Water Story proves this thing works.
Installed this a few years ago and i was at work this past week and i got a phonecall on my cellphone. It was the wateralarm calling with a voice telling me a water emergency has been detected. Worked perfect. Called home sure enough the sensors i split of off the mains by the sump pump led to the waterheater and the tank had burst. Puddle of water. This would have leaked all day and even longer before anyone would have gone down into the basement. The unit called my phone three times before i went to my notes on my phone on how to cancell the alarm. It was "1" followed by "#" on the keypad and it didnt call anymore. The sensor had been taken out of the water at this point. Proof is in the pudding and this did what it was designed to do flawlessly. Glad I bought this.

Simple to setup and test
I purchased this to monitor my sump pump to make sure it continues to work, and if there is a failure to alert me via phone. The unit is easy to setup and test. It does require reading the directions to understand how to enter the alert phone number and make a decision about what the four dip switch settings should be. Once the Dialer enters into an alarm state it requires entry of a cancel code when the call is received, or a call back to the Dialer phone number to cancel the alarm state. this requires some thought so the Dialer does not get in the way of an answering machine, and the manual offers a way to do so. I didn't give it 5 stars because the setup could have been a little more friendly, and it would have been nice if it was designed to be more flexible to different scenarios for mounting the device. These likely get installed in a basement with concrete and pipes around and a simple velcro strap affixed to the back of the device would have made it easy to simply strap it to something.

problem with it,
as silly as this may sound, it would have helped to have pointed out very clearly that it has to be place somewhere very close to a phone line jack!! I don't know why I couldn't figure out that when it mentioned calling phone, I guess I thought it was wireless....not able to use it in our home, didn't open it until too late to return, my fault, wish I had known before ordering. Feel bad with the 3 stars but can't really use to give a working opinion

Disappointed and Annoyed
I bought it because of a crisis with a malfunctioning sump pump -- and paid extra for expedited delivery. Neither my brother, a mechanical and electrical engineer, nor I could get it to function. It was supposed to dial a programmed phone number to signal the presence of water on the floor, but did not work. When my brother, who lives near my residence in Ohio, was unable to make it function, I was obliged to make a special trip to Cincinnati, Ohio, from Falls Church, Virginia, to have the sump system serviced.

Does not work with magic jack. Says it at the manufacture web site.
Pretty disappointed that this doesn't work with magicjack. Doesn't say anywhere in the description that it doesn't. I went on the manufacture website after I couldn't get it to work and it said there it doesn't work with magicjack. Seems like a pretty good product. Had to send it back.

Works great
I put a few of these in different locations in the house. I have one near my sump pump (which has an electric pump and a water siphon backup), one by the water heater, one by the laundry room, and one by the water line to the fridge. I haven't had a leak yet, but a simple test of closing the contacts on the sensors works great. Programming was very easy and adds a piece of mind.

peace of mind
I bought this because I have had issues with sewer backups causing problems in my basement. This product is well made and easy to set up. One thing I like about this unit is you can easily connect multiple sensors to the alarm if you want to monitor multiple areas. The only con I have with this is the alarm that sounds is very quiet. That is the only reason I removed a star from the review.

Works with a cell phone
I needed a water monitoring device for a remote location that did not have a land line. I mated this with the Cobra Phonelynx and it works like a charm. Very impressed with the simplicity of this device. I am using google voice to enable this phone to dial several people at once, as it can only dial one number if it detects water. It will call numerous times until the alarm is acknowledged by pressing "#1" - just answering the call will not reset the alarm - which is a good thing.
