes do t work and butter is still so hard. Highly recommend! Worth every dollar if you want soft butter!
