Great For The Price
Works great for small applications - or at least what I think is pretty small. Heated oil to deep fry in a 8qt ish size pot. Got the oil plenty hot enough for my needs - fried up some egg rolls nice and even. Cooled down pretty quick and easy to clean. Easy dial, not fancy and if you have a thermometer, you will be fine. Lightweight and portable.

Affordable, Portable, Powerful and Great Value.
The Techwood Hot Plate Portable Electric Stove is a fantastic little appliance that delivers excellent value for the price. I’ve purchased several of these over the years, and overall, they’ve been a reliable and convenient addition to my kitchen at home and events. First off, the performance is impressive. Comparable to commercial electric stove. With 1500 watts of power, this hot plate heats up quickly and provides consistent cooking temperatures. The adjustable temperature control works well, allowing me to fine-tune the heat for everything from simmering sauces to boiling water. The compact and portable design is another big plus. It’s lightweight and doesn’t take up much space, making it perfect for small kitchens or even cooking for events in tights spaces. The stay-cool handles are a thoughtful addition, making it safe and easy to move the hot plate around, even when it’s been in use for a while. However, I’m giving this product 4 stars instead of 5 because of its durability. While most of the units I’ve purchased have worked well, one or two had a shorter lifespan than expected. They stopped functioning properly after about a year of regular use, which was a bit disappointing. That said, the majority of them have held up just fine, and for the price, I still think it’s a great deal. Overall, the Techwood Hot Plate is a solid choice for anyone looking for an affordable, portable, and efficient cooking solution. It’s not perfect in terms of longevity, but it definitely gives you the best bang for your buck.

Great backup in an emergency or for extra cooktop.
Ordered this when anticipating an ice storm in my area. Planned to use this with my generator for cooking if power was lost. Received next day. Warmed up quickly with just a little "smell" as described in instructions. Having two burners will make preparing food much easier when in a pinch. Boil time was the same as on my home stove. Didn't need this time but I feel confident that it will meet my needs. I like the two handles that make it easy to carry. Definitely recommend this!

Heats up quickly. Boils water.
This hot plate heats up quickly. However, not quite as quickly as a full stove, but it does an excellent job when compared with other hot plates I have used. It boils water hot enough to make my kettle whistle loudly. I was concerned that the rails on the hot plate would interfere with larger sized pans, but the plate handled them with no issues. The diameter of the heating plate is right at or a little over 7 1/4 inches. This hot plate's heat is easy to regulate. Its feet set securely and evenly on the counter. (I don't know if this is possible, but some little rubbery caps on the feet bottoms would be a plus.) I needed this hot plate for the upcoming holiday cooking, and I am very happy with this purchase, so far. This plate is replacing a convection plate that just could not meet my needs -- it couldn't bring water to a boil and took forever to heat up. Not so with this Techwood plate. The box was crushed on one side, but the contents were in perfect condition.

excellent emergency use when I run out of propane for my stove
For the folks complaining about smell, IT STATES RIGHT IN THE MANUAL TO LET IT RUN BEFORE USE to work that smell off. If you actually read and follow directions, nothing is wrong with this good product.

