Plenty of power, low maintenance and long lasting.
Lasko makes a sturdy fan that moves a lot of air, but beware if noise is an issue.I ordered this fan August 29 2010, Since it arrived it has been running at low speed during the day when I am awake and high speed when I sleep at night. Thats almost 5 years of non stop use and this fan still works as well as the day I received it.If you want power, this fan has it in spades, the high setting really puts out some air, and while I'm not sure of exact numbers I know that it can make a tent out of my fairly heavy blankets. The fan is not a quiet one although the low setting is perfectly comfortable for me to sit in front of all day. When you crank this baby up to high though it gets really loud, for someone like me who needs white noise to sleep during the day this is a plus, but it could be a deal breaker for some. The overall construction is very sturdy, but there are a few weak points. The fan comes with little plastic stablizing legs that fit into the back and keep the fan level if you use it anywhere that isn't a window, these pieces work well but they do come loose or break rather easily so be mindful of that. Also the carry handle for the fan isn't the strongest, mine broke off two years ago, but thats still almost 3 years of fairly heavy use, so I can't really complain. As for the most important parts the motor, blades, guards and power knob are all still fully intact nearly 5 years later!Lasko really makes a quality product with this fan, if you don't mind noise you won't be disappointed.

It's powerful. Like fans used to be. I was "blown" away (Sorry).
I realized years ago that fans made in China are useless. Flimsy plastic blades at a slight angle that are useless. I started buying antique fans and having them rewired. Those made before 1970 are best. The blades are metal and are angled enough to move air rapidly. They have very powerful motors and last, literally, forever. This can be very costly, but at least I wasn't throwing money away. However, they didn't make large box fans and I needed one.I read in another review that this fan is American made and price was very low so I ordered one.I LOVE THIS FAN. Here's why. There's nothing flimsy about it. It has 3 speeds. The lowest speed is far more powerful and than most fans available today on their highest setting for twice the cost and it's quiet. Medium is good if you really want to cool things down in a hurry, it's louder, but you can hear the tv without cranking the volume. High can almost move furniture. It's loud, but if you need that setting, you must be using for an industrial purpose like to dry polyurethane or making a wind tunnel.I highly recommend this fan.One more thing, when I first opened the box and turned it on, on low, there was a slight "rattle". I then ran it for a few minutes on high speed and returned to the lower speed and the rattle was gone. I've used it daily for about 2 months and haven't heard a rattle or any other bad noise from it. If you do, I'd suggest "breaking it in" with a few minutes on high.

Quality control issues....something hits when the fan rotates
I bought 4 of these fans to put in my windows to move air through my house as it cools in the evening. Three of the four make ticking noises as the blade turns. Something is bubbing as the fan blade goes around. There's nothing visible so it appears to be in the fan mechanism. I'll be going to the hastle of returning 3 of my fans and am very frustrated that I have to go to this extra work. I've purchased these fans before and all has been good. Quality control has obviously slipped recently because they're letting some bad fans ship now.8/16/13 Update: Several weeks later these fans still squeak/tick to it's not going away. I tried rotating them but the only position where they don't make noise is facing straight down. I'm throwing them away and buying new from a different brand than Lasko.

Lasko Premium Box Fan
This review is actually for the fan I ordered on July 10th,2011,but for some reason Amazon said that fan was ineligible for review, even though I got the fan on July 12th.In any case,it's the same make and model number,it's just that the fans were ordered about 3 weeks apart. This review is for the 1st one I ordered. As I said,I received this fan on July 12th and started using it that very same day.I had to order a new fan because our old fan{a Hunter fan}finally stopped working. We'd had it for several years and never had any problems with it,so it was time to get a new one.Hunter evidently doesn't make these type fans anymore{I checked their website}and didn't see any.So I checked on Amazon to see what they had.The Lasko fans seemed to get good reviews{even though I'd never heard of them before}and they were made in this country too.First of all,I had to find out just what these fans were called -- I had always called them floor fans.Turned out they are called box fans.Amazon had several models and I was going to get Lasko's least expensive model.I went on the Lasko website to check the models there.Turned out their least expensive model looked on the thin side,so I decided to get their 'premium' model{which was wider}.Let me say here that this was BEFORE I found out that Lasko's box fans come with two plastic feet that you attach to them on the back of the fans so they won't tip over.So this is something you don't have be concerned about. The fan I got was a 20-inch that had an improved grill on it to improve air flow{they say it improves air flow by 30% -- any advantage I can get is good}!And it was only $2.00 more than their least expensive model,so that was good too.The fan however was not like our old Hunter box fan.Our old fan was wider{almost 6 inches}where as the Lasko fan was 4 inches. Our old fan had 7 blades, where as the Lasko fan has 5 blades. Our old fan did have a plastic grill on it and plastic blades as well -- same as the Lasko fan{the housing on both fans are made of metal}.However,as far as air flow is concerned,I can't tell any difference{the Lasko fan might even put out a little more -- you DO have to allow for improved air flow for these new fans because of improved designs}.The one thing I DIDN'T want was a fan that had a thermostat on it -- I simply wanted a fan I could turn ON or OFF when I needed to.This fan also has a simple low, medium and high setting on it -- just what I was looking for. This fan has been running every day since I got it back on July 12th{almost a month ago}and there has been no problems with it and it has been great!Definitely keeps you cool! Can definitely recommend this fan!

