Product Description Review: Good units - Bough these to replace older Scala units, just need them for satnav and intercom, good job I don't need them for the radio function. The speaker leads are so long that you need to fold the speaker cable in half to tuck it away in the head liner, and of course the headphone cable is also the FM aerial, so useless as the aerial is not functional. Why cant someone get a DAB radio installed using the external part as the aerial? Cars have DAB radios fitted and in a few years FM will be disbanded similar to analogue TV aerial, so if you do use the FM radio function, this will be going very soon. Happy with the units, my older Scala had a screw fitting to attache the unit to the helmet, 2 plastic jaws and tightened with 2 small allan bolts, these units have a U clamp, but having said that when you slide the clamp between the helmet and liner it is very tight and I have bee at high speeds with this on and has not moved at all, so very happy about that. Intercoms' are very good, very good range, very clear at speed over 100moh, very clear, very happy. Good power holding, have used the intercoms' for over 8 hours on and off one day, looked at the mobile app and still have over 60% of power left, very impressed. Easy to set up my Android phone and TomTom satnav, no issues at all. Bit pricey but you get what you pay for, so all in all very happy apart from the FM radio function. Review: Now I've got to listen to the drivel my pals are spouting! - This product is excellent! The sound quality is so good and the functionality is brilliant! It is so easy to set up for group rides, it cuts out the noise of your mates antisocial pipes, you can listen to music and satnav with no issues. You can mute that one idiot that can't shut up, speak to your wife whilst pretending you're not out for a hoon with the lads and it cancels all other noise! The unit does not cancel out wind noise or the sound of your own bike however. The range is not quite as far as advertised, but I've not tried to daisy chain more than 3 riders. A mate has one of those trendy full face but visorless helmets, if one of your mates turns up with one, tell him to go back home and put a proper lid on, the wind noise is ridiculous! Or just mute him like I do and use finger gestures :D The voice commands are hit and miss for my mate, but he has still failed to grasp the Queens/Kings English as he's from Cumbria, I on the other hand have had no issues! There are plenty of useful commands and I rarely have to physically touch the unit whilst riding. The buttons are quite small and it's virtually impossible to turn the unit on in winter gloves once you are on the move. Apart from the few niggles, a great piece of kit.

Great product (kinda)
Overall I am impressed with the cardo pactalk slim JBL edition, compared to other speaker systems for motorbike helmets this has an unreal sound quality, it doesn't ring and buzz at all which is fantastic. The speakers themselves don't impact my ability to put on the helmet either when I wear a balaklava. If I don't it tends to roll the ears a bit but it can be easily rectified with a bit of a twisting motion to pull the ears loose. As for the quality, it doesn't fidget, the tight fit into the helmet is really good. It sits flush to the bottom left rim and the battery is at the back attached in a similar fashion so no issues there. The mesh network communication is clear and long. Moment you have too many bends between you and the other rider though you tend to lose a bit of connectivity, however it automatically comes back when they get in range again. On the straight you can easily get about 800m range which is fantastic. Where I found the issues was with the charge port. After charging the unit about 10 times the charge port came loose and the unit stopped charging. I tried again with a different charger and the port came out completely, seeing the inside of it, the port seems to be attached by very little solder, so if your charger doesn't go in and out smoothly you may find yourself with the same issue. As a workaround I have put in a magnetic charger and I simply leave it in. I am also very careful on pulling out the cable. Amazon have sent a replacement and haven't had issues since. But fantastic unit for sound quality.

Best unit they’ve made yet, and sound is leaps and bounds better!
I’ve wanted this for ages for the DMC and voice activation, the system works faultlessly via voice controls while on the bike, sound is more defined and generally a pleasure to have in my lid. I have a Shuberth C3 Pro, which means I had to use the sticky mount....... Easy! Clean mounting point with the alcohol wipe and slap it on! I did leave it overnight before attaching the unit and trying out on the bike. A 2nd sticky mount would have been handy as I had to mount quite far back to clear the internal sun visor mechanism, but wants on you never have to touch the unit, the voice activation is that good! 👍 Have it paired via Bluetooth with an older G4 for the missis lid, pairing was easy and intuitive. All in all a great of kit for music, satnav and the intercom

