Insert went it perfectly. Bout halfway in it does obviously get a little harder because of it threading itself. But the tool works perfectly and as soon as it was even with the top of the hole it was complete. Back the tool out, replaced my fairing and windshield and placed the screws in. Holding better than ever! No directions but they weren’t needed. Super simple to figure out. Plenty of YouTube videos on how to do it just in case. Entire job took me less than 30 min.

Excellent product, installation tool needs a little work. You can try using vise grips on the metal sleeve, as when I used pliers on the plastic handle, it broke. You won’t be able to get enough torque to screw in the insert by using the tool as is. After I broke the handle, I disassembled the installation tool and installed a nut (refer to photo with pen pointing to nut). I installed and tightened the nut against the sleeve to maintain the proper depth for the tool (equal to the length of the insert). Then I used a wrench at the very end to install the insert (not on the nut installed which is only to maintain proper depth). Overall I would give this 4 1/2 stars if I had the option only due to the very minor inconvenience of modifying the installation tool. I highly recommend this product. Inserts are far better than the stock press in type, which strip out. Don’t hesitate to purchase this, but be prepared to use either vise grips on the metal sleeve or remove the plastic and install a nut to maintain proper depth and use a wrench or socket at the end to install. This was what I needed to replace the insert that came loose on my fairing. The item is hard to thread into the fairing, the handle on the provided tool is not large, so it is difficult to grip. If and when I have to replace more, I will probably tap out the hole as an other reviewer had done.

Complete garbage. Weak metal. Kept breaking during install. Company makes you pay to have item returned. Don’t waste your time or money.
