Coast Redwood

My tree was packaged really well and arrived in perfect condition. Looks very healthy. I planted it right away and am hoping it does well. Second picture is 8 months later and it’s doing great! Third photo is after having it for 11 months, I can’t believe how healthy and well it’s growing. I love my little tree. Sadly after doing so well for about a year and a half, this past Summer it struggled and finally turned completely brown and died, Oct 2025. I tried to protect it from the intense dry Summer heat, but I think all the wind finally did it in. So sad.

The tree came in healthy but has one little dead limb maybe not even an inch long but nothing too major. I love the tree it’s soaking in. It’s water and it’ll be so happy. I think I live in zone 8… so I don’t know how big it’ll get..

You never know how a live plant will arrive and Jonsteen did a fantastic job of growing, packaging and shipping g. I received the healthiest plant that I've ever had shipped in. Came with a sticker and informative literature. I'm looking forward to buying more from them, great job folks!!

Ordered the Coast Redwood Small Tree Seedling in May 2021. It came wrapped in a small tube as advertised. 2.5 years later it has grown into a 4' sapling (see images). It is on the verge of outgrowing the 10 gallon pot it lives in. Watching it grow has been delightful. It seems to sprout new growth every week that starts off as light green little tufts at the end of its branches and at the top. The bark has started to harden and turn a deep red shade. Absolutely recommend!

They arrived 6 days early! I almost didn't have enough soil to pot them! Plants seems alive, bottom half is brown, but they do say that is the case due to shipping and what not. I ordered small, but suspect I got medium, as the root mass matched the pproximately 11 CMs for small, but the top half of the trees where 10 Inches! Did not anticipate this size! As the size in the description said like 5 inches! Packaging was great, protected the plant. However I was hoping for more descriptive care instructions! Otherwise, no complaints at this time!

Being a certified master horticulturist, I am aware of the difficulties of growing red woods on the East Coast, though a few have managed to successfully grow them on Long Island where I reside. Was up for a challenge so I looked into it and purchased a giant sequoia seedling “small tree” and a month later a coastal red wood from The Jonsteen Company, and so far we’ve had 100% success. Saw nothing but good reviews on the Jonsteen Company and I can’t agree with them more. These are much more than just trees they have become a part of our family and have completely brought my family together, and we all contribute to their success. Something about knowing these trees will be here far after we are gone as long as they are in a safe place and maintained while young. Nervous with the winter approaching. Hoping for the best as we will be devastated if we loose them but we will never know if we don’t try and so far it had been some experience. I mean they even have names 😆. Quoia and Red.

Arrived in good condition. Hydrated, well packaged. Healthy. Vibrant green, no brown or wilt. Good planting instructions. Plastic name collars for each. I purchased two Sequoia and two coastal red woods. 1,000 years from now there maybe sequoia and red wood forest on the east coast. I would definitely purchase again and from this seller.