Battery is better than expected and all worka
So I've purchased this for me and my brother. (He's between bikes fir the next couple of weeks) I've tested this for phone calls, Bluetooth connection to another brand comms (interphone V8), radio, voice commands, music from phone. Voice commands: They work great if; you know the exact command eg "hey cardo, next track" instead of next song or skip. NB sometime I need o put on an English accent for it to work as my Irish accent is very strong. Mic - I've set up with the snake mic as I have a modular lid (caberg duke 2) - it works PERFECTLY. - tested at (̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶a̶b̶o̶v̶e̶)̶ the national speed limit. There was no wind noise and my voice came through clearly both during phone calls and using comms setting. This is due to built in software that actually works. JBL Speakers. - I mean... people have described these as a game changer. I wouldn't say that, however they are noticeably better than any other comms iv ever had in a helmet. They are clear for music, calls, comms at low speeds. At high speeds they auto increase volume and shockingly are still clear even with wind noise. Have tested in motorway with and without earugs and no issues at all. I could still hear a joe rogan podcast clearly at 70mph. Never been able to with any other speakers. The only button I use on the actual device is the wheel, and that's just because its easier to find the right volume using that than using the voice command multiple times. I cant do a range test on cardo to cardo yet but will update review once bros bike arrives. Install took about 20 mins including firmware update and removal of old comms system. Very pleased with purchase and hope to keep for many years to get moneys worth. Edit: so the bro's bike arrived months ago and I forgot to update. Together we've probably done 4-5 thousand miles together between short trips and some longer adventures. AND a third rider who also got this. I can't recommend these enough the DMC mode is brilliant. Range has probably been tested up to about 7-800m in a straight line and it was all good. The second you go round a bend say on a mountain road they drop and then reconnect again when in view. Battery life is really good on mine but my bros always has the warning long before mine. We think this is because he listens to music at the same time. Tip: use ear plugs and highest volume and you will hear the other rider at any speed and you won't blow out your eardrums

New review and retraction of previous statement
So let me be clear. The review left yesterday was a knee-jerk (with the emphasis on "jerk") reaction to a thing I have been wanting for months and waiting for for weeks to arrive only to be told by the Swedish postal service the day before that they had no idea where it was. Not a reflection on the seller who did a great job of chasing up the whereabouts of my Cardo PackTalk Bold dual pack. And it arrived. Albeit with a hole in the envelope so I'm guessing someone, somewhere wondered what I had bought and felt they were at liberty to take a closer look. Let me be clear – service from the seller... Great! Now onto the actual thing itself. I have never owned a motorcycle comms unit, even though I have been riding bikes for over 30 years. But my wife is taking her test soon and here in Sweden, I am allowed to accompany her as an instructor. With our long term plan being able to go on motorcycle vacations together, a comms system was going to be important. And having tried the "ear-buds band-aided into ears" approach (along with microphone jammed uncomfortably between face and helmet cheek pads), a proper system was in order. Cue several hours watching review videos on "da Choob". The clincher for me was RyanF9's 5-way comparison battle between Cardo and Sena (Thank you Ryan and FortNine). Pretty much every video I had seen put Cardo slightly ahead but Ryan is nothing if not brutally honest about any shortcomings of motorcycle-related items he reviews. Check out FortNine's YouTube channel. You can thank me later. Out of the box, everything was there except for the USB charger cable's plug. But it's just a standard USB charger plug so... meh. Installation of the unit, the JBL headphones and the microphone were a little fiddly. This is in no way the fait of Cardo's design but more because getting the various bits out of a full-face race-graded Suomy helmet is not easy. Also, because of the design of the helmet inner, Cardo's suggested placement of the speakers does not actually correspond to where my ears actually are – the cavity in the Suomy is actually behind my ears (allowing space for the arms of sunglasses i guess) – my ears are actually partially covered by the back edge of the cheek pads. So that's where the speakers are now located, held in place by the velcro backing on the cheek pad material cover. Nowhere else for me to attach them. Microphone went in place as easy as pie, as did the mounting for the unit itself on the outside left of the helmet. Again, because of the design of the Suomy bucket, there was some jiggery-pokery in getting cables to lie in unobtrusive places but some persistence paid off. With everything in place, I powered it up and, sitting at the kitchen table, put on my helmet. The voice recognition functions are great. Watch Cardo's installation video on YouTube and even with that in mind, you'll be amazed how easy this thing is to control. Paired up to my phone I had Alter bridge blaring in my ears inside a minute and "Hey Cardo..." worked a treat. Volume up, down, next track, previous track and so on. Made a phone call, ended call, played more music. Bingpot! I took it for a quick road test and it still works great. The position of the headphones is enough to slightly reduce wind noise and when playing music, it's amazingly clear. When combined with ear plugs to further reduce wind noise you do lose some of the top end but that's inevitable. After all, what is wind noise if not an overload of top end? But it did not cover the sound of a 996cc Desmosedici engine which, if you're a Ducatisti, you'll appreciate. The only thing I've not yet done is actually test out the comms bit. But then, the wife is away until Tuesday and there's no point in fitting the second pack to her helmet until I know where her ears are (if you get my meaning). DL/DR Summary: Great sound quality (so far), slightly expensive but so far absolutely worth it. The pocket guide is not that easy to follow and the manual controls are convoluted and confusing so go and take a look at the YouTube tutorial and relax in the splendour of voice commands.

