Wonderfully told story with lots of ups and downs that highlight how having a purpose in life can keep you going despite the obstacles faced. The reader is taken on an emotional journey, one that will make you laugh and cry, and yet makes you want to know what is coming next. Wishes are not just for the young and dreamers, they are for everyone, and sometimes the sharing of those wishes can make magical things happen in the everyday things we too often take for granted. A hug, a gentle pat to a shoulder, sharing a silent moment, can all become fuel to making wishes come true and turn the ordinary into magic.

It made me laugh. It made me cry. It feeled my heart. An unexpected book, not one I would've usually read, but worth every second. A story of resilience, a story of hope, a of story of love.

This was one of the best books I've read in a long time. At first I just enjoyed the sweet simplicity of a friendship between a crotchety elderly man and a cheeky, impudent 10 year old boy. But somewhere along the way I got hooked and couldn't put the book down. Murray McBride made it his sole focus to make 5 wishes come true for his dying 10 yr old friend. I laughed, smiled and cried thru this book. Joe Siple is a talented writer with an ability to make his characters come alive and imprint themselves on your heart.

This is the story of a very old man and a young boy with a heart condition, who both find joy in life again when they share their true selves with each other and another young companion. We follow their adventures and fall in love with each of them as they attempt to fulfill five essential wishes. The story is both uplifting and heartrending at the same time. The true meaning of love shines through the character of Murray McBride right to the last page of this book.

As a woman who is 80, I understood how Murray felt physically and emotionally. Joe Siple made the characters very believable. I hope you enjoy thi story as much as I did, no matter what your age!

Wonderful writing;, sad, funny believable story of three main characters held together by unspoken love for one another. Quite a lesson putting yourself into the thoughts and memories of a 100 year old gentleman.

A totally beautiful book ! I wasn't sure I wanted to read this book, but I had it downloaded on my kindle and our internet was out so I couldn't load another one to start. I am so glad. This amazing book has a wealth of love, connection, surprises, and genuine human compassion that we all need to open our hearts. The characters are so real you feel like you are with them every step of the way. The author did an incredible job!

This story, the characters, the plot was so incredibly beautiful and well written that I couldn't put it down. It was heartfelt and heartbreaking. Best book I've read for quite some time. It would make an excellent movie.

Excellent read, great story

The Five Wishes of Mr. Murray McBride is a contemporary ficiton novel that narrates the story of the heartwarming journey gathering two people from extremely distant generations; Mr McBride is a hundred years old, and Jason is ten. Neither has many days to live, but both have some wishes to fulfil before they die. Along the way, you will another small but significant character will join the duo; Tiegan, the angel as Mr McBride describes. She will truly become an angel at the end of the story. It's a great story; sometimes humorous, sometimes heartbreaking, but most of the time, so real. You will spot some important themes while reading it. For example, there is the irony of time, regret, age, hope, friendship, and the power of Fate. At the beginning, the stroy makes you, as a reader, laugh at the irony of time. You could see how the old thinks the young has plenty of time to live, and the young think the old are left behind. Later on, you'll understand how regret can be torturous.The older we get, the more we regret the things we missed, misused, and misunderstood. But, it's becuase of regret, Mr MacBride does his best to make Jason happy before it's too late. Halfway through the story, you will feel how age is just a number. Whether you are a hundred years old or ten, it's all about your heart and soul. The message of 'don't let them age' seems to hidden between the lines.Then, the more you read, the more you see hope in tge story. The characters will make you see and give hope even if you ran out of any. Mr McBride did. You will also understand that true friendship doesn't know age, doesn't need time, and doesnt imply perfection. Finally, at the end, you will find out how fate can not be challenged. You might think you're going to die, but then you live. Or, you might think you're going to live, but then die. Isn't that life? I really enjoyed reading this book and think it's suitable for different age groups. Herewith is my favourite quote from the book: "That’s the thing about youth. It’s always moving. The best way to miss it is to sit around and watch it pass by. Or try to grab it on the way by. If you want to experience it, you have to live. You have to do."

A touching story that grabs you completely and changes you with the powerful and complex realities that exist within the pages. There’s courage and compassion and humour and mystery, there’s relatable characters and there’s painful truths. But above all there’s beauty and love and a fierce strength that we remember exists within the human spirit! Absolute literary gold…..perfection!