BEST FAN EVER ! FOR THE PRICE !
Pros : Good Fan Wider Body then the 3733 for sure 30% more air flow then the 3733 also its weather shield as the 3720 is its the same fan just don't say weather shield on it. the blade set is better then what's on the 3733 its a lot of thicker and break resistance and more pitched as well for better air flow. the motor is an isolated worry free window use motor same as the one that says weather shield.Cons : None unless you got one that was DOA or bent or messed up but that's only because of the ups or FedEx other than that none.Final thought : buy this one if your looking for a good cheap modern fan that will last you a lot longer then the 3733 its worth it.No worrying : There is nothing to worry about these are the better ones of the cheap fans and they have fuse plugs so they don't catch fire that was the whole reason why by law they had to start the fuse .. so you can use it without worrying about it.. unless you got a defective one .. so the bottom line is buy this fan ...

Works well - but...
7/1/15 Update: Again compared this model to the 19.99 version, both together and one by one. On highest fan setting this model was ever so slightly quieter than that costing much less. No discernable difference at low and medium settings. The difference was so minimal to be nearly non-existent, but yet can be marketed as quiet because it is ever so little quieter. The 19.99 model seemed to move just as much air, if not slightly more (?). If in need of another, I would purchase the 19.99 model as the near $20 extra for this model is simply a waste. To be fair, most similar models from all manufacturers would receive the same negatives. This unit does it's job, and is somewhat quieter than other Lasko models (as tested side by side). It of course is far from quiet - merely quieter. The near doubling of cost is a personal choice when purchasing based on noise versus dollars, as the unit is not manufactured more sturdily. While fine for everyday household use, most materials are a cheap plastic and metal surround is tinny in nature. It should also be noted that while quieter, this model seems to blow at a slower velocity than the standard. Is it possible they are using a weaker/slower motor to promote this models quietness and at same time nearly double retail cost? $35 for an item that in all likelihood costs $3 - $5 to manufacture is a great margin. All this said, it is a good product that performs sufficiently well for the just over 1,000 sq ft space I am using it in.

Moves a lot of air
I love this fan! It moves a lot of air. At higher speeds it is a bit noisy, but I like the white noise for sleeping. I usually don't use it at high speed though; low and medium move more than enough air for my needs. It is sturdy and has given me no problems. Even after being on for 2-3 days at a time, the motor doesn't warm up, which is a great sign. It is pretty big and fits comfortably into a window. On cooler nights and mornings I use to it cool down the apartment without having to resort to using the a/c. It isn't very heavy so it is easy to move it around to the room where I need it. The only issue I have is that I wish the cord was a bit longer than 5 feet. I am seriously considering buying another, since this has been such a great buy!

Nice economic fan
As summer approaches I decided to get another fan to help keep cool. So far this fan seems like a good fan for the money. Obviously, it's very basic and has no bells or whistles, just low, medium, and high speeds. What it does do is move a decent amount of air just like a good fan should. When it's on low it's actually very quite, while on med and high settings it does make a bit of noise. Of course, if you like some white noise in the background (like I do when I sleep) then this shouldn't be a problem. It comes with two plastic feet that you can slide on the back to help give it a bit of stability. Without the feet it's about 4.5 inches wide. The feet add another 2.5 inches when installed. I actually have taken the feet off and sit it in the window sill to pull cool air in during the evening and cool down the house. It sits just fine on the window and doesn't get unstable even without the feet (though of course it is also leaning a bit against the window).Overall, I think for the money this is a good fan and would recommend it if you just need a basic fan to move some air.

Minor damage , didn't affect anything other than the look.
Power Plug on the bottom out of the way unlike others that have the cord coming out the middle .I use with 20 inch MER-13 air filter and the draw is fine even on lowest speed. have had it on 24/7 for a month now.I recommend.

Itโs exactly what it says.
Itโs exactly what I was looking for: a box fan with multiple speed settings for which Iโll use to improve airflow in my apartment.

Powerful yet quick decline due to poor quality parts
Perfect condition for first week of use. Quickly started to wobble and vibrate across the floor as the blade is not secured fully. Used on low speed for another week before the blade began to dislodge and strike the frame each rotation.Received money back due to deficient product.

Works well
Very good product

Runs fine
Works great with my carbon filter. I just use the natural air force to keep it on there and filtering. Easy DIY air filtration. Price is a bit high though as the same fan can be purchased at a department store for significantly less