Title: Disappointing Experience with the Techwood 1800W Portable Electric Stove
I recently purchased the Techwood 1800W Portable Electric Stove with high hopes for a convenient and efficient cooking solution, but unfortunately, my experience has been less than satisfactory. One of the major drawbacks is the inconsistent heating performance. Despite the 1800W power rating, the burners seem to struggle to reach and maintain the desired temperature. Cooking times are prolonged, and achieving even heat distribution across cookware has proven to be a challenge. This inconsistency has significantly impacted the quality of my cooking, leading to frustration and disappointment. The build quality of the electric stove also leaves much to be desired. The materials used feel flimsy, and the overall construction lacks durability. The adjustable temperature control, while present, seems imprecise and unreliable, making it difficult to achieve the desired cooking results. The stay-cool handles, advertised as a feature, don't effectively dissipate heat, posing a safety concern during use. Another issue is the limited size of the 7.5" cooktop. While it may be suitable for some basic cooking tasks, it proves impractical for larger pots and pans, restricting the versatility of the appliance. This limitation was not clearly communicated in the product description, leading to unexpected challenges in preparing meals of various sizes. Furthermore, the compatibility claim with all cookwares falls short of reality. The heating elements seem to struggle with certain materials, resulting in uneven cooking and potential damage to cookware. This lack of compatibility undermines the versatility promised by the product. In terms of portability, the Techwood Electric Stove falls short of expectations. While it's marketed as a portable solution for RVs, homes, and camps, the bulkiness and awkward design make it less convenient to transport than anticipated. The lack of a secure and compact storage solution adds to the overall disappointment. In conclusion, the Techwood 1800W Portable Electric Stove has not lived up to my expectations, and I cannot recommend it based on my experience. The issues with inconsistent heating, subpar build quality, limited cooktop size, and questionable compatibility with cookware make it a less-than-ideal choice for those seeking a reliable and versatile portable cooking solution.

I had never used a hotplate before. At first I thought it didn't work as it takes a minute to heat up, but once it does, you would think you were cooking on a stove.

Purchased this cooktop about 6 months ago.Initially I was happy with it.However, overtime, it has started to disappoint. The cooktop taking longer and longer to heat up, which makes cooking more time consuming. And now one of the burners has completely stopped working.I expected better durability and performance.Really disappointed!

Its a premium quality hot plate. I wanna use it for 6 months and again write a review. I have used techwood before , 1500 w solo plate was actually really good. I wanna try this dual burner 1800 watt , so far heats really really good. It takes few minutes to heat as the metal plate is really thick and its a very nice alloy to prevent the entire device from overheating and shorting the fuse.Once hot , its just amazing.

I loved my appliance at first when I bought it a year and a half ago and did rate it 5 stars but a few things just don’t last. The good : The Teakwood appliance looked so “sharp” on my stainless steel prep table and set-up was super easy. The cord is long enough and I have it going toward the wall and down the back of the stainless steel prep table into a “ multi plug stove power adapter” ( also from Amazon ) that accommodates this appliance but also my air fryer /convection oven too. Side Handles : great for easy moving to clean underneath ( just lift on one end ). The four feet are well made and sturdy and easy to attach the fuzzy protectors on them if needed. The heat stays in the cast iron elements for a long time which is good if you wish to turn every thing off and keep a dish simmering for a while. The elements are a good size too for bigger pots. You do have to be patient as the cast iron takes a bit longer to heat right up but it retains the heat longer ( can switch off and still have cooking continue ) They do get a little discoloured with time, but mine stayed black for a short while but quickly started to look worn. The on off switches did work well work on past and there are indicator lights that come on for each element , the click sound ( on off ) only remained working on the small element Now here is The bad : The large element click-sound was faint then disappeared and the directional diagrams around both knob wore quickly with the right element wore completely off. I make sure that I turn the dial all the way to the left and that the light goes off and I made a new directional sticker using tape but it’s pretty useless now. At least the light works ( no cover as the heat has destroyed it! ) Ease of use ease of use : very good . Value for money is good Update . Spring of 2005 The indicator light cover made a cracking sound and popped off with one piece breaking off. I tried glueing the cover back on but it continued trying to pop off again when the element was on. The light still works tho Aug 2025 : pretty fed up trying to communicate with the home company whose links they gave me don’t work for emailing the service dept . They said Amazon would be getting back to me but they never did. My emails back to the company are bring ignored Overall I’d say buy from a more reputable company and get an appliance that lasts more than a year for your money and one that doesn’t overheat and cause you to question safety, or look shabby before it’s time. There was no proper resolution from the company who said that Amazon would be contacting me but all I received was an email with a one question survey ( did the manufacturer resolve the issue ? ) no further help or offer to replace the faulty unit or at least help me get a better quality one, This was a complete waste of my time, * Sorry that this unit didn’t last and sadly it’s bound for the recycle bin!
