Canon Grip EG-E1 - just the right amount of extension without going overboard.
When I received the Canon RP camera, I loved the form factor. Since I have medium to large hands, I then began searching the web for optional grips that would be just right. The web was loaded with dozens of external battery grips, thus making the RP almost twice the size, and didn't want that. I then came across this delightful Canon Extension Grip EG-E1 - in particular, the one with the red accents. So I ordered it. Talk about the perfect, functional grip that adds just the right amount of heft to the camera without going overboard! It should be noted that you will first have to remove the battery door from the RP, which is quite easy, as there is a lever you depress and it comes right off. The reason you have to do that is because the EG-E1 grip has a battery door on it and some other extenders that fit inside the camera battery well area (where the original door was). Then it's just a matter of screwing the grip in - and all functions superbly. Now be sure to then place the camera battery door in a small baggie or something, and put it somewhere where you won't lose it. Now, is it worth almost $100? Well no, because it's also made from heavy duty plastic. But it's nicely designed - just right. Unfortunately, at least from what I've noticed, there are no 3rd party versions similar to this for less. So for now, I'm giving this the full 5 stars.

Great Extension Grip for Small and Medium Hands
I was skeptical whether I would order this extended grip for my brand new Canon EOS RP or settle with the normal size of the camera. The price of this product is not cheap, but the qualities are sufficient to meet my needs. I have a medium hands and the small grip of the RP is not enough for my taste; furthermore, the Canon extended grip add some girth and weight to the camera. This is a great product originally made for the Canon RP. It is made in Taiwan and the built quality is solid and durable. If you have large hands, the Canon RP is not the right camera and consider getting a larger frame. This grip works well!

Pricey but worth if for large hands
Expensive, but worth it. I've got large hands and this grip makes the EOS R8 much more comfortable to hold.

Nice upgrade
I enjoy the extension on the camera body. It makes it so the camera fits my hand and I can move it well. The difference in bulk is negligible when the camera has a lens mounted on it.

Buy this, not a battery grip
I bought a Canon R8 and it’s a little smaller than I'm used to. I’m a big guy with big hands, and not that the R8 isn’t useable (it is, I used to have an SL2 which was similar size), but I picked this grip extender up for two reasons. First off, it is more comfortable to hold, 100%. It brings the height up to the same as a standard DSLR (it’s comparable to my Canon 90d). It feels good in the hand, much more natural. The quality is great and it fits the camera like a glove. The second reason is both aesthetics and functionality. The R8 is basically an R6mkii in a smaller package, but I feel like it looks a little more like a serious camera with the extender. It’s counter-intuitive, but let’s face it, people see bigger and think more expensive therefor more pro. However, It’s not all about the vanity of it, it’s also practical. I thought about getting a battery grip that would hold two batteries, and if I bought third party it would be less money for a “better” grip. The issue with that is the SD card shares the battery slot, I’d have to take a battery grip off anytime I wanted to swap cards. And 3rd party gear is VERY hit or miss. But this extender has its own battery hatch allowing for it to be a permanent fixture and allow full functionality. Yes, this grip extender IS overpriced. $70 feels expensive to make your camera a little taller. And I can’t believe a 3rd party hasn’t conquered this need yet. That being said, I do not regret the purchase and I think if you have the smaller Canon R cameras, it’s worth biting the bullet and getting one of these.

Perfect, but not?
I hate that i even had to purchase this. I almost felt they should have just make the camera a little taller. However it's a great little piece that I'm glad is only modular. I put in on when taking photos. it allows me to grip like any pro dslr. When shooting video this comes off and i'm usually cradleing the camera by the lens and this extension gets in the way. theres a little whether sealing for some reason. nice touch. comes on and off in about 6 seconds. It ought to cost 50$ . It's missing a place to hold the removed battery door like all other canon battery grips provide. Still gets 5 stars

Nice piece but a bit overpriced.
This is a good extension that makes the body look and feel less like a toy. I didn't particularly like paying $80 for it but, the build quality and appearance are nice.
