The HydroTools Reel System replaces all of the weathered plastic parts. The parts assemble easily and fit onto the original 3 inch diameter metal tube like factory parts. It includes all necessary hardware for assembly along with new straps and nylon bolts to attach to the solar blanket.

Works ok. It doesn’t roll up smoothly. I can see us replacing it again in another year or so.

This worked great. We fixed our broken reel. With out the cost of getting a new reel system. Would look in the warehouse deals again

We ordered this reel system purchased for a solar blanket we purchased a few months ago. My husband wanted to save $ and just roll it ourselves but that is just not even feasible. This item arrived quickly and packaged very well. Instructions are included but are ridiculously poor and some of it I can just figure out by looking at it but strapping the thing to the solar blanket is a mystery and there are more screws than there are places to put them for assembly and yet there are some holes for screws and screws to fit which appear to have no purpose whatsoever other than to fill a screw hole as the screws don't attach one thing to another thing at all! Then we have a whole packet of screws which came with the pole and there are no holes at all for those! We are not stupid people but find this quite confusing. Then, the screws we really need to attach the solar blanker - we are severely lacking in those little white plastic screws that attach the straps to the solar blanket. Sadly, I will need to call them tomorrow to ask for telephonic instructions. I hope I find someone helpful.

Works great. Be aware that the bar does NOT come with this, you're only buying the end mounts with crank wheels. Order the bar separately. I used this for an in-ground pool (fasteners are meant for an above ground pool), needed to drill into the deck and bolt it down but that works fine. It has turned a bit yellowish over 6 months in the sun. Update: 12 months of intermittent use - the plastic has yellowed quite a bit. Last night, a heavy wind blew the reel off its stand and the plastic broke in three places. The U-shape that the crank sits in broke off one side, the circular crank handle broke in two places. I will not buy another one.

Assembly and installation was straight forward, seemed to work great and is a good design. However after only 2 weeks the plastic upper mount with the roller pins shattered when the kids tried to roll up the thermal cover. The plastic appears hard and brittle, really no excuse for this when there are many outdoor plastics that are very tough, pliable, and UV resistant. The directions were not exactly clear - too a bit to figure out but got it done. The issue is when you buy the metal poles they slip inside the rolling mechanism. I will need to figure our something to prevent it from slipping. The plastic is good and heavy. We have a 16 x 32 indoor pool and this works fine - even with the issues.

I wouldn't recommend this product. I ended up keeping it but I had to improvise to make it work. Here are the examples of the engineering screw ups. 1. The 54000 pole does not work with this reel system without modification. There are 4 grooves on the pole but the roller hub that accepts the pole does not have anything inside that will lock it in place to be able to spin it. To solve this I had to drill two holes opposite each other to screw the hub to the pole. PRE-DRILL PRE-DRILL a must so you don't crack the plastic. 2. The rollers/axles do not lock into place. Moving the reel stands around will knock them loose. One of mine fell between the deck boards whole I was trying to set it in place. I'll probably tape them in place somehow so I don't lose any more of them. 3. The screws you get are not self-tapping screws! You'll need to predrill holes into the poles to attach the straps or to attach the poles together.