Good product, does its job, but not worth money paid
I used this item for a week and have to say that as a technology it did its job. Overall I was satisfied maybe I'm being biased because of the scenic views I've seen in Swiss Alps. These are the good things I have to highlight about Cardo: - 10 hours plus of non stop speaking (no turning off) - quick charging - waterproof for sure (three hours under the non stop rain) - radio wave range is pretty impressive, it can easily reach another rider even if it's 500m in between you on the straight line but when you are amidst mountains 100-200 meter max. These are the bad things I found about it: - it's too smart (tries to switch to DMC mode all the time) it's annoying when you keep the phone in the back pack and you cannot hear the rider and you have to stop and fix it. - built quality - I'm surprised how this item can be waterproof, because, rubber plug for USB socket never stays snug inside the socket, small touch and it falls out. Other parts like speakers and mic are rubbish. - software isn't good (upgrades aren't easy and straightforward it took quite a long time to upgrade it on my laptop, online website isn't easy and looks from 90s, it's hard to find information you need, UX of mobile app could have been better). The last pain point for me was the fact that on the fourth day riding it refused to connect with another cardo item and I couldn't do any types of resets, event factory reset. I downloaded manual tried a few times still didn't work. Weighting all pros and cons above I realised paying £280 isn't worth it. You know if you want to get a decent quality radio your choice is going to be either Sena or Cardo. I get that, however, paying such money wouldn't be wise. I had Cardo SMARTH (bought for £100) and it performed exactly the same.

Pretty damn good despite initial struggles
Pretty good sound quality and overall quality of the unit. My main problems with it were regarding fitment - the back of the unit was protruding well into the base of the helmet (gt-air) even when using the small clamp and when putting on and especially pulling the helmet off - the plastic unit would stab me in the neck (not a pleasant experience). I did muscle the clamp as far back as possible and now this initial problem is pretty much non-existant. The other fitment issue I had was regarding the placement of the speakers, which I think most people will have as well - this is my first Comms systems I not sure if expected, but the speakers need to be exactly against your ears for the best experience and that did take a few attempts to achieve. Sound quality is amazing - I always wear earplugs and I can listen to music even at motorway speeds. Calls are quite good as well - talking while in city happens without a fuss, the person on the other side can also hear me clearly (have not tried on motorway, but I expect the wind noise to be a bit of a problem).

Casi perfecto

No volvere a comprar otro.

My first comm unit and I lvoe it.
I just invested in my first full face helmet and bought this comm unit to go with it, thanks to a friends advice. I am using it with an Iphone 12 and it works great. I can hear my music very well and clear. I can use siri and Cardo's own voice commands very easily up too 120 kph where then my helmet gets a bit of wind noise. Then it still works half of the time. Those people hear complaining about it being too quiet should check their phones settings first. My iPhone was initially limited so it was too quiet until I fixed that in the settings. Anyway, very happy with this purchase,
