Eccentric design with inadequate instructions
A bit of a head scratcher (not the knife itself --- that would be a very bad idea) when I opened the package. The knife blade isn't installed for instant use and rattles around inside the plastic casing, which is itself attached to the cardboard display material like a great white shark taking a bite from a juicy seal. Tried removing said cardboard from its gob but it just tore leaving the shark with a mouthful. There are pictorial 'instructions' on the card, which are confusing to say the least, but no words to guide the purchaser as to what to do with this thing --- presumably this is intended as a joke to confuse the entire world regardless of race, ethnicity, origin or indeed language. Anyway, moan over. Myself and partner soon realised that the knife body needs to be dismantled to release the unwelcome bit of stuck cardboard and to install the single knife blade included. A tricky operation that seems to depend mostly on luck, brute force and ignorance to get the body to open. Having now opened it several times I still can't describe, in terms understandable to any logical person, how it is achieved. Remove the errant card bit. Place the rampant blade in its most likely proper position. Then attempt to reassemble! You will need another huge dose of luck to put it back together; I have a degree in engineering and am used to dismantling, reassembling and even designing complex mechanisms but am still baffled by this knife. It's either a work of genius or the product of an insane puzzle-maker with a grudge. Once reassembled this works just like the more expensive standard Stanley knife although the blade feels a bit wobbly as there's too much play in the slot it emerges from, so it might not be suitable for precision cutting work. Still not bad for the price though. I'm still giving it 5 stars as it provided me with the bonus of an unexpected conundrum to solve. God help anyone encountering this for the first time if they've never used a Stanley knife before and don't know how they're supposed to work.

Plastic
Definitely lightweight! Very plastic. Difficult to remove safety card, difficult to attach blade, once I was able to work out how to open the 'body' of the knife to attach the blade I found it extremely difficult to reattach the body of the knife. But Once I sorted it out- it was easy to use. I bought these to help me cut 'cake cards' to the shape I wanted and it worked well. So, all in all- it is cheap feeling, nice price, for what I wanted it- it works.

GREAT BUDGET STANLEY KNIFE!
Lightweight, easy to disassemble/fit/replace blades, takes Stanley Tungsten Carbide blades, easy to grip, supplied blade razor sharp, storage space for a few spare blades in handle, light but quality build and ergonomic design. Wot's not to like?.

Plastic Stanley Knife
Does the job but feels cheap and flimsy. I bought this to replace my old metal-cased Stanley knife which was a lot more robust.

Does the job
Bargain price for a proper stanley knife. Comes with blade. Little bit of a faff to get the cardboard out to access the blade to assemble as theres no instructions and you need to slide the plastic apart (I'd only ever used metal stanley knives) same size as the metal ones but much more lightweight and more comfortable to hold. Not as sturdy but ok for general small jobs

Does exactly what you'd expect for great value
Too long, don't want to read? BUY IT For the £5 it cost me to buy this and a set of 10 blades, I was a FOOL for ever going to the bargain shop. Sturdier, much safer, better blades, better knife, better mechanism. Stanley is THE way for this product. No, they didn't pay me to say that, but if they are reading this and want to, they are more than welcome cause I'll tell everyone how fantastic these knives are. There's a reason everyone just calls this product a Stanley knife, even if Stanley don't make every one in the world.

Cheap and nasty stanley knife
I bought this as the price was attractive and Stanley are normally a reliable brand, so why they have put their name on this piece of junk is beyond me. The instructions are terrible and it took me ages to work out how to open the body to access the blade. That was easy in comparison to trying to put it back together again. I even swallowed my pride and asked my carpenter son if he could work it out -he gave up after 15 minutes saying his time was too valuable to mess about with this junk! Having persevered and finally reassembled it the true nastiness reveals itself as the blade is like a jelly. There is no way I can use this on any tough job so looks like its destined for the pencil box.
