Review: Incredible Book. - Just shows you how much attention to details was put in this show ever since day one. This book is amazing and a treat for fans of the show. The multiple Emmy winning costume design is one of the things that made Game of Thrones so unique, and this book highlights this in a very nice way. This book feels very high-quality and looks great, and could serve as a nice gift for fans of the show. I would also recommend the other two books, of the Art and the Photography, they serve as a very nice collection which again highlights how much effort was put in this incredible show. We shall never see it's like again.

Fabulous Costume Reference
This is a really great book. I’m a GoT fan and celebrant offering costumed and themed ceremonies, so I got the book to be pretty much screen-accurate when I reproduce the costumes. This book enables me to do that, and so much more. The costume universe of GoT is laid out in detail. Each colour decision, each subtle reference (one character to another) is documented in fascinating depth. Even if you couldn’t care less about the costumes themselves, the stories about the way that each character’s traits are literally woven into their kit is compelling. The illustrations and photographs are comprehensive, detailed and well-reproduced. If you’re looking for a down-side, there are a few characters who aren’t here. No Maisters, no Three-Eyed Raven, no Dead (except for the Night King and his lieutenants) and no Reeds, for example. Some of these are mentioned in the text but obviously it’s the main characters that the book concentrates on. I’d love for there to be a Volume 2.

Beautiful Images and creative storytelling for each outfit
I thought this might be the book out of the three that I least liked because it was all about the costumes but I loved this book! It is a huge heavy slab of an encyclopedia, and it covers the book characters and the individual looks created for them. I had no idea that the costumes told such a story. After a colour scheme and selection of material were chosen for ie the people in the North, the designer then looked at each character. It was explained how for example Sansa began as the girl who wanted to be a princess and queen, dressing better than her sister then copying Cersei at King's Landing, wearing her hair in the southern style as she tried to be a lady. It then explains her changing costumes as her life goes through changes-the death of her family, learning from Littlefinger, marrying Ramsay, becoming Lady of Winterfell and Queen in the North. A story appears giving a reason for the dragonflies on her dress, every bead and piece of jewellery-every single stitch and clasp has a meaning and it was fascinating to read this for each character. I'll never look at the costumes the same way and I'm amazed at the amount of thought that went into each outfit.

beautiful and fascinating
One more for the hardcore fans I suppose but this is a beautifully illustrated and presented book, printed on very high quality paper and featuring stunning photographs. The sheer detail of the costumes will astound you, the stunning production values that made GoT (Season 8 notwithstanding!) the best thing on TV really come through here. It's a pretty expensive volume but worth the money.

Beautiful AND deadly.
Hefty enough to kill a Lannister at thirty paces or brain a Dothraki at a truly exceptional wedding, the book is a beautiful encyclopaedia of unused art, detailed close ups and the stories behind it all. There are some fold out pages, which I wasn’t expecting. AND it details shoes (I love Missandei’s). Conclusion: whether you’re interested in the actual costumes or just want to pretend to be a well armed Maester at a melee, this is The Book ™️ to invest in.

Autumn/Winter 2020 is coming!
This is an enormous, heavy book packed with thousands of pictures of GoT costumes, as well as close-up shots of all the tiny, intricate details. As with LoTR, there is so much more to see than could ever be glimpsed on screen. Costume designer Michele Clapton shares many of her initial sketches, explains the ideas behind some of the outfits, and even goes into detail about the construction process for some garments. Like the series itself, this book is truly epic!

This is not paperback. It is a very large and heavy fist class hardcover. Almost every page has full color, full page glossy clear photos of each costume. Many sorted by the main characters. Included are some concept sketches. Even the embroidery and jewelry have wonderful closeups. Not to fear boots, shoes scabbards and other accoutrements are depicted. A must have for GOT, LOTR, and Medieval fans.

A very beautiful 450 page, hard cover coffee table book featuring gorgeous pictures, costume renderings and studio shots. Here are some of my thoughts: Pros: • A very high-quality coffee table book with a hard bound cover and dust cover • Beautiful studio shots with lots of closeup details and many of Helen Sloan's on set stills to use in comparison • A large array of Michele Clapton's costume designs and renderings including some early concepts. Many of these have never been seen before • A great selection of many stand-out minor costumes, many pictures never seen before • A nice introduction by Clapton herself • Some mention of techniques and fabrics • Two double fold out sections Cons: • A very heavy weight put on later seasons costumes (especially S7 and S8) - even on the cover - to the exclusion of costumes from seasons 1, 2 and 3. • Many costumes from key characters excluded • Varys and Mel in particular have only a few costumes featured • Little mention of the sources and craftspeople except for a thank you at the back of the book. • Largely weighted with images probably about 2/3 pictures to 1/3 copy • None of the costumes from Season 6 – the ones designed by April Ferry - are included in the book. Sansa’s BOTB’s costume for instance. • Both House Frey and House Tarley are both omitted. Edmure Tully and Brynden Tully are also missing. Very little on Essos including Daario Naharis and the second sons, the Slave Masters, The Qarth 13, Quaithe, Jaqen H'ghar Costume CO

A truly well thought through book. Presentation is by House and incorporates most of the players. I used this book for sewing inspiration and I found much more than I bargained for! The photos are brilliant and the drawings clear giving an insight to the designers ideas. If you became a GOT fan and loved the costumes then this book is a treasure to be read over and over. It ooozes talent to the point of sheer genius.
