What was HP thinking?
A sad tale: HP 5550 got this pda as an upgrade for my 5450, and i honestly want the 5450 back. I got this device, hooked it up to charge, got it to charge and used it for about 1 day, before the screen turned completely out (lines and some whiteness) and then the status lights at the top kept flashing. I believe this unit to be defective, and have decided to go back to my 5450. I now regret leaving it in the first place. It's not a bad device (5450) but i must say, that the 5550 is not recommended. If you research, you'll find tons and tons of people with the same problem. Why this was never a recalled device, is beyond me.

Out of Service Life - No Parts Available
I bought an H5550 in April this year (2008), supposedly with 12 months warranty. A week ago it failed to turn on. I borrowed a fully charged battery, tried hard reset. Tried holding power button on for one minute as advised by HP. No go. Commenced warranty claim to be told, "this product is outside its service life. There are no more parts available for it". Before you buy, search the web for customer reviews. You'll find its given HEAPS of trouble. It appears to have been the lemon of the range, often just dying like mine did. If you try to get it fixed you'll probably be told by HP - like I was - that they can't repair it.

One of the best, most versatile PDAs ever.
Consistently rave reviews from the press and users who take the time to read the manual. The ample memory, fast Intel processor, integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth along with the huge screen make this 5500 series a pleasure to use. I have gotten and used many other PDAs and now have the iPAQ 210 as well as the 5550. For most applications for my work I tend to use the 5550 due to the larger screen and the ability for me to comfortably use a foldable keyboard. It's easier to cart abound than my 17" laptop. So while it's a little more complex to use than your cell phone the features and benefits make reading the manual a fine way to pass an hour.
