I bought this for my 3yo granddaughter and we had so much fun watching the butterflies emerge and then send them off on their own. We live in Florida so this is a great year round gift. The catepillars come separately after you go online and order them. They looked dead when they arrived but customer service encouraged a lot of patience for them to finally wake up. It was fun to check on them each day to see how big they got. Customer service was prompt with their responses. I highly recommend it for anyone. It was a great experience

This worked exactly as described, and we had 5 healthy live chrysalis, but unfortunately they wiggle as they grow, so the cat got to them all one night. The tent is great for keeping butterflies in, but not cats out. We'll try again next year, because I really want the grandkids to witness the full process.

I ordered this for my 3 and 4yr old grand daughters as they were just learning about the cycle of a butterfly, they absolutely loved it. It's instructions are very accurate. The girls did so good at the end cuz it's bitter sweet to watch them fly off, this will now be a annual activity.

I used to work in an elementary school and this was a standard when studying science. It can be used in conjunction with the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Best time to buy this would be now as the weather is getting nicer and the butterflies can be released in the warner weather. Please note that the kit does not come with the caterpillars. You need to send away for them but they arrived quickly and all were in good shape!

Probably my fourth butterfly garden. I started with their older box version and liked that you could see through the view area, but they do get soiled and were not washable. They then came out with a version that was a mesh cloth. I didn't care for that because viewing was not the best. This is a better modal! This and the mesh cylinder one are both washable and reusable. A feature that is nice because you will want to repeat this yearly.

We bought this for our granddaughter’s 4th birthday because she’s been studying butterflies at school and she loves it. Keep in mind that you have to order the caterpillars (free) with the certificate that’s included with the kit… UPDATE: Caterpillars were ordered online and delivered within 5 business days!

My grandson is learning about bugs. This was a really fun and hands on way to experience the different stages of a butterfly. Paired with a book, he was thrilled to receive as a gift.
