I like it, but I thought that could be more ...
I like it, but I thought that could be more sturdy, the aluminium it's fine, not very thick, the pan is very lighter. It's been fine since I don't use it very often. It's the best for making sweet caramelised pop corn.

Real popcorn, homemade
This is one of those ‘it does what is says on the box’ Used it last night. Great popcorn, rinse in warm soapy water and good as new. Thank you

Very good quality!
I've used this several times, and it works really well and fast! The aluminium spreads the heat very quickly, so the corn pops quickly, and with the stirring-mechanism, all the kernels get popped without burning!

Once you pop you can't stop
Makes great pop corn. Purchased after recommendation from a cousin who has one and got to admit it's very good. It leaves very few un-popped kernels.

Much better than automatic/electric popcorn maker
Little thin and seems shaky, but actually delivers the best popcorn ever! Could have been bigger though...

It's funny, and it makes some perfect popcorns
I have nothing bad to say about the popper. The only bad thing is that a lot of popcorns will make you fat :|

I've had my Whirley-Pop for over a year now, and it's still great, use it almost every weekend. I bought the metal gear, after reading the reviews here about plastic ones breaking. Mine has held up thus far, makes great popcorn, and the product arrived quick and as described. I'd recommend!

This has got to be the best popcorn maker on the planet, or anywhere else for that matter. We love popcorn and used to drag out an old frying pan to pop it in, with mixed results. Seemed the only place to get good popcorn was at the theater but we watch all our favorite movies at home. We tried "air" poppers and healthy or not I'd rather eat an old newspaper. We contemplated an electric unit but didn't want yet another large appliance taking up counter or cupboard space and I don't like that some have teflon coating that eventually will flake off. Then came Whirley-Pop. Our first batch was made using the sample theater pack shipped with the unit. It was delicious and yes just like at the movies. For the second batch we used the usual Orville's brand popcorn and oil which produced the best results we have ever had with this brand. If you love popcorn don't waste your money and time on expensive electric poppers. Get a Whirley-Pop. It's easy to use, easy to clean and makes the best popcorn you've ever had. Just follow directions closely and do not use high heat. On our electric range we use #6 on a #1 through #10 knob scale, but I don't recommend going above #7. Begin using the stirring crank immediately and stir until the crank starts to show some resistance but do not force it ( I suspect this is how some people break the gear). By this time the popping will have begun to slow and you can remove the unit from the heat and it will finish with a few more pops. Pour out the popcorn into your favorite bowl and allow it to sit for a couple minutes. Simply wipe out the pan with a paper towel and store it for reuse. I usually wash the lid and crank mechanism using dish soap. Now making popcorn is fast, easy and delicious, I wish I had bought this a long time ago.

Fantastic. We’ve taken this on our weekly picnics in the park this summer (we used a gas camping stove we had with us) in our Covid bubble of 11 individuals. Can’t tell you how popular we were!! We began bringing paper lunch bags so we could safely share it with children who would approach our picnic area when they realized we were making fresh popcorn. It really is exceptional that even during Covid times, we could surprise and delight children in this manner. Don’t ask: we sanitized our hands and maintained social distancing by leaving the bags on a chair away from our table. :) This popcorn maker is the best because it is made with metal gears (just like the one I have owned for years). Don’t fall for the cheaper version with plastic gears. On a less important note, my old popper is a plain metal colour, whereas this one is a vibrant Ferrari red. It’s beautiful to look at too!! I have bought five of these this summer to gift. Two couples brought their poppers to Italy when they were finally able to travel home. It’s been a hit over there as well! By the way, I also had Flavacol (flavouring) to add to our batches. We also use coconut oil and Orvil R kernels. Perfect popcorn.

These really are as good as their reputation says. Buy one and see for yourself. It's easy to use, and results in better popcorn than I've ever manage through any other method. I did make one alteration to make it work even better: I drilled a bunch of small vent holes in the lid so steam could exact more easily. It's not necessary, but it makes the popcorn just a little more fluffy and airy, and less chewy that way.
