My Whirlpool Convection Oven door was in need of a good glass cleaning and it became obvious to me the only way to get the door back into a new look was to remove and dismantle the door. If you have never taken an oven door apart I would suggest you photo the disassembly process for a reference. My my door has 4 separate panes of tempered glass. The door disassembly with the aid of a power screwdriver was actually easy and took little time. One of the items removed was a band of insulation cut picture framed around the innermost pane of glass. I found the insulation to be too soiled to suit mke and decided to replace. I went online to find the insulation and the part was discontinued. I could see why as it was lightweight and flimsy. So checking on Amazon I found this 1"x2" roll of insulation. The original insulation was 1"x1-5/8" but this insulation cut to size actually fit much better as it was a much tighter fit. With a razor knife this insulation cuts easily leaving sharp well defined edges. It is a high density insulation so it was more rigid and much better suited for my purpose. Self adhesive aluminium foil tape can be used to provide a bond for individual pieces orto sharpen the edges if desired. As far as this insulation it was perfect for my needs and I recommend the product. I would buy again if I ever use up the remainder of this roll.

Would have been nice to have adhesive on one side, but was the perfect size for my heating oil furnace collar and passed the butane lighter test. Also comes with a lot of length. Neither my local Ace or Home Depot had anything like this. Will see how it goes through next winter when we’re cranking the heat again.

I bought this to use on my Blue Rhino Razor ( 4 burner griddle) as a wind blocker. It works great, I’d definitely recommend it! It fit right in between the griddle and frame, and I’m getting a much more even and consistent heat. Blocking the 2 sides and the back seems to be providing the perfect air/ gas mixture for a nice consistent flame and a good even heat whatever the setting. It’s hard to make out in the pictures and video, but I tried to show the difference between before/ after. Before the insulation blocking the wind I was getting a much more orange and inconsistent flame throughout, after it’s a nice solid blue. Great product!
