Being from the original manufacturer and MIL SPEC makes these so much better than cheaper brands.
Simply put, if you need a great can opener, the P-38 aka John Wayne as they've been called since WWII is the best for just about any can size. You can't beat it for sharpness, quality, or ease of use. This is and will always be the best value for the money when it comes to can openers. Durability of these makes any other can opener a no go. These are not only more durable, they are by far cheaper than any other household can opener. The P-51 size is for very large cans that I generally don't need this size for.

Better than a cheap opener
I have used these openers before when I was in the military and they work fine I like them better than a cheap opener that can't grip the can and fall off.

Field Opener

FOND MEMORIES
Very pleased the quality and the delivery time involved. O, do I remember using these when I was in Army Basic Training, especially out in the field. If you wanted to open any canned rations these were about the only way in which you could do it. They were also known as P-38's then, and they still call them that. They come in handy, as they are small and don't take up hardly any space and extremely portable and very study. And thank-you for including the beaded chains to go with them.

The Shelby Secret Weapon Against Sealed Goods
These little US Shelby can openers – the P-38 and its slightly bigger sibling, the P-51 – feel like they mean business. Solid stainless steel, stamped with that classic 'US Shelby Co.' mark, they're a no-nonsense pair. Forget fancy gadgets; these are the real deal. The included chains keep them handy, ready to tackle a can whether you're camping or just need a reliable opener in your kitchen drawer. They even pull double duty as a makeshift flathead in a pinch. Simple, robust, and with a touch of that old-school military vibe – these aren't just can openers, they're tiny tools built to last. I have one of these hanging off everything, my keyring, my backpack, camping gear, everything, they work and work well. Believe me, bottle openers are useless, you don't need one for opening bottles but can openers? Sure some cans have pull tops but most do not. Sure you can open a can with a knife BUT, you can also slice your hand open. These are a must if you are a prepper or into emergency supplies.

Look for just the P-51. It works and is useable. The P-38 didn't work at all for me, and the two little chains are impossible to get the beads crimped in. Guess that's why you don't see anyone using them in videos.

Dès la première utilisation le P 38 a crochis , peut-être que la canne était un peu trop grosse, pourtant c'est une canne moyenne voir sur la photo et remarquez la couleur sur les doigts il se déteignent. Le p-51 par contre 5/5
